Ray L. Peters II, age 60 of Holly died Tues. Sept. 30, 2008 at home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Mon. Oct. 6, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Randy Cullen officiating. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Sat. and Sun. Mr. Peters was born in Flint on June 22, 1948 the son of Ray and Lois (Michigan at a later date. Barbara (Biggs) Watson, age 69, of Holly died Mon. Sept. 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M.Thurs. Oct. 2, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Faith Timmons officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Wednesday. Mrs. Watson was born in Pontiac on Dec. 6, 1938 the daughter of John and Amy (Clevenger) Biggs. She was a local Holly girl all her life. She graduated from Holly High School in 1956 and was employed by Holly Spring for 18 years. She and her husband Walt owned their own business, The Holly Tree Flowers and Gifts on Saginaw St. in Holly for the past 25 years. She loved her family, flowers, friends, Red Hat Retro Rubies and animals. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Walter "Walt" Watson; very special aunt Louise Smigelski of Lapeer; brothers and sister-in-law Jim and Bertha Watson of Holly, Carl Watson of Holly, Janette and Raymond "Pat" Patterson of FL; cousin Butch and Priscilla Watson of Alba; nephews Frank and Janet Watson of Brighton, Paul Watson of West Virginia on Nov. 22, 1946 the daughter of James and Hazel (Smith) Keffer. She is survived by her husband Jerry; 2 children, Jackie (Sung) Basham of Waterford and Jerry (Heaven) Basham Jr. of Holly; 4 grandchildren, Cody Lee Basham, Megan Noel Thill, Michael James Basham, and Stephanie Lynn Basham. She was preceded in death by her brother Jackie Keffer. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Arrangements by Dryer Funeral Home.
Evelyn Lenore Campbell: Saturday, September 20 was a sad day for the kinfolk of Evelyn Lenore Campbell, 88, who died in the early morning hours at Fenton Extended Care Center. She leaves two daughters and sons-in-law by her first marriage - Linda and Mike Schaefer of Brea, CA and Gloria and Danny Leffler of Northville; two granddaughters and their spouses, Lori and Ed Osborne and Kari and Tony Mano; a granddaughter, Lisa Leffler; and three great-grandchildren, Edward and Daniel Mano and Victoria Osborne. By a second marriage to Donald Campbell she is survived by two sons, Alan Campbell, who is publisher-owner of the Leelanau Enterprise, and his wife Deborah and their son Cody; and Stuart Campbell and his son, Scotty. Evelyn's husband Donald is a former owner of the Holly Herald Advertiser. Her first husband was Gerald Ziegler. Donald's first wife, Helen was a schoolteacher in area schools. Ziegler worked for the secretary of State. Both died prematurely. Donald and Evelyn enjoyed may sea cruises together visiting Hawaii, Mexico, plus many south sea islands. One of their favorite cruises was to the Hawaiian Islands where they visited the sunken Battleship from World War II, the Sherman Spencer Weakley, Jr. loving husband and father, passed away last night. He is dearly missed by his wife, Teresa,his sister Mary (Larry) Hartman, his children and stepchildren; Dawn (Steve) Weakley Dunn, Todd (Cindy) Weakley, Wendy (Stuart) Weakley Burch, Christopher (Andria) Weakley, Christopher and Natasha Martinez. Joseph A. Poulton, age 73 of Holly died Saturday, September 13, 2008. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek, Celebrant. Burial and Military Honors will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Tuesday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Poulton was born in Sarnia, Ontario on February 25, 1935 the son of Joseph and Marie (Rasmussen) Poulton. He was a Veteran of the US Army, amember of Amel Schwartz Post #149 american Legion, and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Mary; 2 children, Kristin Poulton of Colorado and David (Jennifer) Poulton of Royal Oak and their twin children Jackson and Ella; brother Ronald Poulton of Sarnia, Ontario; and sister Margaret (Frank) Kehn of Sarnia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Poulton.
Martha E. Miner, age 82 of Fenton died Sat. Sept. 6, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Hospice Chaplain, Hank Messing officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Saturday. Mrs. Miner was born in Gaines Twp. on November 13, 1925 the daughter of Howard and Mamie Benton. She graduated from Durand High School in 1942. She married Stanton A. Miner on June 12, 1943. Stanton passed away on November 10, 2002. She is survived by three children, Sharon K.S. Miner of Fenton, Clement E. Miner III of Escondido, CA, and Pamela A. Scott of Clermont, FL; 5 grandchildren, William R. (Naarah) Sampson III, Michael S. Sampson, Clement E. Miner IV, Heather Miner, and Thomas R. (Amy) Scott; dear family friend Judith O. Aegeson of Fenton, and brother Howard Benton Jr. of CA. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters; Clarence (Ethel) Benton, Geneva (Rex) Carpenter, Bernice (Ward) Martin, Ernest "Bill" (Nellie) Benton, and Clarabelle Benton.
