Oma Ellen Davis, age 96 of Holly died Fri. Jan. 9, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. Jan. 12, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Joshua Gates officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday. She is survived by her 2 children, Delmer (Betty) Davis of Caro and Wanda (Bruce) Lewis of Linden; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John Davis in 1980.

Donald H. Wolverton, age 85 of Holly died Sat. Dec. 27, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wed. Dec. 31, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly with military honors under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Tuesday. Mr. Wolverton was born in Argentine on Sept. 5, 1923 the son of Harry and Lucy (Brower) Wolverton. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army. He was formerly co-owner of Inter-Lakes Steel Products of White Lake and was a partner in several developments in Holly. He was a member of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW, Amel Schwartz Post # 149 American Legion, and the Holly Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife Janet; 3 children, Linda (Craig) Essmann of Fenton, Rene (David) Tinsman of Rockford, and Gary (Marilyn) Wolverton of Fenton; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Essmann, Kelly Pushman, Adam Tinsman, Avory Tinsman, Logan Wolverton, and Jamie Wolverton; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Cole Essmann; 2 sisters, Helen Morey of Swartz Creek and Margaret Smith of Swartz Creek; and brother Dick Wolverton of Linden. Richard David Bremer, age 47 of Holly died Wed. Dec. 24, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Mon. Dec. 29, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor William Seitz officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly MI. Mr. Bremer was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 19, 1961. He resided in the Holly area for the past 10 years. He was a facility manager for Oakland Schools SW Technical Center . He was a beloved husband and father. Friends say he never met a stranger. Rick sense of humor was loved by all. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Jeanette; 2 daughters, Karly, 17 a senior at Holly High School and Savannah, age 7, a 1st grader at Rose Pioneer; mother Patricia Bremer of FL; and sister Beth Bremer of FL. He was preceded in death by his father Noe l Bremer. Memorial donation may be made to an Education Fund for Karly and Savannah.
Willie L. Edwards, age 76 of Holly passed away on Fri. Dec. 26, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services and military honors will be held at 10:00 A. M. Fri. Jan. 2, 2009 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army and was retired from Fitness USA of Flint. He fought the good fight, and he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Virginia; 7 children, Rodney (Kimberley) Kimberly (Joel), Jennifer (Nick), Tiger, Willie, Michael, and Eric; 3 grandchildren, Desmond, Devin, and Keegan. He was preceded in death by his mother Nettie Mickens. Memorial donations may be made to Genesys Hospice.
Byron F. Arndt of Englewood, Florida (formerly of Grand Blanc) died peacefully, of cancer on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, Florida. He was 69. Byron was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan to Josephine and Kenneth Arndt. He graduated from Western Michigan University and worked at General Motors, AC Spark Plug for over thirty years. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his mother Josephine of Englewood, Florida and stepson Richard (Linda) Baird of Palatine, Illinois and their children Benjamin, Jessica, and Blythe Baird. Margaret E. Bentley, age 89 of Holly died Tues. Dec. 9, 2008. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Sat. Dec. 13, 2008 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Fri. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mrs. Bentley was born in Hastings, MI on Jan. 13, 1919 the daughter of John and Ethel (Smith) Shindorf. She was a cherished mother and grandmother. She is survived by 7 children, Bob (Susie) Coppersmith of TX, LeeAnn Bouck of Clarkston, Bosco (Sue) Bentley of Holly, Mike (Sue) Bentley of Comings, Jim (Linda) Bentley of Clarkston, Dan (Cindy) Bentley of Holly, and Tim (Tina) Bentley of Grand Blanc; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Helen Wenzlick of Chesaning and Ester Brichmeier of New Lothrop; 1 brother Ray Shindorf of Walled Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor Bentley, 3 grandchildren and I great-grandchild.
Beryl Patricia Evans, born October 30, 1923, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gomer E. Evans just one year ago. Beryl was born and raised in the north end of London, England where she received training and served as an army nurse during the WWII blitz of London. Following the war she worked as a master watchmaker for Longines Watches in London. Gomer and Beryl were married in 1957 and had three sons. Beryl is survived by Timothy 50, and his wife Sonya of East Highlands Ranch, California; Nicholas 46 of Fenton and his wife Kimberly and two granddaughters Madison and Camryn; David 44, and wife Erin with granddaughter Brynn 6 months, of Chicago, Illinois. Beryl also leaves behind a loving church family and many loving friends from around the community. Gomer and Beryl moved to the United States first in 1963 where they settled in Holly, Michigan. During the near 44 years they lived in Holly, Fenton, and Grand Blanc they were active in the community and local Seventh-day Adventist Church where Beryl served in many capacities including Head Deaconess. Beryl will be missed by all who knew her, but she went to her rest with a firm faith in her Lord and Savior and now sleeps along with her beloved Gomer awaiting the Master's call. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Gene Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Jeffrey Alan Foss, age 28 of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Fenton died Mon. Dec. 1, 2008 as a result of an auto accident. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sat. Jeffrey was born in Flint on April 25, 1980 the son of Bruce and Kathleen (Lucas) Foss. He loved his job as a commercial carpenter in South Carolina, and he also had a love for music and cars. He is survived by his daughters Savannah and Grace; mother Kathy (Rick) Conquest of Fenton; father Bruce Foss of Grand Blanc; 2 sisters Lyndsay Foss of Grand Blanc and Rachel (fiancée Dougie Eedy) Foss of Fenton; fiancée Kristen Bell of S.C.; grandmother Beth Foss of Holly; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He had many dear friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ralph Foss and Vern and Janet Lucas. Nahla Clark, age 63 of Fenton died Thurs. Nov. 27, 2008 at home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Mon. Dec. 1, 2008 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church Chapel in Fenton with Father David Harvey, Celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Sunday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mrs. Clark was born on July 18, 1945. She graduated from the University of Michigan , Dearborn with a teacher's degree. She was a bi-lingual teacher and also taught adult education at the Berkley Schools. She also was a substitute teacher in the Fenton, Linden, Lake Fenton, and St. John's Schools. She was a loving wife and mother. She loved flowers, was an avid gardener, and was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Surviving are her husband John Clark; son Robert Clark; 2 brothers Ted Darzi of GA and Ed Darzi of Grand Blanc; 4 sisters Naza, Samea, Vola, and Affa Darzi.
