Charlotte Lilah (McKenney) Davenport, age 79 of South Lyon died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Fri. Nov. 28, 2008 at Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, MI. Visitation from 11 a.m. Fri. Nov. 28, 2008 until the funeral begins. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Charlotte was born April 8, 1929 in Flint Michigan to Raymond and Annie (Near) McKenney. She was an elementary school teacher and principle for the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventist for many years and had a life-long passion for Christian education. Charlotte is survived by son, Chris Davenport of New York, a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Aldo Greco and granddog Oscar of South Lyon. She is also survived by two brothers, Leslie (Uella) McKenney of Byron Center and Stanley McKenney of Allegan, and by many loving nieces and nephews. Bernice E. Butts, age 82 of Ypsilanti, died Sat. Nov. 22, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tues. Nov. 25, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Burial will be in Beebe Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Monday. Mrs. Butts was born in Holly on March 24, 1926 the daughter of John and Nellie (Covell) Dumas. She was a loving homemaker, a former Girl Scout Leader and Red Cross volunteer, and was an active crafter. She is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia and Lorna Butts both of Ypsilanti. She was preceded in death by her husband Ward Butts; sisters Ida Miller, Rose Sak, and Pearl Eddy; and brothers Harvey, Daniel, and Fred Dumas. Donald L. Wick, age 74 of Holly died Sun. Nov. 9, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Randy Cullen officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Wed. Mr. Wick was born in Holly on Oct. 21, 1934 the son of Leonard and Elnora (Budd) Wick. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War. He retired from GM Chevy Metal Fab after 34 years of service. He was an avid Detroit Tigers. Pistons, Red Wings, and Lions fan and was a lifelong fan of U of M football. He also enjoyed caring for his son Doug. They enjoyed classic cars, especially his 1963 and 1956 Chevys and they enjoyed driving in the Woodward Dream Cruises. He also enjoyed snowmobiling at his cabin in Meredith. Surviving are 3 sons, Donald (Diane) Wick of Fenton, David (Lisa) Wick of Holly, and Douglas Wick of Holly; 5 grandchildren, Katie and Bryan Wick, and Alishia, Angela, and Ashley Wick; and brother Leland Wick of S.C. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Gertrude R. Prested, age 88 of White Lake, formerly of Royal Oak, passed away on October 19, 2008. She was the loving wife of the late Edward F. Prested who preceded her in death on September 13, 2003. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 7, 2008, with visitation at 9:30 A.M. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Ralph R. Gates, age 71 of Holly died Friday, October 24, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Wed. Oct. 29, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Elder J.C. Hager officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Wednesday. Mr. Gates was born in Fenton on Sept. 16, 1937 the son of Roy and Blanche (Johnson) Gates. He loved children, animals, gardening and watching people. He is survived by 5 children, Terry Jackson of Grand Blanc, Myrtle Gates of Holly, Kimberly Gates of Holly, Dan Gates of Holly, and Russell Gates of Holly; 3 grandchildren, Teri Lyn Jackson, Jesse David Jackson, and Benjamin Cody Jackson; 3 sisters, Ellen Lawrence of Fenton, Shirley Lawrence of Waterford.and Mary Wise of Fenton; brother Ray Gates of WA; and friend Walter Cummings. He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Gates. Memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Michigan.
Bruce D. Robinson, age 73 of Davisburg died Sat. Oct. 18, 2008. He was the loving husband of Patricia; dear father of Bruce D. Robinson Jr, Kimberly A. Dunahay, and the late James A. Durfee; brother of Mary "Sue" (Gordon) Rigoulot of Grand Blanc, Thomas H. Robinson of WI, Edith Robinson of White Lake, Gail Musgrove of Walled Lake, and the late Glenn E. Robinson; grandfather of Amanda Robinson of Holly and Patricia S. Robinson of Holly; and many nieces and nephews. He was born on May 25, 1935 in Sacramento, CA to the late Thomas and Mary Robinson. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War and was retired from A&P Foods. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wed. Oct. 22, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Faith Green Timmons officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion of Holly. Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Leader Dogs for the Blind.
Anthony Saiz, of Auburn Hills, age 89, died Tues. Oct. 14, 2008. He was the loving husband of the late Helen Saiz for 55 years; beloved father of Joe (Delores) Saiz and Jim (Mary) Saiz; grandfather of 6; and great-grandfather of 11. He was a veteran of WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart with US Army 509th Parachute Infantry. He was retired from GMC.
Antonette Bishop, widow of Billie Bishop of Davisburg, Michigan, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2008. In addition to a sister and two brothers, Mrs. Bishop is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Brown and Karen Bishop; a grandson, Chad Davis; grand-daughter, Renee Madison and one great-grandson, Sean Madison. Clarence O. Gordon, age 85 of Rose Township died Mon. Sept. 29, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sat. Oct. 4, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 P.M. Thurs. and Fri. Mr. Gordon was born in Holly on June 2, 1923 the son of Earl and Daisy (Sutton) Gordon. He was the owner-operator of Clarence Gordon Excavating for over 50 years. He was a Trustee on the Rose Township board for 28 years and was the builder and developer of Lake Braemar. He was an accomplished wood turner and a member of the Michigan Association of Wood Turners. He loved his gardening and his Grandson Dakota. Surviving are his wife Betty; son Dave (Suzanne) Gordon of Holly; grandson Dakota Gordon of Holly; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Esther Fuchs and Leona Platt and brothers Cecil and Merle Gordon. Memorial donations may be made to Holly Area Youth Assistance.
Alan F. Wichar, age 45 of Holly passed away Mon. Sept. 22, 2008.
He loved and was devoted to his wife and best friend Robin and his 3 children, Jamie Timm of Holly, Jessie Timm (husband Sam Willett) of Burton and Cpl. Benjamin Timm with the USMC in San Diego, CA. He is also survived by his mother Irene (Domenico) Scaglione of LaSalle, Ontario, brothers Eric (Recina) Wichar of Jackson, Nunzio Scaglione of LaSalle, and Lina (Kris) Green of Canada; nieces and nephews, Shannon and Shawn Wichar and Mia and Cristian Green; and father-in-law Allen Spector of NV. Mr. Wichar was born in Detroit on July 13, 1963 the son of Gary and Irene (Krasiky) Wichar. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Central Michigan University. He was a teacher in Galveston, Texas for 15 years before coming to Holly where he was a teacher and driver's education instructor at Holly High School and the Karl Richter Campus for 8 years. He loved his students and teaching, and he was well loved by his students and fellow teachers. His special interests were scuba diving, riding his Harley, and flying airplanes. He was preceded in death by his father Gary Wichar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Father David Blazek officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. and a Rosary prayed at 6 P.M. on Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to Holly High School gazebo fund.
