Bette is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Richard Earl Hardy Jr. She is also preceded in death by her aunt & uncle, who raised her, Mae Francis Jernberg, and Carl Russell Jernberg, her brother Donald Clayton Williams and son Richard Earl Hardy III. Beloved mother of Susan Mae (Matthew) Marcell and dearest grandmother to Caleb Richard Marcell. Also survived by several cousins, nieces & nephews. LaDonna F. Hill, age 69 of Highland died Sat. July 5, 2008 at Canterbury of the Lake of Waterford. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Randy Cullen officiating. Mrs. Hill was born in Detroit on March 18, 1939 the daughter of Delbert and Mildred (Tissler) Halberstadt. She is survived by her 3 children, Anthony Fields of Howell, Ida (Chuck) Milleur of White Lake, and Michelle Shotwell of Clio; 6 grandchildren, Max Milleur, Rex Milleur, Samantha Shotwell, Nina Fields, Nicholas Fields, and MacKenzie Fields; 1 great-granddaughter Cordelia; sister Hope; and brothers Lyman and William. Memorials may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
Joan Ruth Shields, age 76 of St. Francis, WI, formerly of Detroit died Wed. July 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tues. July 8, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Father David Blazek officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Monday. Mrs. Shields was born in Hazelton, PA on Oct. 29, 1931 the daughter of Joseph and Leona (Maselkevich) DiNardo. The family moved to Detroit in 1941. She graduated from St. Rose of Lima in 1949 and attended Marygrove College from 1949 to 1952. She married Charles Edwin Shields on Oct. 8, 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2002. She was a former employee of the Burroughs Corp. Her loves in life were her family, grandchildren, reading, cooking, animals, current events, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her 3 children, Joseph (Susan) Shields, Suzanne (Charles) Kerndt, and Cynthia Shields; 5 grandchildren, Austin, Garrett, and Conner Kerndt, Aaron Cergol, and Matthew Shields; and brothers Joseph and Robert DiNardo.
Keith Louis Naegle, born December 25, 1930 in Toquerville, Utah, died June 30, 2008. He married Elinor Fuhriman on May 9, 1953, and the marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on March 19, 1954. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from June 1954 to July 1956 in the New England Mission. An active member of the Church, he served in over 15 positions, including Bishop of the Fenton Ward. Keith succeeded in a range of career positions: as a design engineer at both Convair and Sperry, he taught at Brigham Young University, he worked at GM Pontiac Motors as a production engineer and transferred to the Flint Engine Plant, retiring in 1998. He is survived by his wife Elinor, his children and their spouses, Julia and Robert Heck, Gary and Rosalie Naegle, Cathryn and Dean Welch, Debra and Richard Arndt, Patricia and James Welch, Robert and Tina Naegle, Bradley and Alissa Naegle, Paul and Mary Naegle, Steven Naegle, 41 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. His family is pleased with his achievements and example. They are deeply grateful for the legacy of faith and service he has endowed to them. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Fenton Ward at 4285 McCandlish Rd., Grand Blanc.. William C. Beelby, age 84 of Holly died Mon. May 3, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr. Beelby was born in Holly on Oct. 3, 1925 the son of Watson and Gladys (Prosser) Beelby. He was retired from General Motors. He was a member of the Holly Moose Lodge for 67 years and received his Pilgrim's Degree in 1976. He was an avid bowler and was a longtime member of the Holly Volunteer Ambulance. He is survived by 5 children, Susan (Buster) Winebrenner, William (Carmen) Beelby, Jack Beelby, Kirk (Janie) Beelby, and Joey (Tracie) Beelby all of Holly; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Nancy, wife Agatha, grandson Billy, daughter-in-law Sharon, and brother Mark. The family gives special thanks to his care givers Cindy and Porky. Memorial donations may be made to Genesys Hospice.
Jean M. Bentley, age 78 of Holly died Tues. April 27, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Thursday. Mrs. Bentley was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England on March 4, 1932 the daughter of Frank and Ada (Chorlton) Meakin. She was retired from Holly Schools. She is survived by her husband James Bentley; 2 children, Wayne (Deanda) Bentley of FL and Lori (Eugene) Kahn of Davisburg; 4 grandchildren, Eugene III, Kristi, James, and Matthew; 2 sisters, Avis Linton of MD and Maureen Middleton of England. She was preceded in death by her daughter Corinne and granddaughter Amy. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney foundation.
Evan W. Johnson, age 30 of Holly died Fri. April 16, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 12 -2 PM Tuesday. Evan was born in Flint on Jan. 1, 1980 the son of Curtis Johnson and Audrey Newman. He was an accomplished musician, an avid outdoorsman, and a friend to all who met him. He is survived by his mother Audrey (John) Winglemire of Holly, father Curtis Johnson, brothers Brian Johnson of Flint, Jeremy Johnson of Fort Wayne, IN, Joe Winglemire of Holly, and sister Anna Winglemire of Fenton; and grandmother Edith Newman of TN. He was preceded in death by his brother Aaron Johnson, grandfather Wallace Newman, and grandparents Marguerite and Frank Johnson. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Joyce Mereness Walters, age 80; of Holly, Mi. died March 21, 2010, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on November 3, 1929 she was adopted on November 8, 1929 by Gerald (Jake) and Helen Mereness. Wife of the late William (Bill) Walters, she was the loving mother of: Julie (Manley) Hughes, William (Robin), David (Patty), Kevin (Gwen), and Quentin (Penny).
She made life-long friendships in grade school with girlfriends now known as Barb Addis, Harriett Striggow, and Skip Boyer. She attended Fenton schools and graduated in 1948 as salutatorian of her class. She was also close to classmate Bill Hill and came to regard Bill's wife, Gini, as a dear friend. Joyce married Bill Walters on November 27, 1948, and lived in Davisburg with her children all attending Holly schools. She retired in 1994 after 31 years with General Motors. At General Motors she made lasting friendships with Pat Day, Butch Zimmer, and Kathy Reeling. Joyce loved performing as "Puddinhead the Clown". She also loved performing with the Hartland Players and dancing with the Living Dolls. She belonged to the Red Hat clubs in Holly and Hartland. She also participated in Reunion With A Cause. For the last few years of her life she attended the Presbyterian Church in Holly. Joyce also loved to dance at the Waterford Eagles club when she got the opportunity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and son, David; as well as by her parents Jake and Helen Mereness, brother Jerry and sister-in-law Naomi. She is survived by the children and friends mentioned above; grandchildren Scott Hughes, Jason Hughes (Katy), Chad Hughes, Billy Walters, Wendy Vega (Lucas), Ryan (Chelsea) Walters, Amy (Joe) Mayernik, Troy (Ashlee) Walters, Jade (Nelson) Dunn, Randee Walters, and Quent Walters; and many, many great- grandchildren. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to : Hartland Senior Center, Holly Presbyterian Church, or Reunion With A Cause. Visitation for the family will be Thurs. March 25 from 100-2:00 p.m., public 2;00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Dryer Funeral Home on Fri. March 26 at 1:00 p.m.
Lola J. Weber, age 76 of Holly died Sat. March 20, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wed. March 24, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Tuesday and from10 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday. Mrs. Weber was born in Traverse City on July 29, 1933 the daughter of Clyde and Zella (Ricard) Smith. She and her late husband Richard Weber owned and operated Dick's Electric of Holly. She was known as the "Quilt Lady" of Holly. She is survived by her 3 children, Karen Widing of Holly, Tom Weber of Flint, and Joe Weber of Fenton.; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and her friends at the Holly Donut Shop. Carlin D. Jackson, age 88 of Holly died Mon. March 8, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thurs. March 11, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Donnie W. Eagle officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Wednesday. Mr. Jackson was born in Little Birch, West Virginia on June 5, 1921 the son of Grover Cleveland and Mamie (Mace) Jackson. Before moving to Holly, Mr. Jackson lived in Sacramento, CA where he worked for Aerojet in the aerospace industry. He retired from the GM Flint Engine Plant and was a member of UAW Local #659. He loved travel, camping, and trains. He is survived by his wife Goldie; brother Billie Jackson of WV; 2 sisters Gladys Long and Patty Mollohan both of WV. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
