Estelle Joanne Adkins, 82, of Royal Oak, formerly a Berkley resident for 26 years, died April 7, 1999 in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born Sept. 8, 1919 in Pennsylvania. Her husband, John, died Oct. 18, 1986. They were married Feb. 14, 1947 in Pontiac. Survivors include her children, Iris (Doug) McEwen, Jackie (Steven) Finlay and Mary Clark; five grandchildren, Brandon, Jamie, Elizabeth, Andrea and Mathew. LEATRICE J. PREVOST
Leatrice J. Prevost, 66, a life-long Royal Oak resident, died April 7, 1999 in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born June 29, 1932 in Detroit. Mrs. Prevost enjoyed family functions and bingo and was employed by Foodland in Ferndale. Survivors include her children, Laura (Jason) Stidham and William Prevost, both of Center Line; brother, Alvin R. (Catherine P.) Prevost of Troy; brother-in-law, Richard R. Friske of Detroit; sister-in-law, Dolores S. Prevost of Washington Township; one grandson, Justin Salaniuk. MABEL W. WIESE
Mabel W. Wiese, 101, a long-time Royal Oak resident, died April 7, 1999 in Glacier Hills Nursing Home, Ann Arbor. She was born Oct. 16, 1897 in Prophetstown, Ill. Her husband, Albert, whom she married Aug. 14, 1926 in Detroit, died in 1966. Mrs. Wiese earned a degree in education from Eastern Michigan University in 1924. She worked as a school teacher in Royal Oak in the 1920's, later working as a librarian at the Royal Oak Public Library from 1953 until she retired in 1963. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ferndale. Survivors include her children, Ralph (Marilyn) Wiese of Milford and John (Jane) Wiese of Princeton, N.J.; sisters, Carrie Staehle of Dublon, Calif., Ruth Ingle of Vallejo, Calif., Grace (Paul) Harbauer of Perrysburg, Ohio and Frances (Don) Ashton of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. CLAYTON B. RIVENBARK SR.
Clayton B. Rivenbark Sr., 98, of Royal Oak, formerly of Chadbourn, N.C., Elyria, Ohio and Detroit, died April 8, 1999 in Alexander Mercy Living Center, Royal Oak. He was born July 5, 1900 in Pender County, S.C. His wife, Mae Elizabeth (Twohy), died in 1978. Mr. Rivenbark retired from Fruehauf Trailer Co. in Avon, Ohio, where he was employed from 1925-65. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his children, Patricia M. Sloan of Royal Oak and Clayton B. (Donna) Rivenbark Jr. of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; three brothers; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Helen D. Lake, 80, of Royal Oak, formerly of Rochester Hills, died April 10, 1999 in St. John Oakland Hospital, Madison Heights. She was born April 4, 1919 in St. Johns. Her husband, Hazen, died Nov. 2, 1992. Mrs. Lake was a homemaker who enjoyed crafts and making jewelry. Survivors include her children, Shirley Lake of Royal Oak, John R. (Jill) Lake of Clarkston and Glenn G. (Linda) Lake of Grandville; three grandchildren, Christopher R. (Michelle) Lake, Veronica and Vanessa Lake; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Lake. Nicholas A. Schamanski, 21, of Royal Oak, died April 11, 1999 in Auburn Hills. He was born Nov. 10, 1977 in Royal Oak. Mr. Schamanski graduated from Kimball High School in 1996 and he worked as a chef at Fox & Hounds Restaurant in Bloomfield Hills. Survivors include his son, Michael A. Schamanski of Royal Oak; parents, Charles Schamanski of Gibralter and Susan Schamanski of Royal Oak; a brother, Adam of Royal Oak; a sister, Rose Anne of Gibralter; grandmothers, Rose Wilmot and Victoria Schamanski. Marian D. (Munch) Maher, 89, a 34-year resident of Royal Oak, formerly of Warren, Pa., died April 11, 1999 in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born Feb. 22, 1910 in Warren, Pa. Mrs. Maher was active in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clawson. Survivors include her husband, Peter J., whom she married Aug. 15, 1942 in Buffalo, N.Y.; children, Mary Ann Bridgewater of Royal Oak, Patricia J. (Raymond) Blaszczak of Troy and Dorothy E. Deborah Margaret Kitson, 42, of Royal Oak, formerly of Troy, died April 13, 1999 in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. She was born May 26, 1956 in Detroit. Mrs. Kitson was an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Hazel Park. She also was a member of the Christian Youth Organization and neighborhood service unit director of Girl Scouts-Michigan Metropolitan. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth J., whom she married Aug. 8, 1986 in Clawson; a daughter, Anna M. of Royal Oak; siblings, Thomas Wells of Grass Lake, Susan (Donald) Kaiser of Troy and Mrs. Joseph Soehren of Troy. WILLIAM W. WESTMORELAND
William W. Westmoreland, 72, of Royal Oak, died April 13, 1999 in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born June 29, 1926 in Sharon, Tenn. Mr. Westmoreland was a welder at Equipment Manufacturing in Warren for 44 years, retiring in 1990. He served with the U.S. Navy in World War II in the South Pacific and he formerly owned the Arizona Bar in Detroit. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn (Rosneck); children, Mickey (Littlet) of California, James (Jane) of Tennessee, Peggy Kershaw of Tennessee, Janet (Dennis) Ryan of Shelby Township and Paul (Stephanie) of Kansas; 19 grandchildren.
