James (“Jim” “Mim” “Mimi” “Mimiham” “The Hammer”) Mortada Abraham Sr.
of Englewood, FL and formerly of Orchard Lake died suddenly on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at his home in Englewood Florida. He was 62 years old. Born on December 20, 1941, the son of Jimmy & Catherine Abraham, Jim spent much of his childhood in Highland Park, Michigan. His three siblings Ronny, Billy, and Dolly all contributed to the early development of his wonderful personality and through his loving mother and father’s guidance, Jim was destined for success in all of his professional endeavors. As a young man, he discovered his lifelong interest in automobiles and the art of painting them, while also thriving in Athletics. Jim attended Cooley High School, starred in the Football program and would later even try out for the Chicago Bears. He graduated in the spring of 1958 shortly before falling in love with Kathy McClain. Jim and Kathy soon married and were blessed with the births of their two children, Bret and Tracy. Throughout the 60’s Jim worked very hard (sometimes two or more jobs) to create and support his idea of the perfect family while living in Romeo, Michigan and enjoyed his many different fields of employment that included Ford Motor Company paint & styling, Chrysler paint & styling, and even home heating installation. After gaining experience with paints and coatings from past positions, Jim discovered that this field was of most interest. Custom formulas and innovative new practices marked his early success in the industry. By the middle seventies Jim discovered Cass Lake where he would spend weekends with friends he had grown up with. Armed with a very outgoing personality he soon discovered a new group of friends from the Keego Harbor area. He also discovered a new love, Lisa in 1977. In April 1978 Jim and Lisa decided to get married and begin a life in the Cass Lake area. A year later in spring of 1979 Jimmy Abraham Jr. was born. In the early 80’s Jim Started working at M&T chemicals and went on to accept a position with United Paint and Chemical where he would become president and co-owner. During this time Jim also earned his Michigan builders license and found a love with building homes throughout Michigan including the home he built for his family on Cass Lake. Jim continued with his position at United Paint until his retirement in 1999. Throughout this time Jim had bought and sold various properties in Florida and discovered that he would like to spend his retirement down south. After moving to Englewood, Florida Jim created a unique business (Old Toys For Old Boys) that specialized in restoration and custom painting of motorcycles and automobiles. During this time he made many friends and even had some family accompany him to the area. For the past 5 years Jim Abraham has enjoyed life in Florida with his close friends and family. Both his sons and family stayed in contact and visited on a regular basis. Jim Abraham was a loving father, husband, friend, and was never selfish to anyone. Mary Louise Cornellier
of Milford died on Monday morning, October 4, 2004 at home in the care of her family. She was 81 years old. Born on April 9, 1923 in Colchester, Ontario, she was the daughter of Frederick and Ethel (Agla)Wright. She graduated from Colchester High School and later married John Homer. Widowed in 1949, Mary would later meet Gene Morin, fall in love and marry. Together they moved to White Lake and raised a growing family. After being widowed for a second time in 1972, she married Bernie Cornellier and they made their home in Lakeland, Florida. After his death in 1993, she returned to the Milford area. A good neighbor and good friend, she was active with the Milford Senior Center where she often worked the spaghetti dinners, and at the Milford Presbyterian Church where she was a member. Though she was a child during the Great Depression, and lived through World War II and was widowed three times and raised a large family, Mary never dwelt in the past, always seemed to treat the present moment like a gift and held bright hopes for the future. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and then the Atlanta Braves; she enjoyed reading, flowers and crossword puzzles and especially loved “deuces wild” rummy at which, according to her family, she kept score and made new rules up as she went along and seldom ever “lost.” She played at life much the same way, with abiding faith, love of family and friends and hope for the future, she played whatever hands life dealt her, and played them well. Mary is survived by her sons and daughters: John (Chris) Morin of South Lyon, Fred (Sally) Morin of Highland, Susan (Michael) Vancil of Gaylord, Corene Nuhn of Hartland, Gary Cornellier of Highland and Byrne (Lisa) Cornellier of Corbin, KY, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends who join her family in mourning her death and giving thanks to God for her life among them.
