Phillip G. Hilzinger, age 86 of Holly died Fri. July 18, 2008. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday July 22, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor William Seitz officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery, Royal Oak. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM before the service. A masonic service will also be conducted. Mr. Hilzinger was born in Royal Oak on March 1, 1922 the son of George and Anna (Neilsen) Hilzinger. Surviving are his wife Betty (Irons) Hilzinger of Holly; daughter Gail (the late James) Ford, son Robert (Kathy) Hilzinger; brothers and sister; Erwin Hilzinger, William Hilzinger, Lille Ann David; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Phillip was a Michigan Bell engineer retiring in 1975 and a member of the Berkley Masonic Lodge # 536. Doris E. Hallett, age 90, formerly of Davisburg died Fri. March 5, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Mon. March 8, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Bruce Malicoat officiating. Burial will be in Hadley Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 4-9 PM Saturday and from 2-9 PM Sunday. Mrs. Hallett was born in Boyne City on Aug. 19, 1919 the daughter of Elton and Clara (Davis) Newman. She was a member of the Arabela United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed her family, quilting, garage saleing, and gardening. Surviving are her 4 children, Jim (Jackie) Hallett of Millington, Ruth Ann (Odie) Miracle of Vassar, John (Judy) Hallett of Millington, and Gary (Cindy) Hallett of Davisburg; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Don (Carol) Newman of Ark., Jerry (Kathryn) Newman of Holly; sister Brenda (Jack) Kerr of Baldwin; and DeWayne (Ileene) Hallett of Holly. She was preceded in death by her husband Milo. brothers Larry and Wayne Newman and sisters Norvia Lowe and Betty Rose. Memorial donations may be made to the Arabela United Methodist Church.
Phillip L. Gibbard, age 76 of Rose Township died Thurs. March 4, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Mon. March 8, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Beebe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 PM Saturday and from 2-9 PM Sunday. Mr. Gibbard was born in Clawson on May 18, 1933 the son of Floyd and Persis (Robertson) Gibbard. He was the owner of Phil's Store in Rose Township for 48 years. He was a hard worker who had a great love for his family. He especially enjoyed family gatherings, visiting with customers and telling stories. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; 4 children, Jayne Gibbard, Andrew Gibbard, Robert Stone, and Mary Wolkow; 10 grandchildren, Heather Wolkow, Lady-Christina Wolkow, John Wolkow, Jennifer Walton, Melissa Stone, Robbie Stone, Brittany Stone, Alex Stone,Tiger Stone, and Chelsey Gibbard; 3 great-grandchildren, Makenzie Lawson, Oscar Walton, and Davis Walton; brother Raymond Gibbard; and sisters Clare Ferris and Vi Pettingil. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Ted Gibbard. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Frederick R. Schwartz, age 85 of Holly died Sun. Feb. 28, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post # 149 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2-6 PM Thursday. Mr. Schwartz was born in Holly on Nov. 17, 1924 the son of William and Mary (Farrand) Schwartz. He served as a Seabee in the US Navy during WWII. He was a lifelong resident of Holly and was retired from the GM Proving Grounds in Milford. He was a member of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW. His wife June preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2009. Anthony S. Karczewski, age 79 of Holly died Mon. Feb. 15, 2010. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Fri. Mr. Karczewski was born in Detroit on Sept. 20, 1930 the son of Anthony and Blanche (Pendracki) Karczewski. He is survived by his wife Teresa; 4 children, Mary Ellen (Robie) Wood, Sandy (Lindsay Montgomery) Karczewski, Anthony J. (Sharon) Karczewski, and Timothy (Kelli) Karczewski; 9 grandchildren; and sister Sylvia Robertson. He was preceded in death by his sister Rita Robertson. Rose Mary Bowman, age 88 of Holly died Sun, Feb. 14, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thurs. Feb. 18, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Beebe Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Wednesday. Mrs. Bowman was born in Canada on Oct. 15, 1921 the daughter of George and Mary Todosciuk. She was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church and a member of the Hollyhocks Senior Citizens. She was a great Mom and her special loves were her children, grandchildren, and flowers. She is survived by 4 children, Janet Ketzler of Holly, Joice (Josh) Pearson of Hamburg, Austin "Skip" (Wanda) Bowman of Davisburg, and Grace (Al) Rodgers of Macomb; 6 grandchildren Lisa (Pete) Lapczynski, Chris (Randi) Senter, Austin Leslie Bowman, Neesha (Jeff) Nemec, and John and Jacob Ketzler; 3 great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kyle Senter and Makenzee Bowman; and brothers Frank (Janice) Todosciuk and Pete Lyberg.
Claude G. Shinn, age 67 of Burton died Wed. Feb. 10, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 2;00 P.M. Sat. Feb. 13, 2010 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Visitation will be from 12 -2 PM Sat. Mr. Shinn was born in Onalaska, Washington on May 2, 1942 and was a native of Holly. He was a 1960 graduate of the Adelphian Academy of Holly, and he retired from the Flint Police Department in the early 80's. He moved to Florida and worked for Hillsborough County Security Services and retired from there in 1998. He then returned to Burton, MI . He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are 4 children, Claude Shinn Jr., Thomas (Michelle) Shinn, Dawn (Stephen) Pierce, and Sonja (Daniel) Littleton; 3 grandchildren, Emily Shinn, MaKenna Pierce, and Holly Shinn; brothers and sisters, Kevin Shinn, David Shinn, Debbie McCarty, and Laurie (Mike) Lacey; and brother-in-law Al Mader. He was preceded in death by his sister Arlene Mader, mother Violet Shinn, brother Gary Shinn, and father Claude C. Shinn.

Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Friday. Mr. Losh was born in Detroit on Feb. 7, 1922 the son of Amel and Florence (Waltz) Losh. He was a life long resident and farmer in Davisburg. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was a 40 year member of the Michigan Milk Producers Association. Surviving are his wife Maureen; son Terry (Sandy) Losh of Davisburg; 2 grandchildren Ainsley and Brody Losh; and nephew Daryl Losh of Holly. She is survived by 2 children, Robert Gaines of Flint and Traci Gaines of Flint; 2 grandchildren, Nichole (Joshua) Servello of Fenton and Jeffrey Gaines of TN; 1 great-granddaughter Aubrey Servello; father James Gugin of Davison; sisters Sandra (Gerry) Stiles of Grand Blanc, Marlene Rose of Houghton Lake, Cheryl Matthews of Holly, Debra Hill of FL, Gayle (Dale) LePlant of Holly, and Kelly (Mark) Garfield of Grand Blanc.
