Emmanuel James Mehelas
age 77, of Farmington Hills, died July 29, 2004, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Mr. Mehelas was born April 22, 1927, in Detroit. Mr. Mehelas was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Detroit and U of D Mercy with a degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII. Mr. Mehelas retired from Burroughs/Unisys after 31 years of service as a sales/marketing executive. He was a long time member of the Titian Club and past president of the St Regis Parish Council and Ushers Club. Mr. Mehelas enjoyed golf, Northern Michigan vacations, the Detroit Tigers and U of D Titan Basketball, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Mehelas is survived by his wife, Mary Lou and children, Thomas (Ann) M.D., Rosanne (Craig) Berry, Dianne, David, Julie (Shel) Levine and Marianne Mehelas. John I. Perlich
age 90, of Waterford, died July 31, 2004, at Lourdes Nursing Home in Waterford. Mr. Perlich was born March 21, 1914 to John and Victoria (Dorich) Perlich in Pozega, Croatia. He graduated from Painsdale High School and went to work in the copper mines with his father in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He married Victoria Feira on June 5, 1941. Mr. Perlich served in the Navy during WWII. He was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and became a district manager in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1960. He and Victoria were members of Blessed Sacrament Church and the LaCrosse Country Club. They retired to Vero Beach, Florida in 1975, where they were members of St. Helen's Church and the Vero Beach Country Club. Mr. Perlich is survived by his children, Barbara (August) Bernhard, John J. (Helen) Perlich and Betsy (Bob) Moran, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and brother, Frank (Margaret) Perlich. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters.
