Elizabeth Koscielniak, age 92 passed away Oct. 6, 2009. John R. Marshall, age 72, of Grand Blanc, Holly, and Standish , died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at home. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Sept. 25, 1936 the son of John and Mildred (Martin) Marshall. He retired after 26 years as Detective Lieutenant with the Ferndale Police Force. He received many salutations and awards throughout his career, including Ferndale Policeman of the Year. After retiring as a police officer, he worked in industrial sales. He was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife Barbara; 4 children, John Marshall of NC, Rick Marshall of AZ, Jackie Murphy of Clarkston, and Sue Nelson of Holly; 2 grandchildren, Samie and Jackie Phipps of Holly; sister Mary Lou Farmer of CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Scott McRae. A time for sharing memories will begin at 4:00 PM Sat. Sept. 26, 2009 at the Holly VFW Hall, 201 Airport Dr., Holly, MI 4842, with refreshments to follow until 6:00 PM. Kenneth Earl Leece, age 69 of Holly died on September 7 at Genesys Hospital. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 28, 1940, the son of Raymond James and Eva Wanda Davey Leece. He retired from General Motors with 43 years of service. Following retirement, he was a volunteer at Neighbor for Neighbor. His hobbies were softball, golf, and bowling. He was a faithful member of Davisburg United Methodist Church. Mr. Leece is survived by his wife, Joyce, sons Mark (Leonarda) Leece of Chehalis, Washington, Rev. John (Dawn) Leece of Loganville, Georgia, and daughter Bethany (Michael) Lennox of Holly. three grandsons Matthew and Nicholas Lennox and Christopher (Katie) Leece and three great-grandchildren Alayna, Emily and Anthony Leece. Also survived by brother-in-law David (Susan) Mills, niece Laura Mills and nephew Stephen Mills. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 10, 2009 at the Davisburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Davisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. The family suggests memorials be made in his memory to Davisburg United Methodist Church.
Mary "Libby" "Bubba" "Memaw" Bost, age 76 died Wed. Sept. 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sat. Sept. 5, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Friday. Mrs. Bost was born in Seneth, Missouri on Feb. 16, 1933. She was a strong, independent, honest, and loving woman. She was an inspiration to all. Surviving are 3 children, Brian (Ella) Bost of Montrose, Debbie (Norm) Garant of Holly, and Chris (Nicci) Duncan of Flint; 3 grandchildren, Brianna Tambs, Shianne Bost, and Tasha Bost; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha Duncan, Devin and Dylan Tambs, and Caitlyn Garant; brothers and sisters Gaylon Oxford, Alma Bowen, Danny Oxford, and Terry Oxford. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sherry Lock, brother Bill Oxford, and sister Carolyn Mungle. In lieu of flowers the suggests donation be given to the family to go towards a headstone.
Dennis R. McCarthy, age 64 of Holly died Sun. Aug. 23, 2009. He was born in Detroit on Oct. 30, 1944 the son of Donald and Catherine McCarthy. He is survived by Debra, his wife of 38 years; sons, Dennis II and family and David and family; brother Lee McCarthy; and sister Darlene Copeland. Private services will be held.
Lois E. Ebach, age 76 of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Holly passed away Mon. Aug. 17, 2009. She was born on Dec. 21, 1932 in Crossville, TN the daughter of Henderson Burgess and Mary Elizabeth Wyatt. Lois had a passion for sewing and embroidery and was devoted to her family. She and her loving husband of 52 years, Anthony, moved to Palm Coast 11 years ago from Orlando. She is survived by her husband Anthony; daughters Mary (Mark) Krajniak of Bryan City, NC, Nancy (Michael) Klein of Palm Coast, FL, Laura (Mike) Newman of Holly, MI, and Loretta Ashley of Davisburg, MI; and she was "Nana" and "Grandma" to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 1-9 P.M. Sunday.
Lucile Haddon died on August 3, 2009 at her residence. She was 94 years old. Lucile was born in Holly, Michigan. Her parents were T. Roy and Emma (Slater) Hadley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard Haddon, and two brothers, Harold and Maurice Hadley. She graduated from Holly High School and then earned an elementary teaching degree from Ypsilanti State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University). In 1941 she and Howard Haddon, also from Holly, were married. Lucile taught 3rd grade in both Holly and Lake Fenton. She was a member of the AAUW and the First United Presbyterian Church of Fenton. When asked what her greatest accomplishment and satisfaction was, she indicated it was raising their two daughters. She is survived by daughters Linda (Grant) Walter of Fenton, MI and Sara (Fred) Biskie of Charlotte, MI. Also surviving he are grandsons Steve Biskie (fiancée Karen Kronauge) of Greenwood Village, CO, David (Grace) Biskie of Kalamazoo, MI, step-grandchildren, Beth (Chris) Smith of Topeka, KS, Scott Biskie of Hays, KS, and Grant Walter of Lilburn, GA; one great-grandson Ransom Biskie and seven step-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Mon. Aug. 10, 2009 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Fenton with Pastor Dale Swihart officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM Mon. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fenton. Cremation has taken place. In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice of Flint MI, American Heart Association, American Arthritis Foundation, Gideon's International or the First Presbyterian Church of Fenton.
James J. Lee, age 88 of Holly died Mon. July 27, 2009. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. on Thurs. July 30, 2009 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Wed. and a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Wed at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Military honors will be under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post 5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. Mr. Lee was born in Holly on Oct. 9, 1920 the son of Thomas and Mary (Stack) Lee. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the US Navy in the South Pacific. He was retired from GM. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Hulet-Bravender Post 5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. Surviving is his wife of 66 years Loraine; daughter Linda K. Lee of Allen Park; and many nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to DaVita Dialysis of Grand Blanc, and to Mike Crick and Tim Courtney. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Wolverton; dear mother of Linda (Craig) Essmann of Fenton, Rene` (David) Tinsman of Rockford, and Gary (Marilyn) Wolverton of Fenton; grandmother of Matthew (Jane) Essmann, Kelly (Scott) Pushman, Adam (Lizzie) Tinsman, Avory Tinsman, Logan Wolverton and Jamie Wolverton; great-grandmother of Carter and Cole Essmann; sister of Laurel McKinley of Fenton and the late Norman Hartner of Holly.
