Hazel Brown
age 91, of Union City, Tennessee, and formerly of Plymouth, died December 6, 2003. She was born January 3, 1912. She grew up on a farm in Tennessee. She was a homemaker and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Plymouth. She enjoyed needlework, cooking, visiting with friends, and being with her family. She is survived by her children, Joyce (Bill) Benjamin of Wixom, and Janet Phillips of Farmington Hills; her grandchildren, James Mills of Grand Blanc, Steven (Jenifer) Lamb of Allen Park, Renee (Bob) Kropp of Wixom, Kathy Pyke of Wixom, Kevin (Deanna) Brown of Florida, and Gina (Richard) Harrington of Florida; and eight great grandchildren. J. Del Kauffman
age 73, of Plymouth, died December 5, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, James Delmer (Paula) Kauffman, III, Jeffrey (Donna) Kauffman, Paul (Dawn) Kauffman, and Julie (Mark) Phillips; and nine grandchildren. Harold Martin
age 67, of Florida, formerly of Plymouth and Canton, died December 2, 2003. He was born January 4, 1936, in Detroit. He made his home in Canton, Michigan, until June 2000, when he moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida. He served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1956, and has been a member of the Plymouth VFW since that time. He was employed by General Motors in the Hydramatic Division, Local Union 735, which he retired from in 1981. He was also a member of the Masons for 35 years. He married the late Patricia Ann Calkins in 1957, and raised three sons until her death in 1982, God Bless Mom. He then met Annabelle, who lost her late husband John Mayer, in 1981, God Bless Dad. The two families joined as one. The past twenty years, Harold had been happily married to Annabelle, love you Mom. Harold and Annabelle shared their lives together, along with family, the joy of golf, bowling, and traveling fulfilled their life and times together. Harold was a loving father, friend, and mentor to many. He will be truly missed. Ann Riley
age 73, of Canton, died December 3, 2003. She was born February 9, 1930, in Chattham, Ontario. She came to the Canton community in 1979. She was a retired bookkeeper in the automotive industry, and recently worked at Longacre House in Farmington. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Ontario University in 1952. She served as President of the VFW Post #6695 Auxilliary in Plymouth, and was a member of the Plymouth Elks Vivians. She spoke six languages, English, Greek, Russian, German, French, and Latin. She was avid reader who loved history. She adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Floyd; her sons, Kevin (Heidi) of Campbellsport, WI, and Greg (Pat)of Belleville; her grandchildren, David and Elizabeth; her lifelong friend Soter (Connie) Liberty; and many other loving friends and relatives. Dominic Persichini
age 70, of Plymouth, died December 2, 2003, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. He was born September 13, 1933, in Italy. He came to the Plymouth community 25 years ago from Garden City. He was the retired owner of Air Gage Company in Livonia, which is still in existence today. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Plymouth. He was a current member of the Italian-American Club in Livonia, and a former member of the Livonia Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed golf and tennis and was an avid card player. He especially loved food and his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine “Kaye;” his children, David of Boca Raton, Florida, Diane (Marvin) Yanke of Plymouth, Debra (Keith) Strucel of Commerce, and Daniel of Boca Raton, Florida; his grandchildren, Meredyth, Anna, Anthony, and Gabrielle Yanke, Kristina, Alexandra, and Erica Strucel, and Dominic Persichini; his brother and sister, Marino (Ruth) Persichini of Warren, and Alice (Sam) Sbrocca of Shelby; and his brother-in-law, John (Lena) Oddo of Shelby. Barbara Jean Daul
Barbara Jean Daul of Canton, formerly of Milford died August 5th, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with depression. She was forty years old. Born on December 13th, 1962 in Rockford, Illinois, and moved with her family to Milford in 1973. She attended Muir Junior High School and was a graduate of Milford High School, class of 1981. Later, she trained as a beautician and made her career as a hairdresser and cosmetologist for the past eighteen years at J.C. Penny’s of Twelve Oaks Mall. Barbie loved to dance. She loved disco music and street dancing. In the early eighties she appeared twice on “Dance Fever” and won regional competitions that earned her a trip to California where she danced in the finals. She loved the sun and beaches and enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas. Through all her struggles, Barbara never lost her playful sense of humor. She was a joy to be around and will be missed by many. Barb is survived by her mother, Elaine Daul of Brighton; her father, John (Karen) Daul of Farmington; her brothers and sisters, Patrick (Sheila) Daul of Brighton, Michael (Kathy) Daul of Brighton, Mary Kay Schultheis of Brighton, John (Debbie) Daul of White Lake, Robert (Sue) Daul of Waterford, Tim (Holly) Daul of Livonia, Lori (Steve) Radzville of Lake Tahoe, and Andrew (Robyn) Daul of Linden. Michael Millard Reader
of Milford, died Nov. 26, 2003 at his home in Milford, in the care of his family and Arbor Hospice. He was 50 years old. Born July 11, 1953 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he was the son of Russell Burton and Mary (Sellon) Reader. He grew up and went to school in Milford where he graduated from Milford High School in 1971. He continued his studies at Michigan State University, studying horticulture and literature. He was an avid reader with broad tastes and appreciation, from Shakespeare to Ray Bradbury, Tolkien to Vonnegut. And Mike loved music, especially Rock and Roll and great guitarists. Jeff Beck, Warren Davies, The Steve Miller Band, Bob Marley and Jerry Garcia and The Grateful Dead were just a few of the many musicians he loved. He might have written for Rolling Stone, so comprehensive was his knowledge of the music of his times. Michael is survived by his companion of over twenty-five years, Barbara Miller, his mother Mary Reader, his brother, Tige (Colleen) Reader, and sisters, Julie Ann Reader, Robin Barnes, Martha (Wayne) Field, Susan (David) Dieck, Mary (Ric)Lazar, Anne (Kerry McClean) Reader and Georgia Reader. age 87, of Plymouth, died July 26, 2003. She was born April 4, 1916, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a resident of Ann Arbor for over twenty-one years. She was also a former resident of London, Ontario, and Taylor, Michigan. Raymond Melow
age 91, of Redford, died August 13, 2003. He was born October 8, 1911, in Livonia. He came to the Redford community in 1957, from Livonia. He was the retired manager of Harold Thomas Nursery. He loved to play golf, and was lucky enough to hit three holes-in-one in his lifetime. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
