Ralph F. Cleaver, age 82 of Holly died Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 29, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, with Mr. Jim Marks officiating. Military honors will be under the auspices of Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW and Amel Schwartz Post #149 American Legion. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Sunday and from 12-2 PM Monday. Mr. Cleaver was born in Holly on Sept. 12, 1926 the son of Guy and Anna (Goutz) Cleaver. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army and was a former owner of OK Market of Holly. He was a member of the Hulet-Bravender Post #5587 VFW and was a former member of the HVA, Holly Kiwanis, and Holly Township Park Commission. Surviving are his wife Joyce; 4 children, Kevin (Shelley) Cleaver of Linden, Danelle (Dennis) Martin of Presque Isle, Curtis Stowe of Holly, and Guy (Renne) Cleaver of Holly; 6 grandchildren; brother Robert Cleaver of Grand Blanc; and sister Delores Schultz of Holly. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lucille Oberheim, Lavina Welch, and Ona Fields. Memorial donations may be made to Holly High School Athletics.
Gertrude Barnes Skinner, age 107, formerly of Holly, died June 20. Beloved wife of the late Harold R. Skinner; dear mother of Ursula "Sue" (Virgil) Ross and Elihu "Al" (Lee) Skinner; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Graveside services 1 PM Tues. June 23, Burlington Center Cemetery, Burlington, CT.
Joann Weiler, age 72 of East Jordan, died Friday, June 12, 2009 amoungst her family in Holly, MI. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, MI. Shortly thereafter, a memorial service will be held to celebrate her life, beginning at 4:00 PM. Joann was born on January 2, 1937 in Rochester, MI, the daughter of Burros "Bud" and Bertha Bastedo. On April 10, 1971 in Pontiac, MI, she married Joseph F. Weiler. Fiercely independent, she loved to ride four wheelers and travel in her motor home. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters; Sherry Frederiksen of Holly, Shellie (Tom) Palmer of Morgantown, Tennessee, Terrie Harvey of Romeo, and three step-sons, Bill (Shelley) Weiler of Pontiac, Jeff (Brenda) Weiler of Flat Rock, and Joe C. Weiler of Pontiac. Joann had twenty-four grandchildren and numerous great-grand children. Also surviving is her sister, Nola (Stan) Tolalon and brother, Jerry Bastedo. Her parents preceded her in death. Memorials may be made in her honor the Hospice of Jensen, age 87 of Holly died Sunday, June 7, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Tuesday at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mr. Jensen, and then was raised in Trufant, Mi. He lived in his home in Holly for 52 years and was proud that all 5 of his kids graduated from Holly High School. He was retired from General Motors. Surviving are his wife Janet; 5 children, Linda Groner of Kalkaska, Peter (Denise) Jensen of GA, J. William Jensen of Cadillac; 12 grandchildren, Cynthia, Duane, Katie, Randy, Debbie, Andy, Billy Joe, Charlie, Justin, Jonathan, Brenda, and Becky; 8 great-grandchildren; Taylor, Seth, Wyatt, Eric, Jayden, Mariah, Jenna, and William. He was preceded in death by his first wife Edna Sherman A. (Nancy) Beeler and Peggy L. (Jack) Tegel; great-great-grandfather Charles T. Beeler; great-great-grandmother Hazel (Al) Caughenbaugh; aunts Sabrina, Sunni, Shailoh, and Selah; uncle Soloman; great-aunts Andrea (Brad) Teague, Jessica Beeler, Grace Beeler; great-uncles Kevin Beeler, and Joshua Beeler; and a host of other relatives.
Robert A. Murtha, age 73 of Traverse City, MI died March 4, 2009. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, Fri. May 29, 2009 at St. Rita Catholic Church of Holly with Father David Blazek, Celebrant.. Interment and Military Honors will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Roy Patrick Terry, age 61 of Fowlerville died Sunday, May 3, 2009. Military honors and inurnment will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Melvin Feole, age 69 of Holly died Tues. April 28, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Sat. May 2, 2009 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Father David Blazek officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday. Mr. Feole was born on Jan. 31, 1940. He was retired from General Motors. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Feole on Jan. 22, 2009. Surviving are his son Melvin Feole Jr.; 3 step-children, Laurie Jordan of Holly, Ilene Kennedy of Port Hope, and Joseph Seconder of GA; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister Betty Hoffman of Waterford; sister Carrie Christianson of Pontiac; and brother Russell Feole of Livonia. Memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
