Anna R. Brody, age 77 of Holly died Thurs. Jan. 17, 2008 ay Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. Jan. 21, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Fenton with Pastor Dean Dumbrille officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Sat. and Sun. at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Mrs. Brody was born in Chicago, IL on Nov. 23, 1930 the daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Zambo) Sebastian. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Fenton, was a church organist for many years, and was an employee of the Holly Police Dept. She loved gardening and crafts, and especially cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by 8 children, Roy (Susie) Brody of Linden, William (Kathleen) Brody of Holly, Al (Shelley) Brody of Fenton, Debbie (the late Joseph) Armstead of Holly, Steven (Cheryl) Brody of Swartz Creek, Renee` (Terry) Keener of Holly, Suzi (Shawn) Alejandro of Fenton, Sheri (Lewis) Ball of Swartz Creek; 21 grandchildren, including special granddaughter 3 year old Hayley; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Joan DeSmedt of IL; step-mother Jean Sebastian of IL; and best friend Bernice Riggs of Holly. She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise Davis and brother George Sebastian. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund.
Eula M. Nichols, age 79 of Holly was called home to her rest on Thurs. Jan. 3, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Sat. January 12, 2008 at Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Holly with Pastor W.E. Whitaker and Pastor Eugene Blankenship officiating. A Family Hour will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Holly. Mrs. Nichols was born in Atlanta, GA on Sept. 17, 1928 the daughter of Burdeen and Ruby Kilpatrick. She leaves to mourn; daughters, Penelope Young, Patricia (fiancée Glen Hall) Nichols, and Willio (Thomas) Dean; sons James (Ruth) Nichols, Harvey (Mary) Nichols Jr., Billie (Betty) Nichols, Willie (Faye) Nichols, John (Jewell) Nichols, and Anthony (Patricia) Nichols; 4 grandchildren, Paul, Torrey, Pamela, and Latesha Nichols; 3 great-grandchildren, Paulanice Nichols, Paul Nichols, and Asia Nichols Bell. Joyce Marie Lloyd, age 58 of St. Helen, formerly of Holly died Mon. Dec. 31, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, Jan. 4, 2008 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Rev. Mrs. Lloyd was born in Pontiac on March 18, 1949 the daughter of George and Marguerite (Rivard) Vallette. She is survived by her husband Alex; 2 children Robert (Rachel) Davies of Holly and Johnette Davies of PA; step-son John A. Lloyd of Waterford; 3 grandchildren, Thomas and Erica Davies and John A. Lloyd Jr.;1 great-grandson Gabriel; and brothers Charles Vallette of St. Helen and Gerald Vallette of Holly. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Norma Jean Hall and Patricia Heidler and brothers George D. and Melvin L. Vallette. Sarah Beaubien, age 71 of Waterford died Mon. Dec 31, 2007. She was born in Auburn Heights on Dec. 3, 1936 the daughter of Frank and Alice (Coons) Polasek. She was a loving mother to Pat (Tom Topolnicki) Beaubien of Waterford and Sara (Rich Dann) Beaubien of Holly; loving grandmother to Zachary and Alexander; and sister to Bill Polasek of Auburn Hills and Marie Coder of FL. Larry L. Volz, age 66 of Holly and Fenton, died Fri. Dec. 28, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mon. Dec. 31, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Jim Wiegand officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 P.M. Sat. and 2-9 P.M. Sun. Mr. Volz was born in Marlette on Dec. 1, 1941 the son of Albert and Beatrice (Greneisen) Volz. He retired from Holly High School where he was a wood shop teacher and coach. He was also well known in the area as a sports official. Surviving are his wife Kay; 2 children, Mike Volz of Linden and Rhonda (David) McCarty of Holly Twp.; 6 grandchildren, Kristi, Nikki, and Michael Volz and Kyle, Kasey, and Kara McCarty; brothers Carl Volz and Jerry Volz both of Marlette; sisters Mary Lue Woods of Caro, Alberta Schinzing and Lotti Beltz both of FL and several nieces and nephews. The family gives special thanks to Jeff and Sharon for all their help and support. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Freedom Center of Fenton or Genesys Hospice.
Mary E. O'Connell, formerly of Holly died Fri. Dec. 21, 2007 in Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thurs. Dec. 27, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Wednesday. Mrs. O'Connell was born in Springfield, TN on June 30, 1919 the daughter of Conklin and Molly (Hulsey) Austin. She operated an adult foster care home in Holly for many years. Surviving are her daughter Candy (John) Hokanson of Atlanta; son William Jerry Austin of FL; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil O'Connell in 1994.
Judith Ann Verla, age 61 of Fenton died Wed. Dec. 19, 2007 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Sat. Mrs. Verla was born in Pontiac on Oct. 25, 1946 the daughter of Richard and Esther (Masters) Griffin. She was a dedicated employee of Woodspecs, Inc. of Waterford for 25 years. She was a member of the Carpenter's House Church of Holly for over 30 years, serving as an Intercessor and Deacon. Surviving are 3 children, Cary (Greg) Smith of Holly, David Verla of East Pointe, and Kim (Terry) Vernon of Holly; 6 grandchildren, Devon, Griffin, Hannah, Micayla, Abigail, and Isabella; father Richard Griffin of Birmingham; 2 brothers, John Griffin of Hartland and Jay Griffin of Birmingham; niece Liz Larson of Warren; and nephew Walter Larson of Madison Heights. She was preceded in death by her mother Esther and sister Janet Larson. Memorial donations may be given to the family.

She married Warren E. Rowe on Nov. 15, 1925 in Batesville, Arkansas She was employee at AC Spark Plug for 25 years, retiring in 1969. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and growing dahlias. Mrs. King was born in Royal Oak on Feb. 18, 1909 the daughter of Henry and Maud (VanWagoner) Stevens. She was a former resident of Westacres Subdivision of West Bloomfield and was a former member of the Orchard Lake Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Holly. Surviving are her son John S. King of Holly; daughter Linda Weil of Holly; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law Helen Stevens of Adrian. She was preceded in death by her husband Stockton King, grandson Marcus Weil, sister Blanch Stevens, and brothers John and Harold Stevens. Ray L. Everett, age 67 of Davisburg died Sat. Dec. 8, 2007 at home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly with Pastor Tigg Vanaman officiating. Interment and military honors will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 4-9 PM Tuesday and from 2-9 PM Wednesday. Mr. Everett was born in Albion, MI on June 5, 1940 the son of Dale and Ethel Everett. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Air Force. He was a former fireman and professional clown in Albion, and also delighted many as Santa Claus for decades. He was a member of Great Lakes Baptist Church of Holly and the Albion American Legion. Surviving are his wife Kathleen (Racine Vitale) Everett; 5 children, Dawn Abbey of Jackson, Michele (Patrick) Taylor of Battle Creek, Heather Everett of IN, Bruce Vitale of OH, and Eve Vitale Warnez of Ortonville; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; former wife Sharon Everett of Albion; twin sister, Faye Lavay of WA and sister Mary Ann Peterson of FL.
