Anderson, Arthur T.

Passed away Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Covenant Health Care –Cooper, age 76 years. Arthur T. Anderson was born on May 19, 1931 in Midland County, MI to the late Andrew and Emma (Wahl) Anderson. He married Dollie Yates on November 19, 1955 in Saginaw, celebrating almost 52 years of marriage; she survives him. Arthur graduated from Saginaw High School in 1949 and from Central Michigan University in 1958. Arthur then went on and earned Master’s and Specialist Degrees from Central Michigan University in Administration. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War as a Communications Specialist. He was a life-long educator, teaching at Arthur Eddy Junior High School and was Assistant Principal at Webber and North Junior High Schools, retiring in 1988. Arthur was very active within St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, holding many offices including a recently completed term as president of the congregation. He volunteered at Michigan Lutheran Seminary, and with READ and HOSTS reading programs at Jesse Rouse Elementary and St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School. Surviving besides his wife Dollie are three children: Vicki Anderson Pinckney, Holt, MI, Thomas Anderson, Saginaw, MI, and Kathy (Brian) Hensler, Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren: Kendra Moyses, Craig and Carolyn Pinckney, Jeffrey and Matthew Hensler. Also surviving are two brothers, Allen Anderson, and Andrew L. (Phyllis) Anderson, and two sisters, Alice LaBeau and Betty Songalewski.
Funeral - Arthur’s Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at Court and Bond. Pastor Carl T. Otto will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Bailie, Edmund James

Passed away Friday, January 18, 2008 at Meadowview Manor with his family at his side. Edmund J. Bailie was born on March 28, 1915 to the late James and Sophie (Doyle) Bailie. He married Elsie Spence Simpson on February 7, 1945 in Ayr, Scotland. She preceded him in death on March 16, 1994. Ed was employed by General Motors and retired in 1971. He truly enjoyed helping everyone. Ed was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church for 40 years and was a veteran of WWII. The family wishes to thank the staff at Meadowview Manor and SouthernCare Hospice for all their care. Surviving are six children: Jim (Sandi) Bailie, Saginaw; Margaret (Larry) Shapland, Saginaw; Kathleen Bailie, Warren; Theresa (Rick) Rushlow, Columbia, South Carolina; Brian (Kate) Bailie, Freeland; Barbara (Brad) Dietzel, Saginaw; Dan Kilbourn and his daughter Danielle, Saginaw; ten grandchildren, Marci, Jayne, Kelsie, Laurie, Tricia, Scott, Timothy, Kori, Chad, and Drew; and ten great-grandchildren. Edmund was preceded in death by a daughter, Eileen Fons; and three sisters, Helen Kilbourn, Margaret Mueller, and Mae Bailie.
Funeral - Edmund’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 2122 S. Jefferson Avenue. Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military Services will be conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post 439.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil honoring Edmund will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Beebe, Janie (Buckelew) Gambill

Passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007 at her home with her family at her side. Age 67 years. Janie Buckelew was born on October 2, 1939 in Corunna, Michigan to the late Marvin and Frederica (Sanftleben) Buckelew. Janie had been employed by General Motors for 25 years working in plants 4 and 6 from where she retired 1995. She was a member of the UAW Local 699 where she managed the plants as a committee person. Surviving are is one daughter, Pati Beebe; a son, Brad (Kim) Beebe; her little dog Bosco; four grandchildren, Brenda, Brandon, Christina, and Connie Beebe; five great-grandchildren, Rayna, Lexi, Karma, Timmy, and Annie Beebe; a sister Nancy Wiliams, Owosso; sister-in-law, Bonnie Buckelew, Tawas; brother-in-law, Jerry Moeller Saginaw; special friends, Annie Brothers and Dale Ostrander, Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. Janie is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Carole Moeller and Brenda Fox; and a brother, Gary Buckelew. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle from Heartland Hospice. Following Janie’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Good Morning! This is how our beloved Marv would greet each and everyone no matter the time of day. His loving and jovial spirit will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Marvin E. Berry passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper. Age 74 years. He was born on November 29, 1931 in Grand Rapids to the late Gladys (Morningstar) and Niram Berry. Marv married Joan May Phillips. He then married Joan Marie (Fischer) Beutel on December 29, 1990 in Saginaw. He was extremely proud of their 15 years of marriage, and they enjoyed wintering in Panama City, Florida for the last 10 years. Marv was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School in 1950. He was a veteran and served with the US Army. Marv was employed with Shear Tool for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting and Tiger Baseball. Marv was a former member of Second Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides his beloved wife, Joan are his children, Michelle (Brian) Hill, Carolyn (John) Butler, Stephen (Candy) Berry; step-children, Barbara Fritz, Beverly (Patrick) Kelley, Robert H. (Cheryl) Beutel; grandchildren, Katie and Christie Hill, Alise and Andrew Butler; eight step-grandchildren and many cousins. Marv was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Berry.
Funeral - Funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Pastor John Butler will officiate. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Mausoleum.

Passed away March 4, 2005 in Vestal, New York. She died at her home surrounded by her family. Mary married Andrew Bain in 1984. He preceded her in death. Mary was a very special friend and Mother. She enjoyed many years of bowling and bingo. Mary was a long time member of The Moose Lodge Chapter #420. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Earl Clark of Vestal, New York; grandson, Earl Jr. and granddaughter, Connie Clark of Jarfalla, Sweden. Mary had eight great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her very special friends, Mark and Carrie Ciolek. She is predeceased by her husband and her granddaughter, Andra Sack.

Passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007 at Triumph Hospital. Age 67 years. Roger L. Bishop was born November 25, 1939 in Elkton, MI to the late Wayne and Marion (Lobert) Bishop.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Kimberly and son-in-law, Kevin Nowak; granddaughter, Maya Nowak; one son, Kurt Bishop; a daughter, Chris Bishop and their children; five brothers, Dennis Bishop, Terrence Bishop, Eugene Bishop, Gary Bishop, Michael Bishop; one sister, Sharon Petty; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Bishop.

Clara was called home to her Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2006 from the Covenant Medical Center-Cooper at the age of 93 years. Clara L. Daenzer was born on May 7, 1912 in Frankenmuth to the late George and Anna (Haas) Daenzer. She was married to Carl J. Block on July 19, 1936 in Frankenmuth. He predeceased her on October 13, 1992. Clara was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Birch Run, and its choir, the Ladies Aid Society and was a Sunday School teacher. Prior to her retirement in 1979, Clara was employed by the Bavarian Inn for 18 years. Surviving are two daughters, three sons and their spouses, Deborah (Don) Buffington, Saginaw; Kathy (Tom) Walz, Dallas, TX; Mel (Mary) Block, Forrest Park, Ill; Rollie (Barb) Block, Gaylord; Ernie (Tina) Block, DeWitt; one daughter-in-law, Mary (Rev. George) Gude, Dorsey, Ill; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Rasmussen, Wisc.; two sisters-in-law, Viola Block, Birch Run; Helen Zeilinger, Frankenmuth; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Clara was predeceased by her son, Gordon Block, four brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to thank the staff at Saginaw Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care of Carla.
Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church, 8101 Poellet, Birch Run. The Rev. Richard P. Hillenbrand will officiate. Burial will follow in Flint Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
