Passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Luther Manor Nursing Home. Ann M. Viola was born August 6, 1924 in Saginaw to the late Samuel and Josephine (Carelli) Viola. She married Albert Buchholz on September 21, 1948 and they celebrated 59 years together. Ann was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church and was employed by Stardust Lanes for 23 years.
Ann is survived by her husband Albert, children: Roger (Diane) Jankowski, Mary Ann (Don) DeRop, and Robert (Patricia) Buchholz all of Saginaw, Dennis (Sue) Buchholz of Sevierville, Tenn., and Nancy (Daniel) Vogt of Ypsilanti, Mich.; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Reif and Rosemary Zobka; and brothers, John and Joseph Viola.
Funeral - Funeral Liturgy for Ann will take place 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd., Fr. Emmet L. Marceau will officiate. Private entombment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Ann will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

BUERKEL, MRS. MARION EMMA HELEN,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Marion was called home to her Lord on Sunday, March 14, 2004 from Tendercare of Frankenmuth. Age 87 years. She was born April 3, 1916 in Saginaw Twp. to the late Oscar and Anna (Metzger) Zoellner. Marion was married to George J. Buerkel on September 23, 1939 in Bridgeport. He predeceased her on March 6, 1993. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 64 years and a member of its Dorcas Society and Golden Agers. She also volunteered at Bethesda Resale Store for 28 years. Surviving are one son, two daughters and their spouses, Donald Buerkel and Anna, North Powder, OR; Barbara and Kenny Poellet, Frankenmuth; Patsy J. Buerkel, Vassar; three grandchildren, Dean Poellet, Vassar; Dellet B. Poellet, Dale and Cheryl Poellet, Frankenmuth; one great-grandson, Andrew Martin, Frankenmuth. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters-in-law, Herman and Lorine Zoellner and Suzy Zoellner, all of Frankenmuth. Marion was preceded in death by a brother, John Zoellner and two sisters, Lillian Kraenzlein and Esther Kipfmiller.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3829 Lamson St. Rev. J. Robert Herrod and Rev. William W. Hessler will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Carne, Alene L.

Passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Age 62 years. Alene Walters was born on November 18, 1945 in Saginaw to the late Roy and Emma (Sziede) Walters. She married Sherwin (Sherry) M. Carne on April 29, 1970. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2003. Alene enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons, Frederick Carne (Carrie Hodges), James Carne (Erica Eimers); five step-children; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, Maxine Desonia, Marilyn (Vince) Cummings, Sharon Dilas, her twin sister, Helen Lee, Donald (Betty) Walters and many nieces and nephews. Alene was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Jerry and Albert Walters. According to Alene’s wishes cremation has taken place.
SERVICE: A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Chaplin Wayne Shidler will officiate.
Visitation - Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m.

Carr, Rollo Russell
Saginaw Township, MI
Passed away Friday evening March 25, 2005 at Cartwright Hospice Residence Center.
Age 94 years. Rollo was born to the late Lillian (DeBoer) and Archie Carr in Big
Rapids Michigan on April 2, 1910. He married Grace Maxine Brown on September 2, 1939 in Saginaw at First Baptist Church. She survives him. Rollo was a member of First Baptist Church where he was very active in being involved in the spiritual welfare of the church. Rollo had been employed by Dow Chemical, as an accountant retiring in 1975 after 30 years of service.
Surviving besides his wife Grace are his children: John Carr, Paul Carr, Mary Carr Elsen, Tom Carr and his fiancé Brenda Baroody; grandchildren, Shannon (Tina) Carr, Lance (Katie) Carr, Chad (Donna) Carr, Tyrone Carr, Derek Carr, Stephen Newton, Rebekah (Tim) Purdy, Rachel (Michael) Gilbert, Philip Millard, Kyle Carr, Kristen Elsen, Sara Elsen and nine great-grandchildren. Rollo was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine and Vivian. Rollo’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the great and loving care received from Edgewood Assisted Living Center, Covenant Transitional Care Unit and Cartwright Hospice Residence Center.

Passed away Tuesday morning November 2, 2004 at his home. Age 88 years. Joseph L. Cesere was born on June 15, 1916 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Leo and Anna (Delesio) Cesere. He married Adelina Calvinisti on February 21, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives him. Joe had been employed by Dodge City Lumber Company for ten years. He also worked for General Motors retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Joe loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle with his wife. Surviving besides his wife Adelina are two nephews and a niece; Peter J. (Pat) Cesere of Williamsburg, MI; Leo A. (Ann) Cesere of Frankenmuth, MI; and Marianne (Jack) Paquette of Saginaw. Also surviving are many great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends. Joe was preceded in death by a brother Peter L. Cesere and a nephew Robert L. Cesere.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2004 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd. Rev. Loren M. Kalinowski will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Military services conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post # 439. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008. Age 80 years. Ofelia Acosta was born on March 5, 1927 in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, coming to the United States in 1946. Fay helped manage the Las Vegas Bar for many years with her life partner, Mr. Francisco “Pancho” Diaz, who preceded her in death in 1993. With his help, she raised five children of which four are left to mourn her, Mary Lou (Maria) Sanchez, Christina (Tina) Cisneros, Sarah (Tom) LaFlair and Carlos (Nancy) Cisneros. Fay was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores “Lolly” Karst. She also leaves her grandchildren who she dearly loved, Michael and Lety Sanchez, Brandon (Liz) Karst and Elena Karst, Alejandra Cisneros, Carlos and Tommy Laverty, Kristen and Marissa Cisneros; two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Aida Karst; step-grandchildren, Geoff LaFlair and Karen (Joshua) Wiemer. Also surviving are two brothers, Julio (Ramona) Acosta and Ocsar Acosta.
Funeral - Ofelia’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Sixth Street. Rev. Ramiro Trejo OFMCap will officiate. Rite of committal will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Passed away Friday December 3, 2004 at his home. Age 76. Milan J. Cittel was born March 17, 1928 in Saginaw to the late Milan and Ann (Riley) Cittel. He married Patricia L. Bertram June 11,1949 in Saginaw at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She survives him. He had been employed by Jones Transfer Co. He was a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He was a volunteer fireman for Bridgeport Township for 35 years. Surviving besides his wife, Patricia are three sons and one daughter. Jim (Mary) Cittel, Bridgeport. Janis (Mike) Rump, Saginaw, Brad Cittel, Bridgeport, Mark (Stephanie) Cittel, Saginaw. Five grandchildren, Tyler Rump, Bradley and Derek Cittel, Kaylee and Paige Cittel.
