Passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Shattuck Manor. Age 100 years. Adella H. Neumann was born on June 8, 1907 to the late Hugo and Maria (Schairer) Neumann. She married Menno J. Finkbeiner in June of 1925 in Highland Park, Michigan. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1978. Adella raised five children and was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. Surviving are her children, Mary Wedding, Verna Ledtke, Ronald (Mabel) Finkbeiner, Roger (Sandra) Finkbeiner, Janet Wells, Canadaigua, New York; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and a dear sister Elsie (Larry) Brock.
Funeral - Private family services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Interment will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
Forster, Doreen J.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at The Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 76 years. Doreen Heslop was born on November 2, 1930 in London, Ontario to the late Karl and Jesse Heslop. She wed Dr. Kenneth Forster on June 29, 1953 in Cobourg, Ontario. He survives her. Doreen owned and operated The Plant Lady, a plant maintenance service, serving local businesses for many years. She was a Past President for the Saginaw County Medical Society Auxiliary and a chairperson at the Saginaw Museum. She served as a volunteer at Covenant HeathCare and at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Doreen enjoyed performing at the Pit and Balcony. Surviving beside her husband, Kenneth are a daughter, Patricia Forster-Alderton; a son-in-law, Del Alderton; four sons, Wayne Forster, Gary Forster, John Forster and David Forster; two brothers, Kenneth (Fern) Heslop and Bill (Barb) Heslop. Doreen’s family would like to thank the staff of Covenant HeathCare, especially her RN, Jeff for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided.
Funeral - Doreen’s Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). The Rev. Darren Elin will officiate. According to Doreen’s wishes cremation will follow.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Friday, July 6, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Foss, Virginia

Passed away on Friday, November 26, 2004 at Luther Manor Nursing Home. Age 90 years. Virginia Marie Hemmingway was born on August 13, 1914 in Auburn to the late Jay and Helena (Foster) Hemmingway. She married Gottfried Foss on June 9, 1935. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1995. Virginia had been employed as a teacher and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Victor (Carol) Foss, Saginaw; Jeanine Westendorf, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Melanie (Mark) Stoetzer, Amy (David) Miller and Mitchell (Shannon) Foss; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Clinton Hemmingway and one sister, Mildred Scranton. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, James Hemmingway.
Funeral Service will take place on Monday, November 29, 2004 at a place to be announced later. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum. FOWLER, MRS. VERONA V.,

Passed away Sunday, November 14, 2004 at the Chesaning Nursing Care Center. Age 84 years. Verona was born February 23, 1920 in St. Charles, Mich. to the late James and Mae (Smitter) Hunt. She was married to Archie R. Fowler and he predeceased her September 2, 1978. Verona was employed as a clerk at Dave’s Department Store in St. Charles for several years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in St. Charles, she volunteered and donated artifacts to the Hartley Outdoor Education Center, she also enjoyed social groups, seniors and bingo. Surviving are four children; Judy Potter, Flint; Dolly Holzhausen, Owosso; Joan Myers, Mt. Pleasant; James Fowler, St. Charles. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda Owens, St. Charles; Evelyn Stewart, Flint; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very special friend, Donna. Verona was predeceased by two grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will take place 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Dr. Harold J. Slater and the Saginaw Chippewa Spiritual Leader, Don Otto will be officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Wednesday from 2:00p.m. until the time of service. Passed away Thursday, December 18, 2003 at Martin Luther Saginaw Home. Age 94 years. Leona Zorn was born June 4, 1909 to Michael and Louise (Hoffman) Zorn. She married Andrew A. French on May 6, 1941 in Saginaw. He predeceased her on April 23, 1987. Leona was a member of Holy Cross Ev. Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Rudy (Marilyn) Joyce, DesMoines, Wash.; Michael (Sandra) French, Saginaw; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Zorn, Jr., a sister, Lillian Geyer, a son, Kenneth Joyce.
According to Leona’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Timothy J. Loewe will officiate. Inurnment took place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Garey, Margaret R.

Passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at St. Francis Nursing Home. Age 93 years. Margaret Roth was born on January 3, 1914 in Saginaw to the late Conrad & Clara (Greve) Roth. She married Woodrow W. Wilcox in 1941. He predeceased her in death in 1948. She married John T. Garey on May 11, 1955 in Saginaw. He also predeceased her in 1987, after 32 years of marriage. Margaret “Meg” Garey graduated from Saginaw High School in 1932. Margaret and her sister-in-law, Audrey Nelson owned a women’s boutique called The Mardrey Shop in the Morley Arcade. Meg was a devoted volunteer who worked tirelessly for her community. She was in charge of purchasing at the Saginaw General Hospital Gift Shop. Past president of the Assistance League of Saginaw, membership chairman of the Hospital Hospitality House, and member of the St. Mary’s Children’s Free Ward board for many years. She was also belonged to Lawyer’s Wife’s of Saginaw.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara W. (Lawrence) Schmitzer of Oregon, Wisc.; three grandchildren, Anne Elizabeth (Tim) Cerny, Racine, Wisc.; Thomas Garey (Sheilah) Schmitzer, Waukesha, Wisc.; Michael Wilcox (Elizabeth) Schmitzer, Brookfield, Wisc.; six great-grandchildren, Margaret Anne, Michael C. and Madeline E. Cerny, Thomas G. Schmitzer Jr., John Keyes and Margaret Mary Schmitzer; one brother, Jack Roth, Au Gres, and his son John (Denise) Roth. Also Surviving is Margaret’s longtime friend and caregiver, Terry Gaertner.
Funeral - Margaret’s Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 at The Deisler Funeral Home 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State). Pastor Julie Bailey will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Gates, Pamela Ann

Died, surrounded by her family at her home, on Friday, November 16, 2007 after battling cancer, age 50 years. Pamela Ann Gates was born on June 7, 1957, in Saginaw, to the late Clark and Patricia (Patton) Gates. Pamela attended Ferris State University and was a graduate of Muskingum College in New Concord, OH. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Saginaw Area schools. She was currently employed with Covenant Hospital. Pamela was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. She was a volunteer in the READ program for many years. She enjoyed being with family, traveling, and playing Black Jack. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bartnick and his staff, and VNA Hospice for their loving and wonderful care during Pamela’s long battle with cancer. Surviving are her brother, Craig Gates; aunt and uncle, Betty and Harry Booth, Grand Rapids; loving cousins, Jan (Steve) Schaefer, Schoolcraft; Diane (David) Stout, Grandville; Karen (Rick) Sasso, Grandville; three nieces and one nephew, Kristina (Frank) Rinderspacher, Schoolcraft; Rebecca Sasso (Tim Griffith) Augusta, GA; Kelly Schaefer, Grand Rapids; Jason Sasso, Grandville; two grandnephews, Logan and Luke Rinderspacher; dear friends, the Vawter Family and the Hall Family. Besides her parents, Pamela was preceded in death by her aunt, Virginia Gates. Following Pamela’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
