Passed away Monday, March 13, 2006 at Covenant Emergency Care Center following a lengthy illness. Stephan was born on May 9, 1961 in Laguna Beach , Calif. to Pat D. and Shirley A. (Clark) Savage. She had worked at the VA Hospital in Saginaw. Stephan was quick-witted, funny, had a heart of gold, loved life and her family. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Christina Vasquez Savage; her son, Stephen Pat Vasquez; granddaughter, Alexis Marie Gonzalez, all of Saginaw; her mother, Shirley A. Savage, Midland; three sisters, Diane Newman, Bridgeport; Sherie (Robert) Anderson, Wisc.; Patty (Paul) Lickman, Midland; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her longtime companion, John Vasquez and the Vasquez and Hernandez families. Stephan was predeceased by her father, Pat D. Savage and twin brother, Stephen Arthur Savage.
Private services were held for Stephan. Memories and sympathies may be shared with the family. SCHMIDT, MRS. MARGARET L.,

Passed away Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Martin Luther Memorial Home. Age 84 years. Margaret was born April 27, 1919 in Great Falls, Mon. to the late William L. and Mary (Dishman) Smith. She married George Schmidt on April 17, 1944 in San Francisco, Ca. He survives her. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Maple Hill Golf Club. Surviving besides her husband, George, are two sons, G. Martin (Diane) Schmidt, Freeland; James (Mary) Schmidt, Andover, MN; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary K. Ryan, Pacifica, CA. She was predeceased by her son, Robert G. Schmidt in 1976.
Committal service will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum chapel. The Rev. Carl Otto will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or shared with the family.

Passed away Saturday, April 8, 2006 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 80 years. Hector Charles Shaw was born on February 24, 1926 in Elkton, Mich. to the late Charles and Lily Mae (Livingston) Shaw. Hector served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War, being honorably discharged on Aug. 4, 1952. He then married Ursula J. Gatzsche on December 26, 1953 in Richville, Mich. His wife predeceased him on September 27, 1995. Hector was employed at the GM Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years, retiring in 1984 as an Inspector. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church (on 2nd & Federal Sts.), and the U.A.W. Local #699. Surviving is his daughter, Eveline Gatzsche, Saginaw; also two brothers and one sister, Duncan Shaw, Saginaw; Donald (Bonnie) Shaw, Avon Park, Fla.; Eileen (Arnold) Schrader, Reese, Mich.; many nieces, nephews and his god-son, Edward (Eileen) Schrader, Vassar, Mich., and a very special little girl, Madison Agnew. Hector was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Redburn and Margaret Griswold.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church, 2nd & Federal Sts. The Rev. Paulette Cummings will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, where military honor guard services will be conducted under the auspices of V.F.W. Carrollton Post #1859. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. SMEJKAL, MARY L.,

Mary passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Luther Manor. Age 89 years. Mary Louise Arndt was born January 28, 1915 in Saginaw to the late August and Helen (Smigelski) Arndt. She was married to Fred Smejkal on January 3, 1948 in Saginaw. He predeceased her on May 18, 1993. Prior to Mary’s retirement, she was employed at Montgomery Wards for several years as a clerk. She was a life member of the National D.A.V. auxiliary, member of the Ladies of the Moose, and a member of the Bridgeport-Spaulding Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are her two sisters, Rose Hetzner and Arlene Lehr; and her brother, George Arndt, all of Saginaw; also many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Strunk, and her brother, Norman Arndt.
Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. Pastor Douglas W. Kahl will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., then on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Passed away Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Covenant Emergency Care Center. Age 52 years. Dana L. Tenney was born March 19, 1952 in Saginaw to Olin D. and Margaret L. (Talbot) Tenney. Dana had served in the USMC and was employed at Health Delivery, Inc. She was a member of the Wolga Club having served as Recording Secretary. She was a fan of Saginaw Spirit Hockey and Michigan Football. Surviving are three children, Pamela Mallery, Saginaw; Marissa Smith, Hemlock; Joshua Smith, currently serving in the U.S. armed forces in Iraq; her mother, Margaret Tenney, Saginaw; one brother, David (Stacey) Tenney, Freeland; one sister, Mary (Dennis) Becker, Saginaw; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ethan Daniel Tenney, Freeland; and special niece, Jamie Lynn Sutton; her half-sisters, Barbara Kuschinsky, Oscoda; Joanne (John) Maul, Fla.; Patricia Colpean, Saginaw Twp.; her best friend of 30 years, Gerry Schrank, Saginaw; her Florida family, Chuck, Andrea, Arron, Sheri, Joe, Ginger, Chad and Joey; her turtles, Tippy and Tiny Tim and her cat, Skyler. She was predeceased by her father, Olin D. Tenney.
A celebration of Dana’s life will take place 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. Military honor guard services will be conducted under the auspices of USMC Bravo Co. 124. Passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at her home. Age 85 years. Alvina Beckmann was born June 12, 1918 in Rockford, Ill to the late Louis and Hilda (Smith) Beckmann. She married Albert E. Spitz on March 29, 1941 in Angola, IN. She was a member of Michigan Ave. Baptist Church and its Woman’s Society, Order of the Eastern Star – Bethlehem Chapter and an active member of the Senior Center. Surviving are her children, Rodney D. (Shirley) Spitz, Wisc.; Constance S. (Roger) Ellsworth, Saginaw; Dianne M. (Hiram) Ellsworth, Reese; Linda L. (Alfred) Storch, Saginaw; Deborah A. (Douglas) King, Saginaw; Robert W. (Judie) Spitz, Hemlock; Tamara J. (Jeffrey) Waugh, Freeland; her dear sister, Irene J. Pittenger, Saginaw; one brother, Elmer Beckmann; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister and five brothers.

Pauline was called home to her Lord, Monday, July 19, 2004 at Luther Manor. Age 89 years. Pauline K. Gorte was born December 3, 1914 in Saginaw to the late Alexander and Maria (Lederer) Gorte. She was married to Edward L. Spurbeck on October 23, 1937 in Saginaw, where he survives her. Pauline was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Surviving besides her husband, Edward, are two sons, Kenneth (Betty) Spurbeck, Hemlock; Carey Spurbeck, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Scott Spurbeck, Denver, CO; Brenda Spurbeck, Tacoma, WA; Mark Spurbeck, Troy, MI; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral and committal service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 5051 McCarty Rd. The Rev. Lynn A. Schroeder will officiate.
