Passed away Sunday evening, September 19, 2004 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 91 years. Helen D. (Ahrens) Stahl was born January 16, 1913 in Saginaw to the late Albert and Bessie (Waste) Ahrens. She was married to Samuel S. Stahl on March 26, 1938 and he predeceased her on June 3, 1979. Helen was of the Lutheran Faith. Surviving are her grandchildren, Judy Ette and her fiancée, Scott Graham; Russell (Lynn) Heater, Jr.; Steven S. Heater; great-grandchildren, Stephen L. Ette, Elizabeth and April Heater; son-in-law, Russell Heater, Sr., all of Saginaw; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Lou Heater and her brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Edward L. Kast will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., then on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. STRECKER, AMALIA (MOLLIE),
Saginaw, Michigan.
Mollie was called home to her Lord on Friday, June 11, 2004 from Luther Manor. Age 100 years. She was born on February 5, 1904 in Rosenberg, Saratov area of Russia. Mollie was born to the late Jacob and Mary Elizabeth (Leis) Strecker. She came to America with her parents in July of 1913. Eventually the family settled in Saginaw in May of 1923. Mollie was employed at Saginaw Manufacturing and Saginaw Malleable Iron for several years. She then worked within many homes as a domestic housekeeper, maid and nanny, living with most of the families. This line of work seemed appropriate as she had personal experience through helping her parents care for her younger sisters and brothers. Mollie retired so she could care for her aging parents. She was welcomed as a resident of Luther Manor in January of 1993. Mollie was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. Surviving are her three sisters and two brothers, Lydia Anklam; Rachel Mueller; Leona Kaufmann, all of Saginaw; Alexander (Marie) Strecker, Freeland; Harold (Thelma) Strecker, Jackson; her sister-in-law, Arlene Strecker, Auburn; also many nieces and nephews. Mollie was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Katherine, and her brothers, Henry and Jacob Strecker.
Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 2110 Brockway. The Rev. Dr. Mark J. Molldrem will officiate. Burial will follow later in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. STURTZ, MOLLY, R.N.,

Molly Sturtz, age 87 years, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2004 after a long illness. She was born on October 13, 1917 in Saginaw County to Henry and Marie Sturtz. Her parents, her twin sister, Rosella Sturtz, and her sister Lydia Schmick predeceased her. She is survived by her niece, Sally (John) Arbuckle of Farmington Hills, Mich., her nephew, Raynold (Norma) Schmick, Dearborn, Mich., and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Molly was a graduate of the Saginaw General Hospital Nursing School. Prior to her retirement, Molly served for many years as a private duty registered nurse. Molly was a cheerful, upbeat person who always looked at the bright side. She gave generously to those in need. Although she never learned to drive, she had a sense of adventure and loved to travel. When her niece and nephew were teenagers, she took them on a five-week tour of the western United States by Greyhound bus. Molly was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church of Saginaw.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Dr. Mark J. Passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Luther Manor. Age 87 years. Mr. Wagner was born April 3, 1916 in Richland Twp. to the late Frederick and Emma (Fritz) Wagner. He married Annie D. Burns on June 12, 1942 in Saginaw. She predeceased him on September 1, 2000. Prior to his retirement in 1976, Wilbert was employed as a drill press operator at Combustion Engineering (formerly Wickes Boilers) for 40 years. He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He loved to play baseball, softball and bowling. Surviving are his two sons and their spouses, Gerald and Carolyn (Kay) Wagner, James and Cathy Wagner, all of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Christopher Wagner, Union City, MI; Erin Wagner, Grand Rapids, MI; Duane Wagner, Grand Rapids, MI; Todd Campau, Dallas, TX; Tammy Arredondo, Saginaw; Jennifer Wagner and Jim Hildebrant, Hemlock; 11 great-grandchildren, Landen Wagner, Logan Wagner, Lauryn Hildebrant, Melisa Wagner, Brandon Wagner, Nicole Corne, Corey Normandin, Julian Wagner, Sergio Wagner, Lauren Wagner, Justin Arredondo, and Arielle Arredondo. One great great granddaughter, Destiny Marie. Two sisters, Viola Marcoux, Saginaw; Edna Wildey, Saginaw; two sisters-in-law, Olive Wagner, Saginaw; Jean Wagner, Saginaw. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Janet Wagner; two grandsons, Jamie Wagner and Trevor Wagner; also three brothers, Leonard, Melvin and Ralph Wagner, and a sister-in-law, Alice Wagner.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss. The Rev. Michael R. Korte will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Passed away Friday, June 11, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center-Harrison. Age 42 years. Chuck was born November 30, 1961 in Saginaw, son of Wilma and Bruce (Darrel) Westphal. Brother to Debra (David) Blair of Fla.; Steven Westphal, Saginaw; Sherry (Paul) Charbonneau, Saginaw; Shelly (Steve) Fulton, Saginaw; Amy Westphal, Clio; grandson of Gladys Young, Saginaw; uncle to Ryan and Breeann Baz, Aaron and Shelby Charbonneau, Justin, Jordan, Jared and Jacob Fulton, great uncle to “his McKella” Wagle; nephew to several aunts and uncles; and cousins; special friends, Sabrina and Jeff Morris and family.

WIESE, WILLIAM J.,

Bill passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at Hoyt Nursing Home. Age 67 years. William James Wiese was born December 3, 1936 in Saginaw to the late Norman and Erma (George) Wiese. He married Barbara L. Hedrick on October 6, 1962 in Saginaw, where she survives him. Bill served in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement on March 1, 1993, he was employed in heat treating at Saginaw Steering Gear for 27 1/2 years. Bill was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He enjoyed attending Spirit hockey games and watching hockey at home. Surviving besides his wife, Barbara, are their two daughters, Brenda (Gary) Dutsky, Bay City; Lori Brown, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Jason Dutsky, Adam Brown and Nicholas Brown; several nieces, nephews and one cousin, Paul Troup. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Georgia McKinney.

YOUNG, KENNETH ALLEN,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Age 80 years. Born on August 8, 1924 in Toledo, OH. Passed away Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Aleda E. Lutz, V. A. Medical Center. He married Scottie Marie Callihan on July 17, 1948 in Toledo, OH. She survives him. Kenneth taught science at Central Junior (1948-1959) and taught Math, Typing, Business and Instructional Material Arts at Saginaw High (1959-1979). He had many sidelines, the first of which was a deep involvement in electronics. He was a First Class FCC Licensed Radio Technician, and in the radio business for 30 years, concurrent with teaching. As a licensed amateur radio operator (WA8LXX), Ken contacted many other operators in all other states. He became a real estate agent at Donald Johnson Real Estate, then at Anderson, Lemmer and Wilson. He later started Kay Real Estate. After selling the business, Ken and his wife, Scottie Marie, went “On The Road” for several years, traveling to 48 states and Canada. Ken served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and retired as 1st Lieutenant, Quartermaster Corps, Reserve. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #77, Elf Khurafeh Shrine, American Legion Post 22, Bay City Consistery, Saginaw Valley Amateur Radio Assoc., Life member of the NEA and MEA. Surviving besides his wife, Scottie Marie are two sons, Barry (Marsha) Young, Minneapolis, MN; Jan Young, Saginaw; one daughter, Bonnie (Luis) Rodriguez, Saginaw; grandchildren, Dennis, Tiffany, Christopher; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Barbara) Young, Piqua, OH.
In accordance with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 6, 2004 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Reverends Doug Leffler and Weatherly Verhels will officiate.
