Krafft, Walter

Passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 93 years. Walter Krafft was born on November 8, 1913 to the late Frederick and Katie (Nuechterlein) Krafft in Frankenmuth, MI. He married Ruth Tessin on May 2, 1942. She survives him. Walter worked as an Insurance Salesman for Great West Life for over 50 years. He was a past president of the Saginaw Insurance Underwriters. Walter served as the Congregational President, and served on the Board of Elders and the Board of Trustee’s at Peace Lutheran Church for many years. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and playing cards. Walter is survived by two sons, Randall (Bonnie) Krafft of Tampa, FL and Gary (Kye) Krafft of Mattawan, MI; three daughters, Betty (William) Ilten of Riverside, CA, Debbie (Jerry) Cushman of St. Charles, MI and Mary (Thomas) Erskine of Saginaw, MI; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Betty; a grandson, Chris Erskine; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral - Walter’s Funeral Services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Rev. C. William Weis will officiate with the burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation - Friends may call Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Monday, July 2, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Kruse, Charles A.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center Cooper. Age 54 years. Charles Arnold Kruse was born on March 22, 1950 in Saginaw to the late Arnold and Yolanda (Wielock) Kruse. He was retired from the City of Saginaw as a Project Engineer. Charles was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he was active in several organizations. Surviving are an uncle, George Kruse; several cousins, Walter, Wayne, Robert, Richard, George and John Kruse. Charles was preceded in death by a brother Robert Kruse.
Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. Robert Eggers will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Kurecka, Henry J.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away peacefully at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper in the presence of his family on September 15, 2006. Henry was born on August 8, 1914 in Freeland to the late Jacob Martin and Katherine Elizabeth (Urbancik) Kurecka. As a young man he was a Eagle Scout. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School as a member of the National Honor Society. He was a good athlete participating in speed skating and playing semi-pro baseball. When World War II began he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in April, 1942 and served as a flight engineer on a B-26 Martin Marauder that was stationed in England. Henry flew 59 combat missions in the European Theater. On his last mission his crew was shot down over the outskirts of Paris, France on May 27, 1944 while on a bombing mission in preparation of the D-Day Invasion. Although Henry suffered flak wounds to his legs, he was able to successfully parachute from his plane. Subsequently, he was captured by German forces and was held as a POW for eleven months. He was liberated by British military forces in April, 1945. As a result of his service, he was rewarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with nine Oakleaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War Medal and other medals.
Upon his return from the war he married his devoted wife, Margaret Doman on June 1, 1946 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw. She survives him. Henry was a devoted member of St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Henry was a very hard worker. He was employed for 49 years at General Motors, retiring as a patternmaker at the Chevrolet Metal Casting Plant. He enjoyed his family and watching sporting events.
Surviving besides his wife; Margaret are his children and spouses; Mary Kathryn (Thomas) Trombley, Reese, Kenneth (Janet) Kurecka, Saginaw, Donald (Karen) Kurecka, Rochester Hills; Thomas Kurecka; Saginaw; Michael (Pam) Kurecka; Saginaw. Henry is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Michelle (Jeff) Schluckbier, Matthew Trombley, Kristina (Michael) Tanner, Daniel (Katie) Trombley, Christopher Kurecka, James Kurecka, Andrew Kurecka, Patrick Kurecka, Rachel Kurecka, Colleen Kurecka, also three great granddaughters; Kara and Carly Schluckbier and Allison Trombley. Henry has one surviving sister, Val Greenwood of Saginaw. Henry was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters; Frank Kurecka, Mary Harrod, Jerrry Kurecka, Helen Griffin, Jacob Kurecka, Mildred Thomas, Amelia Sills and Slyvia Brennan; one grandchild Nicholas Kurecka and one great grandchild, Faith Christine Trombley.
Funeral - Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St. Fr. Robert Konopa OFM will officiate with rite of Committal. Military Honors will be afforded under the auspices of the VFW # 1566 and burial in St Andrew Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of mass. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

LaManna, Mildred Marion

Passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper. Age 83 years. Mildred M. Ruhl was born April 7, 1924 to the late Lloyd and Aleta (Ludden) Ruhl. She married Anthony LaManna on June 14, 1947. He survives her. Mildred was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She retired from Weichmann’s and was a member of the Tri City Miniature Makers. Mildred loved spending time with her family and enjoyed nature. Surviving besides her husband, Anthony; are her children Tom (Judy) LaManna of Saginaw, Martha Walton of Rochester, Minn, Gary (Jackie) LaManna of Mountain Home, Idaho, Mary Jo (Larry) Buffey of Burton, Mich., Greg (Wendy) LaManna of Plymouth, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister and two brothers; many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Frank and Josephine LaManna.
Memorial Service - According to Mildred’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Fr. Robert Konopa OFM will officiate.

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grammy and Sister passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Saginaw Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation. Age 93 years. Helen C. Jarzabkowski was born on May 10, 1914 in Saginaw to the late Casimer and Josephine (Kowalski) Jarzabkowski. She was married to Frank Lagalo on October 6, 1937 in Saginaw. He predeceased her January 15, 1988. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the League of Catholic women and St. Mary’s Cathedral Altar Society. Helen also volunteered with the March of Dimes. She enjoyed spending time with her family, BINGO, and playing cards. Surviving are a daughter Madeline (Timothy) Campbell of Saginaw; a son Daniel (Gloria) Lagalo of Florence, OR; three grandchildren Bethany (Chris) Charlton, Jane (Steve) Jordan both of Saginaw and Jeffrey (Robyn) Campbell of Henderson NV and six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Evan, Catherine, Nicholas and Ryan. Also surviving are two sisters, Ann Korkus of Frankenmuth and Josephine Frost of Seattle WA. Helen was preceded by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral - Helen’s Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. David L. Parsch will officiate. Private intermenty will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

LaGalo, Olga E.

Passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 at James E. Cartwright Care Center. Age 79 years. Olga E. Adamo was born November 28, 1919 in Naples, Italy. She married John G. LaGalo, Sr. August 8, 1945 in Rome, Italy moving to the United States in 1945 as a war bride. He preceded her in death March 18, 1986. Olga was a former member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Surviving is one son; John G. LaGalo, Jr. and his wife Lorie of Tecumseh, Mich., three grandchildren; Jason Elliott LaGalo (Jaime) of Ann Arbor, Mich., John Matthew Elliott LaGalo of Saginaw, Joseph Elliott LaGalo of Tecumseh, Mich., a dear friend Tina Updike of Saginaw, one brother; Guido Adamo of Italy. Olga was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial and commital service will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 1999 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at his home. Age 80 years. Edward was born November 10, 1927 in Saginaw to the late Fredrick and Amelia (Reisig) Laubhan. He married Rose Benkert on June 4, 1949. Edward was employed with the US Postal Service for 42 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Edward is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Timothy (Tami) Laubhan, Daniel (Kathy) Laubhan and Tina (Jack) Boening; grandchildren, April Pakenham, Jeffrey, Ryan and Kevin Laubhan, Allison and Sarah Boening; great granddaughter, Briana Pakenham; brothers, Rienhold (Vivian) Laubhan and Robert (Sharon) Laubhan; sister, Molly Fetting; sister-in-law, Olinda Laubhan. Edward was preceded in death by his brothers, Fredrick, David, Alex and Carl Laubhan; sister, Mary Lentner.
