McCarty, Maureen

Our beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt lost her battle against cancer on Saturday, July 28th 2007 at age 61. She was born March 19, 1946 in Saginaw. Mother of Mary Jo Brockman, Mark McCarty and Captain Sarah Ohm and her husband Daniel Ohm. Daughter of the late Dr. John McCarty and Agnes McCarty. Sister of Dennis McCarty and beloved sister-in-law to his wife Elaine McCarty. Maureen was the proud grandmother of Cheyenne Skye McCarty and a second grandchild due this fall. She leaves three nephews and one niece. Also surviving is her dear friend Patsy Kubczak. Maureen worked in the restaurant management business, particularly for Levi's and then for Bob Evans from where she retired in January. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral.
Maureen was a gentle and loving soul who is remembered most by her children for a smile that could illuminate a room and a heart that held no boundaries. She will be dearly missed but her family takes great comfort in knowing that she now rests pain free in the arms of our Lord. Honoring Maureen’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Funeral - In Maureen’s honor a Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at St. Mary Cathedral, 615 Hoyt. Rev. James Wm. Bessert, Rector, will officiate. Private intermenty will take place at a later date.
Visitation - Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

McQueen, Gladys E.

Passed away Thursday, November 18, 2004 at North West Medical Center of Margate, Florida. Age 70 years. Gladys E. Ellen was born on September 10, 1934 in Saginaw to the late John and Mary (Gonda) Ellen. She married Ronald N. McQueen on August 10, 1954 in Saginaw. He predeceased her on February 20, 1986. Surviving is a son Ronald A. (Merry) McQueen; a grandson Sean McQueen, a father-in-law Rev. A.W. McQueen, all of Margate, Florida; three brothers and four sisters; Bruce, Rich, Dave, Virginia, Milly, Eva and Betty. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Steve Bach will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Meran, William M.

William M. Meran, recent resident of Carrollton, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center in Leonardtown, Maryland. Age 87 years. William was born on November 17, 1920 in Donora, Pennsylvania to the late Frank and Bertha Meran. He married Jean Elizabeth Brock on November 4, 1944 in Saginaw, Michigan. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1994. William retired from Michigan Bell Telephone on February 15, 1983 after 40 years of service. He graduated from St. Andrew High School and was co-captain of the football team. He was an avid football fan. Fishing was his favorite pastime. William spent many hours on the water or ice fishing with his good friend Frank Portner. He cherished his long time friendships with Ken and Fran Prueter, Stan and Ruth Fillion, Bryce and Bea Henne, and Grayce Popp. Surviving are a son, William J. Meran and his wife, Diane of Concord, California; a daughter, Barbara Hak and her husband, Larry of Leonardtown, Maryland; four grandchildren, Brent Meran and his wife, Jennifer of Martinez, California, Brian Hak and his wife, Sandra Matus of Kensington, Maryland, Kari (Meran) White and her husband, Joseph of Fall City, Washington, and Bradley Hak and his wife, Kari of Rochester, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Makayla and Jayden White; and a sister, Alfreda Empey of Ladera Ranch, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, August Meran.
Funeral - William’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St. Rev. Richard E. Jozwiak will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at St. Helen Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass.

Michalski, Leo W.

Passed away Monday, August 28, 2006 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper Campus. Age 85 years. Leo W. Michalski was born September 17, 1920 to the late Priscilla and Vincent Michalski. He married Margaret Napolitano on October 4, 1947 in Saginaw. She survives him. Leo worked for Wicks Boiler/Combustion Engineering for 28 years. He served as the financial secretary of the Steel Workers Union. Leo was a Veteran of World War II serving with the Army Air Corp. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #593 in Bridgeport, where he also served as the financial secretary. In his spare time, Leo enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Besides his wife, Leo is survived by three children, Tony and Linda Michalski, Michael J. Michalski, Mary Judith Tijerina and her fiancé Dave Mitchell; four grandchildren, Jennifer Michalski, Josh and Michelle Michalski, Carla Esmiller, Carey and David Rosales; six great-grandchildren, Ramon, Isiah, Sierra, Gabriel, Jacob and Miles; two sisters, Leona and Louise.
Leo was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Sylvester and four sisters, Gladys, Stella, Florence and Delphine.
Funeral - Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2006 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Konopa, OFM will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A military service will be conducted under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.
Visitation - Friends may call at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State), on Thursday from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Miller, Elouise G.

Passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Saginaw Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation. Age 87 years. Elouise G. Stewart was born August 4, 1918 in Hebron, Nebraska the daughter of the late James W. and Louise D. (Vinkenberg) Stewart. She married Dr. Glen F. Miller on January 9, 1939; he predeceased her in 1977. Elouise was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two special cousins, Karen and Max Hinrichs, Margaret Reese, all of Nebraska; and special friends, Tom and Susan Bruce, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; Joe and Sandy Diebold, Kathy Diebold, and their families. Elouise was preceded in death by one brother, Roger G. Stewart in 1977 and her stepmother, Zena Sprick in 1961, who helped raise Roger and Elouise.
Funeral - Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 4, 2006 in Hastings, Nebraska. Interment will take place in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings, Nebraska. Local arrangements entrusted to The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State).

Passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at her home. Age 84 years. May G. Reed was born May 31, 1922 to the late Kenneth & Lerana (Spencer) Reed. She married Able Miller. He preceded her in death. May was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed shopping, country music, family reunions, get-togethers and spending time with her friends and family. Surviving are her seven children, Catherine (Ray) Mullins, Saginaw; Carol Schutt, Gaylord; Alice (Dave) Sabraw, Florida; Roger (Vicki) Favel; Sault Saint Marie; Julie (Steve) Davey, Texas; Gayle (Tina) Miller, Saginaw; Frank (Sally) Miller, Louisiana. May is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; her twin sister, June Jones; four other sisters, Marla, Noreen, Meg, Mary Lou; one brother, Bob and several nieces and nephews. May was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Oehring and three brothers, Lawrence, Ed and Kenneth.
Following May's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Modrall, William D.

Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Monday, December 10, 2007. Age 78 years. William Donald Modrall was born November 27, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Louise and Virginia Dell (Brown) Modrall. He married Luella M. Cruson on July 7, 1951. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2007. William was employed by Baker-Perkins for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the American Legion Post #439. Surviving are his three children, Linda Dammann, Don and Kendra Modrall, Laura and Ken Kowalski; four grandchildren, Matt and Bridgette Dammann, Mark Dammann and his finance Kaycee Coscarelli, and Mackenzie and Max Modrall; and one great-grandson, Harrison Dammann. William was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jerry Dammann and a brother, John Modrall.
Funeral - William’s Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Military services will take place in Oakwood Cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion Post #439.
