Rohn, Robert F.
Saginaw Twp., Michigan
Passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center – Cooper. Age 85 years. Robert F. Rohn was born December 28, 1920 in Saginaw to the late George and Ida (Kuhlman) Rohn. He was married to Jane S. Sadenwater on July 27, 1941 in Saginaw. She preceded him in death on May 15, 2006. Robert worked for Saginaw Steering Gear and retired from there after many years of service. Robert was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed attending church, spending time at his summer home in Lake City, entertaining friends and family, golfing, playing cards, and he was an avid sports fan. Robert is survived by two sons and one daughter, James Rohn of Saginaw, Gerald (Sharon) Rohn of Freeland, and Judy Ruppel and her special companion, Robert Kotcher, of Saginaw; five grandchildren, Heidi (Neal) McComas, Cory (Solveig) Ruppel, Amy (Dale) Bray, Tricia (Perry) Dare, Danielle (Adam) Crist; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madeleine and Jane Ruppel, Blake and Cody McComas, Alex, Joshua and Spencer Bray, Genevieve and Olivia Dare; his sister-in-law, Charlotte Nimeth of Lake City, MI; nieces, nephews and several friends. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Betty) Rohn.
Funeral - Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2006 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway. Pastor Mark Buckert will officiate with entombment to follow at Oakwood Mausoleum.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Rondo, Agnes E.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away Friday, July 20, 2007 at Saginaw Pines Nursing and Rehab. Age 95 years. Agnes Welsh was born on December 12, 1911 in Saginaw, to the late John and Justina (Gauthier) Welsh. She married Nelson E. Rondo on October 27, 1934; he predeceased her on January 4, 1966. Agnes was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member of the Secular Franciscan Fraternity, the Legion of Mary, and the League of Catholic Woman. She was a former member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and Alter Society. Agnes is survived by three sons and one daughter, Robert (Joan) Rondo of Hemlock, MI; Richard (Linda) Rondo of Pinconning, MI; Thomas (Pauline) Rondo of Birch Run, MI; and Mary (James) Gibson of St. Charles, MI., twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Agnes is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson; three sisters, Ellen Ensminger, Fern Freier and Bernice Morin; a brother, John Welsh, and a granddaughter, Agnes Ann Rondo.
Funeral - Agnes’ Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Rd. Rev. Ronald F. Wagner will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, July 22, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil honoring Agnes will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home on Sunday. Agnes will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Prior to the Mass, a Rosary Service will be held at 10:15 a.m.

Rondo, Ralph F. Sr.,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Passed away Thursday, February 4, 1999 at his home after a lengthy illness. Age 81 years. Ralph Frederick Rondo was born August 1, 1917. He married Phyllis McCormick February 5, 1949 in Angola, Indiana. She survives him. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre. Ralph worked at General Motors, as a machine operator for 32 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #22. Surviving besides his wife are three children and their spouses, Ralph Jr. (Butch) and Sharon Rondo, Tuscola; Wayne and Jan Rondo, Rhodes; Tina and Derk Everts, Burton; six grandchildren, Carrie, Dawn, Brian, Justin, Joshua and Jacquelyn; four great-grandchildren; a brother George Rondo and his wife Marguerite (Babe), Saginaw; a sister Theresa Abritis, Saginaw; a sister-in-law Agnes Rondo, Saginaw; a special sister- in-law Joan Walters, Saginaw; many nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by a brother Nelson and three sisters Frances, Edwina and Lena. Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at the W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. JoAnn Nacarato will officiate with military burial under the auspices of American Legion Post #22 in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral chapel from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday and on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the VNA Hospice: Partners in Caring.

Ruble, Billy Joe
Saginaw, Michigan
Our devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on Wednesday evening, March 23, 2005 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence Center. Age 78 years.
Billy Joe Ruble was born on September 27, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Walter and Ruth (Holt) Ruble. He married Eileen Emery on November 29, 1947 in Saginaw. She predeceased him November 21, 2001. He retired from the City of Saginaw Water Treatment Plant. Bill was an avid golfer and member of the VFW Post #1566 and SEIU Union Local #466. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Kathleen and Daniel Menter of Saginaw, Richard and Kim Ruble of Canton, Michigan, and William and Cindy Ruble of Midland; four grandchildren, Kayla, Jamie and Sean Ruble and Ryan Kappler. Bill was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday March 28, 2005 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Rev. Walter David will officiate with military entombment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of VFW Post #1566. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and then again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will be no visitation at the funeral home on Easter Sunday. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of their choice.

Salbenblatt, Ronald R.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed to the next life on June 4, 2007 after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, born on February 27, 1924 to William and Martha (Zdzynski) Salbenblatt. As a boy, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Later, he became an original member of Saint Stephen Catholic Church, when the parish met at the Court Street Theater. He served in the army during World War II, after which, he attended the University of Michigan, graduating in 1950 with a BA in Business Administration. He wed the former Frances Gochis of Ann Arbor in 1950, and they were married for 48 years until she preceded him in death in 1989. Together they had five children, who survive him – Susan, Nancy, Thomas, Mary, and Martha (Marty). Ron worked for Dow Chemical in the 1950s and later for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed motorcycle riding with his wife, Fran, camping with his family, woodworking, and antique restoration. During his retirement, Ron and Fran worked summers for the National Parks, including two years at Grand Tetons and one year at Denali. Ron enjoyed travel and visited the most northern point of the US (Point Barrow). Years later, he visited the southernmost point of the US (Hawaii) with his very good friend Ursula (Sue) Armstrong. Ron and Ursula also did volunteer work at Pit and Balcony Theater and Habitat for Humanity.
He leaves behind his children Susan (Michael) Quagliata, Nancy (Mark) Smalley, Thomas (Dennis) Patrick, Mary (Chester) Goik, and Marty (Bruce) Dubay. He is survived by his grandchildren: Mario and Joseph Quagliata; John and Sarah Smalley; Joshua, Paul, Joseph, and Raul Patrick; Zachary and Samuel Goik; Kyle and Erik Dubay. Also surviving him is his very good friend, Ursula (Sue) Armstrong.
Funeral - Ron’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1320 Malzahn St. Rev. James G. Heller will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Ron will lie in state at the church on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Sanchez, Daniel Sr.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. Age 56 years. Daniel Sanchez was born October 29, 1949 in Saginaw to the late Jesus and Amelia (Camacho) Sanchez. He married Janie Chacon on February 14, 1992 in Saginaw. She survives him. Daniel had been employed with Malleable Iron retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and graduated from their school in 1967. Daniel was a dedicated service man having served with the United States Army in Vietnam and awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post 500. He was a true blue Michigan Fan, he enjoyed playing cards, many trips to the casino and he loved his children, grandchildren and friends. In addition to his wife Daniel is survived by three children, Daniel Sanchez Jr., Delfina Sanchez, and Alejandro (Juanita) Sanchez all of Lansing; three step-children, Beaver (Christy) Rodriquez, Ruby Rodriquez and her special friend Lou, and Angel Rodriquez all of Saginaw; 13 grandchildren, Marcus, Willie, Ysati, Alexiah, Anthony, Baby Ali Jr., Rosie, Ronnie, Nadia, Bino, Thalia, Fat Man and Maya; father-in-law and mother-in-law, “The Lermas” Feliciano and Romana Chacon of Saginaw; five brothers, Jesse (Thelma) Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez, Joseph (Melissa) Sanchez, Raymond (Sandy) Sanchez, and David (Mickey) Sanchez; two sisters, Delores (Carl) Fehring and Gloria (Robert) Gonzalez; sister-in-law, Elena Sanchez; also special family friends Ray Cerda, (who was like a son) Mary, Nora, Leonard, and Jr; 3 Goddaughters Linda, Melissa, and Erika, and one Godson Sonny, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Sanchez, Louis Sanchez I and Louis Sanchez II; granddaughter, Angel Sanchez.
Funeral - Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. Sixth St. Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by American Legion Post 439.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Daniel will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A vigil for Daniel will be on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Schmidt, Madison Michelle “Maddie”
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away due to complications from her bone marrow transplant on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. Age 11 years. Madison was born on March 21, 1996 in Saginaw to Justin and Dana (Romes) Schmidt. Maddie attended Westdale Elementary and was currently attending White Pine Middle School. She was very active in many scholastic activities. Maddie enjoyed music, singing, hunting, fishing and sports. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Surviving are her parents Justin and Dana Schmidt; two brothers, Mason and Maxx Schmidt; grandparents, Craig and Betty Romes; Henry and Mary Mattheis and Wayne and Jan Schmidt; great-grandfather, O.J. Schmidt; aunts and uncles, AmyLynn Ludwig, Jeremy and Kelly Romes, Eric Schmidt, Tarah Schmidt, Henry and Chris Mattheis III, Martin Mattheis, Adam and Ashley Mattheis; special Godparents Wayne and Yvonne Marcoux and Eric and Laura Pinkoski; four cousins, Diana and Zachary Ludwig and Whitney and Austin Schmidt. Also surviving are many extended family.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Saturday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service.
Funeral - Madison’s Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot. Rev. Kathryn S. Snedecker will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
