Schultz, Norma, M.
Saginaw Township, Michigan
Passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006. Norma M. MacDonald was born on September 19, 1912 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William H. and Clara MacDonald. She married Walter H. Weber on September 20, 1939. He predeceased her. She married Lester R. Schultz on July 12, 1975. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1997. Prior to his death they lived in Bay City for 22 years. Norma moved to Saginaw in 1998. She was a 1930 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Before her retirement Norma was employed at Eaton Corporation, for ten years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the National Secretary’s Association, and People to People. Norma leaves the following survivors: a daughter, Sally A. Weber of Saginaw, a son, William H. (Colleen) Weber of Saginaw; two stepsons and two stepdaughters, Duane R. (Suzzanne) Schultz of Miami, Florida; James W. (Virginia) Schultz of Clarkston, Mich.; Susan Schultz of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and Janet (James) Hasty of West Branch, Mich. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Lisa Ruthig, Jeffrey Weber, Travis Weber, Evan Schultz, Sarah Schultz, Andrew Hasty, and Erin Hasty; four great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Alexis Ruthig and Emily and Christian Schultz. Norma was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tamara Terry, a great-grandson, Nicolas and one sister, Kathryn Will. Norma’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Edgewood.
Funeral - Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot. Rev. Kathryn S. Snedeker will officiate. Private intermenty will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
Memorials - Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to First United Methodist Church or the charity of their choice.

Shovan, Archie L.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 84 years. Archie was born on August 14, 1922 in Saginaw to the late Lambert D. and Julia A. (McCullagh) Shovan. He married Jo Ann G. Schian on September 10, 1949. She predeceased him on May 1, 1996. Archie was employed at Dow Corning as a Production Superintendent for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a charter member of St. Helen Catholic Church and served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen S. and W. Gerry Miller III, Jacksonville, Fla.; Julie S. Dorcey, Saginaw; one son, Michael J. Shovan, Saginaw; two grandchildren, William G. Miller IV, Sara J. Miller and one special aunt, Marian C. Oeder. Archie was preceded in death by a brother, John J. Shovan. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the compassionate care given by the nursing staff at St. Mary’s and the Saginaw Geriatrics Home.
Funeral - Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State). Marge Fobear will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Andrew Mausoleum.
Visitation - Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at Noon.
Memorials - In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Easter Seals-Michigan.

Smith, John Joseph
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 49 years.
John J. Smith was born on September 29, 1958 in Saginaw to the late John and Margaret (Griffor) Smith. He married Kathleen Specht on January 2, 1987, she survives him. He had been a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for the past 30 years. John enjoyed automobile racing, trips to the casino, and country music. Surviving are his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Lisa; a son, Travis; two grandchildren, Avery and Kenadie; three sisters, Jean (Jim) Fox, Darlene Keyes, and Diane Smith. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral - John’s Funeral Service will be take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at the Deisler Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Bodner will officiate.
Visitation - Friends may call the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday December 2, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Steltzriede, Genevieve (Parent)
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, age 94 years. Genevieve Parent was born on April 14, 1913, daughter of the late Alexander and Louise (Guerin) Parent of Carrollton. She married Harold Steltzriede on September 20, 1941; he preceded her in death on August 12, 1990. Genevieve was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School. She was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Saint Anne Altar Society, and a lifetime member of the League of Catholic Women, and the League of Senior Citizens. Genevieve was employed by Carrollton Public Schools as a secretary, retiring in 1975. Surviving is her beloved daughter, Brenda and her husband Ronald Bow of Bay City, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Helen Parent; and many nieces, nephews and good friends especially Kathryn Wilkinson and Jan Nowacki. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Lillian; and three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Bruce. The family would like to express its thanks to the staff and management of Saginaw Pines Nursing & Rehab for the loving care they have shown. “May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace”.
Funeral - Genevieve’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 545 Mapleridge, Carrollton. Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Dombrowski will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, December 14, 2007 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007.

Stockholm, Anne
Hemlock, Michigan
Passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at Covenant HealthCare. Age 81 years. Anne Sharpe was born on January 3, 1927 in Germantown, Pennsylvania to the late Leo Nelson and Blanche (Myers) Sharpe. Anne attended Germantown Friends School and then Centenary Jr. College in Hacketstown, N.J., graduating in 1946. She married Holger T. Stockholm, Jr. on December 27, 1950; he preceded her in death on July 11, 1993. Anne and her husband, Stocky, enjoyed and loved their many dogs over the years. They spent many summer vacations camping and trout fishing in Northern Ontario. They were true nature lovers. Anne is survived by one brother, Craig Sharpe of Wynnewood, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by an older brother, Nelson and a sister, Jane.
Funeral - Following Anne’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Remembrance Gathering will be held at Rauchholz Memorial Library in Hemlock, on January 17, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State).

Stoddart, Katherine H.
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away Sunday March 20, 2005 at Tendercare of Saginaw. Age 82 years. Katherine A. Hall was born October 2, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Gerald and Rhoda (McDowell) Hall. Katherine was married to Richard E. Stoddart on August 29, 1941 in Detroit. He predeceased her on April 4, 2002. Katherine was very proud of her Irish heritage and she was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Sally and Robert Carigan of Saginaw and Patricia and James Herrick of Lino Lakes, Minnesota. Also surviving is one grandson and his wife, Christopher and Anna Carigan of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Stoddart.
Honoring Katherine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No visitation or services are planned at this time. Katherine’s family would like to express its thanks to Randy and the staff at Tendercare of Saginaw.

Streeter, Doris Mae (Loomas)
Saginaw, Michigan
Her soul went to be with the Lord when her body died on Friday, August 25, 2006 at Brian’s House Hospice Home in Bay City. Doris Mae Loomas was born on April 13, 1923 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Bert and Ethel (Carson) Loomas. She was raised in Flint and attended public schools there, graduating from Flint Central High School. She worked for Michigan Bell telephone as a service observer. After the war she married her school days sweetheart, Allen Raymond Streeter, in 1945. He survives her. In 1964 the family moved to Saginaw when he was transferred to Saginaw Steering Gear. In 2004 they moved to Swanhaven Manor, a retirement community in Thomas Township. Her special interests in addition to her family and church were children, watercolor painting, and poetry. She had published her autobiography, “From Curtain Stretchers to Computers” and her poetry in “A Sampler of Life.” Doris earlier served as choir director, elder and deacon and Stephen Minister at First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists and River Junction Poets. She was a Girl Scout leader while in Flint. In Saginaw she volunteered for READ Program and at Community Village for 20 years. In addition to her husband, Allen their three children: Kenneth (Karen) Streeter, Marcia Streeter and Janice (Frank) Talkington survive her. Other survivors are grandchildren: Daniel (Barbara) Streeter, Rebecca (Steven) Miller, Paul (Wendy) Streeter, Jennifer (Earl) Waite and Andrew Bejcek; also great-grandchildren: Britanny and Amanda Streeter; Steven, Brieana and Bethany Miller, Paul Streeter Jr. and Isabella Waite.
Funeral - Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum.
Visitation - Friends may call at The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter (off State) on Monday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and at the church ion Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials - Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial gifts to First Presbyterian Church, Saginaw Rescue Mission or to the Charity of Donor’s Choice.
