Passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 94 years. Arlene M. Watson was born February 25, 1913 to the late Charles and Elnora (Stafford) Watson. She was married to Maynard Wolkensdorfer on June 23, 1934. He preceded her is death in 1984. Arlene worked for the Park and Shop Grocery for several years. She loved to play bingo and slot machines. She is survived by her daughters: Sue (Donald) Stroebel and Judy Harper, all of Saginaw; grandchildren: Arthur, Gregory, David and Thomas Stroebel, Heidi Lapinski and Brian Harper; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Clova Hodgman of Clio; sister-in-law, Beatrice Henne of Saginaw. Arlene was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Harper. According to Arlene’s wishes cremation has taken place.
Funeral - A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate.
Visitation - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service.

Passed away Friday, January 29, 1999, at his home. Age 90 years. He was born March 11, 1908 in San Antonio, Texas, moving to Michigan in 1943, and then to Saginaw in 1960. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia Flores, on May 20, 1994, and by his daughter, Chave (Elizabeth) Saldana, on October 5, 1996. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Carmen and Tony Rodriguez, Saginaw; Elva Valdez, Joe and Bennie Valdez, Albert Jr. and Juanita Valdez, and Luis Valdez, all of Texas. Also surviving are 35 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the W.L. Case & Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday and 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday where they may meet at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday for a wake service. Leone M. Hammond, 94, of Midland and former Vassar resident died Thursday, October 22, 1998, at WovenHearts Assisted Care. She was born on September 22, 1904 in Saginaw, daughter of the late George and Sarah Leone (Munro) Mulholland. Mrs. Hammond was a resident of Vassar for 67 years and was married to Dwight E. Hammond on August 25, 1927 in Saginaw. He predeceased her October 30, 1967. Her many accomplishments include 60-year member of First United Methodist Church in Vassar, first Girl Scout Leader in Vassar, past president of the Vassar Womens' Club, helped organize the Junior Womens' Club, reporter for the Vassar Pioneer Times and The Flint Journal in the 1940's, life member and past Worthy Matron of the Millington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hammond was honored as a 25- year board member of Bullard- Sanford Public Library and was very active in community and church activities. She was currently a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Midland and enjoyed spending time and making friends with young children. Surviving are her two sons and their spouses, Donal D. and Sally Hammond of Midland; George T. and Mary Ann Hammond of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Tom and Nakredy Hammond of San Diego, California; Kay and Tom Maier of Sanford; David and Frances Hammond of Lexington, Kentucky; Mary and Wayne Laffey of Midland; William Hammond, Leslie and Louis Castro, all of West Chester, Pennsylvania; Sarah Hammond of Downingtown; great- grandchildren, Barrett, Justin, Kathryn Hammond, Danny and Halee Messinger, Chris and Elliot Laffey, Donny Hammond, Xavier Davis; one brother, Daniel (Esther) Mulholland of California and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Hammond was predeceased by her brother, Keith Mulholland and her sister, Norma Zehnder. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 26, 1998 from Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2206 Airfield Lane, Midland. Dr. David A. Stout will officiate with burial at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, January 31, 1999, at her home with her family by her side.
Age 78 years. The daughter of the late John and Marie McCallum, Gertrude was born February 15, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. She was married to Donald A. DeGroat who survives her. Gertrude was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She was involved with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts with her sons. Gertrude loved camping, fishing and, most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband, special friend and companion, Don, are two daughters and two sons, Judy Hoerner, Saginaw Township; Joan Mosher, Maryland; John DeGroat, Reese; James DeGroat, Saginaw; six grandsons and one granddaughter, John and Rosi Hoerner, Jeffrey and Lynn Hoerner, Jason Hoerner and his fiancee Michelle Dufresne and daughter Miranda, Michael and Michelle Mosher, Donald DeGroat and his fiancee Jennifer Foss, Andrew DeGroat and Jeffrey Parcham; Gertrude's great-grandchildren, Jacquelina and Louis Hoerner and Jacob Hoerner; three brothers and three sisters, Irene and Robert Cooley, Allen McCallum, Harold and Evelyn McCallum, Florence Cooley, Merrill and John Loeffler, John and Carol McCallum; a sister-in-law, Dorothy McCollum; her step- mother, Frances Wujek; an aunt, Elizabeth (Wilma) McCallum; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special friends including Ethel Lane and Gordon Drennon. Passed away late Saturday, January 30, 1999 at the James E. Cartwright Care Center. Age 72 years. He was born June 24, 1926 in Marion Township. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He engaged in farming most of his life. He had also served as a deputy with the Saginaw County Sheriff Department and its auxiliary for several years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Iva. He marries Shirley J. Schlarf June 1, 1946; she survives him. He also leaves one son, Thomas J. Gath, St. Charles; one daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Keith Card, St. Charles; three grandsons, Harry T. and Eric Gath and Mark Card; three great-grandsons, Joey, Tommy and Eric Gath; one sister, Edna Penny, St. Charles; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Mary C. Gath; three brothers, Edwin, Frank and Walter Gath; two sisters, Hattie Kienitz and Rosa Bucholz.
