Philip R. Herweyer, 41, of Traverse City, died Tuesday afternoon February 2, 1999 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Born January 31, 1958, in Saginaw, he was the son of Raymond and Gertrude (Doehring) Herweyer. He married Mary L. Kozma on July 15, 1978 in Beulah. A longtime resident of Traverse City, he was employed by 4M Communications in Traverse City. He was a 1976 graduate of Frankfort High School, where he played several varsity sports. He attended Alpena Community College. Philip was very supportive of the Traverse City High School Music Program, enjoyed boating in the northern Michigan area and enjoyed sports. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Traverse City; one daughter, Carly M. Herweyer of Traverse City; his mother, Gertrude Herweyer of Saginaw; his grandmother, Nellie Doehring of Saginaw; three sisters, Judith A. (Michael) Nagy of Saginaw; Rose Mary (Joseph) Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Rose Elaine Herweyer of Saginaw; one brother, Robert Herweyer of Sanford, Mich.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond in 1979. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Reynolds- Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to the family or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Passed away Tuesday, February 2, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper. Age 80 years. He was born June 23, 1918 in Saginaw, the son of the late Verne and Mena (Hansen) Chapman. He was graduated from Saginaw High School in 1937. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear as a Senior Process Engineer, retiring in 1980. Mr. Chapman was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He married B. Jane Campau with whom he had a son and a daughter, John H. Chapman II, Saginaw; and Mary Jo Ginsbach and her husband, Ron, Spearfish, S. D. He later married Luella (Klopf) Page who predeceased him in 1978. Surviving besides his children are six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Merle Frank Chapman, California; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a dear friend, Betty Diehl. Funeral service will take place 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 1999 at First Presbyterian Church, Court and Harrison Sts. Passed away Wednesday, February 3, 1999, at her residence at the age of 86 after a short illness. Leola was born November 29, 1912 in Mayville, Michigan. Leola was the daughter of Sanford and Edith (Maiers) Wall. On June 20, 1936 she married Edgar F. Erb and together they celebrated 62 years together, sharing many interests. Leola was a Vassar resident since 1937. Leola taught at the Tripp School for five years, between 1931 and 1936. Together with her husband she owned and operated Erb's Food Shop from 1937 until 1955. Leola was an active member of Vassar Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and active on the Mission Committee. She was a friend to young and old. Leola was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideon's International. Leola leaves to cherish her memory her family and husband, Edgar; children, David and wife Marty of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Diane and husband Gerald Pedersen of Western Springs, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jon, Sara, Molly, DeLynn, Scott, Marcy; three great-grandchildren, Kellen, Mykaela, Kyle; five nieces and nephews; one sister, Vera Temple of Vassar and one sister- in-law, Eulah Mason of Grand Blanc. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a great- grandson. Funeral services for Leola will be Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Vassar Baptist Church with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. Pastor Douglas Stockwell will officiate the services. Friends may call at the Hanlin Chapel for Funerals in Vassar on Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Leola will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
