Loving mother, grandmother and friend went to be with her Lord, Friday, February 5, 1999, at Saint Mary's hospital. Age 85 years. Hortense VanDerstration was born September 18, 1913 in Saginaw. She married John Barnovitz Sr., February 3, 1934, he passed away February 14, 1983. She had been employed by General Motors, Malleable Iron and by Hess' Duck Farm in Hemlock. She was a former member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Hemlock and member of Hope Lutheran Church, St. Charles. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching boxing. Surviving are three daughters, two sons and their spouses, John Barnovitz Jr. and his wife Carol, Hemlock; Helen and Bruce DeCaire, AuGres; Margaret and Gregory Kersheske, Gary Barnovitz and his friend, Linda; Sharon and Don Murray, all of Saginaw; 14 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Ruth Milbrandt, a sister-in-law, Jane Barnovitz, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. A son, Joseph, a grandson, Jason Murray, and two sisters have predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Rd. Hemlock. Rev. Dan Schoeffel will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday and then at the church from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service. Passed away Friday, February 5, 1999 at his home. Age 84 years. He was born September 16, 1915 in Pine Run, Michigan. He married Florence Furlong, in 1940, she predeceased him. He was employed by General Motors, Chevrolet Plant in Flint retiring after 25 years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Jack Leaym, Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Lisa Rohde, Lynn Tyler, Lance Collins, Paul Collins and Laura Propp; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Hall, Bridgeport; Elsie Horn, Clio; several nieces and nephews. A grandson and two sisters have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Case Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy. Rev. Asa T. Compton will officiate with burial in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the chapel from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

Passed away Friday, January 29, 1999 at Brookdale Hospital. Age 72 years. Amos was born September 28, 1926 in West Virginia to Annie K. and Thomas Hayes Doss. Mr. Doss was a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army from which he retired in 1966. He was employed by General Motors as a security officer, retiring in 1979 from Saginaw Steering Gear. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Joan Doss of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four daughters, Jeanette (Eli) Dudley, Sharon Doss, Monica Blackman, Theresa Doss, all of Saginaw; three sons, Thomas (Shirley), Harold (Helen) and Terrill (Mary) Doss, all of Saginaw; one stepson, Michael (Robin) Tucker of Connecticut; one brother, Daniel Doss of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Lucy (Tom) Smith; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Doss in 1981, two granddaughters, Claretta (Bonnie) Doss and Miricle Doss, and his mother- in-law, Willie Thompson (Tot). Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue. Rev. Ronald E. Chipp will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Passed away after a lengthy illness, at Covenant Medical Center- Cooper, on Thursday, February 4, 1999. Age 40 years. William John Lake was born in Saginaw on October 11, 1958 to Elmore Hooker and Josephine Lake. He was a lifetime Saginaw resident. He married Celestine Payne on October 20, 1989. He had been employed by Professional Assembly Corporation. Surviving are his beloved wife, Celestine Lake and a son, William Brandon Payne at home; his parents, Elmore (Dorothy) Hooker, Saginaw; and Josephine Neal, Saginaw; three brothers, Larry Owens, Ivory (Betty) Owens and James Owens, all of Chicago; 10 sisters, Gloria Jelks of Saginaw; Joella Lipscomb, Maserlona (Jimmy) Owens, Bertha (A.C.) Haymon, Janie Sue (Willie) Parker, all of Chicago; Shirley Randolph Hooker, Linda (Preston) Johnson, Junell (Morris) Webb, Betty (Lee) Greer, all of Saginaw; and Anita Lake of Lansing. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Josephine Payne of Saginaw; four sisters-in-law, Bearlean (Gregory) Washington, Eunice (Greg) Charleston, Nora (Michael) Parker and Carolyn Carruth. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 1999, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 7475 E. Holland, Saginaw. Passed away Thursday, February 4, 1999, in Livonia. Age 77 years. She was born January 29, 1922 in Saginaw. She married Sebastian (Bud) Musico February 14, 1943; he predeceased her in 1977. In her early years she modeled for Fredrica Furs in New York City and later was employed by John Egloff Real Estate in Saginaw. Surviving are one daughter, Susan Musico, Farmington Hills; one son, Bruce Musico, Toronto, Canada; two grandsons, Bruce Musico Jr. and Chris Musico and one great-granddaughter, Miranda Musico; three brothers, Jack Alexander, Saginaw; Richard Alexander, California; Bernard Alexander, Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel, Saginaw.

Passed away Saturday, February 6, 1999 at McLaren Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Age 76 years. Mary E. Schneller was born July 8, 1922 in Saginaw. She had worked for the United States Postal Service for nineteen years, retiring in 1985, and was a member of the Postal Carriers Union. She was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Surviving are a daughter Anita Hoyt, Flushing; her mother Theresa Schneller, Saginaw; a brother Joseph Schneller and his wife Cecile, Saginaw; a sister Helen Schneller, Chesaning; two nephews John and Edward Schneller. Mary was predeceased by her father John Schneller, a sister Eva Langneker and a brother Julius Schneller. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at the SS. Passed away Friday, February 5, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper. Age 61 years. The son of Wesley and Mabel (Hager) Lynn was born August 23, 1937 in Fornfelt, Mo. He married Karen Leslie Klemm 22 years ago. He was a manager with Wieland Truck Sales and had been a Detective with the Cape Girardeau Police Force for seven years; also worked at Cape GMC Pontiac. Mr. Lynn was a Gunnery Sergeant with the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a licensed NRA Instructor, graduated University High, attended South East Missouri University. Mr. Lynn was also a member of the Masons. Surviving besides his wife Karen of Saginaw are one son and one daughter, Dallas Wesley Lynn and Tara Leslie Lynn, both at home. Mr. Lynn was first married to Fern Brewington who died in May, 1975. They had one daughter, Suzette M. Hutfilz who survives. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Victoria Hutfilz and Corinne Hutfilz, both of Freeland, Mich.; one brother, Jay Lynn, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Ruby Chitty, Scott City, Mo.; Elsie Caldwell, Dutchtown, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, Earl and Charles Lynn and one sister, Betty Englemann. Funeral service will take place at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel in Cape Girardeau with burial to follow at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery. There will be a reception for family and friends at St. Mark Lutheran Church located on Miller Rd., Saginaw at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 1999.
