Died Thursday, February 11, 1999 at Saint Mary's hospital. Age 81 years. Margaret Spengler was born January 1, 1918 in Beaver Twp. to the late George and Minnie (Pacholke) Spengler. She was married to Harold on January 28, 1939. She and Harold enjoyed 56 years together before his death on September 6, 1995. Margaret had been employed by Zehnder's of Frankenmuth for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening and traveling. She also enjoyed her grandchildren. Surviving are one son and four daughters, Sharon and Russell VanPatten, Melvin and Elizabeth Riess, Marilyn Patrick, Audrey and Manny Bottine, Judy and Ronald Bickel; eight grandchildren, Darren, Brian, Stacy, Wendy, Kristal, Rebecca, Meredith and Maria; one great- granddaughter, Sasha; three sisters and one brother, Clara Jammer, Erna Walter, Marie Mosher and Nelson Spengler; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Wilma, Doris and Earl Spengler and Esther Krueter. Prayer service will take place 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 1999 at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 525 W. Tuscola and Memorial Service will take place 1:00 p.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Rev. Michael Fitzgerald will officiate with burial in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Passed away February 8, 1999, in El Cajon, Calif. Age 52 years. Ken was born in Saginaw on August 11, 1946. He graduated from Arthur Hill Tech. Before moving to California he was employed at State Lanes and The Bowling Bar in Saginaw. He was preceded in death by his father John and two grandchildren. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Anne and George Larson of Saginaw; his wife Annette of El Cajon, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Dana (James) Timmons of Phoenix, Ariz. and Patricia Devine of Las Vegas, Nev. and three grandchildren. He also leaves sisters, Mary (Bob) Sauve and Theresa Lazzaro of Saginaw; brothers, Dennis of La Mesa, Calif.; John and Michael (Connie) of Saginaw; Dominic of Penn Grove, Calif. and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will take place Saturday, February 13, 1999 in El Cajon, Calif.

Daughter of Eugene and Margaret Gardner passed away on Thursday, February 11, 1999, at home.
Age 85 years. She was born on August 28, 1913 in Alma, Michigan. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended St. Mary's Notre Dame University. She married Joseph (Bud) Fordney on June 17, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1964. Ann worked for the American Red Cross as its Youth Director. She was a member and past President of St. Mary's Hospital Children's Free Ward Board. Ann was honored by St. Mary's High School in 1976 as a distinguished alumnus. She was a "Gold Rose" recipient of the Junior League of Saginaw. She was an avid bridge player, a committed community volunteer and a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Eugene Gardner in 1989. Surviving are her two sons, Joseph Michael Fordney and John and Sandra (Steve) Fordney; seven grandchildren, Joseph Warren and Lori (Lyles) Fordney, Sara Dodd Fordney, Sam Bennett Fordney, Michael McDonald Fordney, John Gardner Fordney II, James and Kathleen (Sullivan) Fordney and Scott and Jennifer (Fordney) McGregor. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 1999 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Patrick M. Jankowiak will officiate. Ann's family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass. Ruscin was born July 13, 1910 in Pennsylvania, living in Saginaw most of her life. She was married to Frank Hrinik on August 30, 1930 in Pennsylvania. He predeceased her on June 24, 1956. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Passed away February 12, 1999, at her home with her loving husband and children at her side. Age 74 years. The daughter of John and Florence Obuchowski was born March 10, 1924 in Saginaw. She married Donald Sanderson November 28, 1942. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage. He survives her. She was a member of Birch Run United Methodist Church. Lucille enjoyed her life with Don, her children and grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, two daughters and their spouses, Gary and Waneta Sanderson, Saginaw; Carol and Fred Muzer, Fenton; Patricia and Jack Matzke, Birch Run; Donald Sanderson Jr. and his wife Karen, Linden; 13 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Lloyd Coffin, Letty Grossman, Freida Finkbeinder, Bruce Obuchowski; several nieces and nephews and her faithful dog Buddy. Passed away Friday, February 12, 1999. Age 54 years. Sally Ann Shaffer was born December 22, 1944, in Rock Island, Illinois. She attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Kowalski and his wife Janet, James A. Bierlein and his fiancee Sherri Trace, and Bryan Bierlein all of Saginaw; three grandchildren and one great-grandson; her sister Linda Vanderpool; her mother and stepfather Gertrude and Rhinehold Gadel, and many loving family members and friends. Sally was predeceased by her father Melvin Shaffer in 1971. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 1999, at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home on Midland Road. Rev. Richard Wolfram will officiate with intermenty to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
