Passed away Friday, February 12, 1999 at Saint Mary's hospital. Age 72 years. He was born August 15, 1926 in Noxapater, Miss., son of the late West and Lula Brown. Mr. Brown retired from the Saginaw Malleable Iron Plant in 1970. He was also the co-owner of Brown's Fish Market. He was a member of the Islamic Center of Saginaw. Surviving is his wife Easter Brown, four sons John, Tony and Odis Brown, all of Saginaw; and Charles (Linda) Brown of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Eileen Choyce and Brenda Brown, both of Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three brothers, James, Alvin and Walter (Rena) Brown, four sisters, Ollie Saniford, Alene Kidd, Almeater Triplett, Aldean Reed, also two special cousins, Estabell Saniford and Mose Burnside, many other relatives and special friends. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999 at the Wolverine Baptist Center, 615 S. Jefferson. Iman Abdur Rahim Rashada will officiate with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, February 15, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center-Harrison.
Age 90 years. He was born August 11, 1908 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin coming to Saginaw in 1941. Leo married Thomasine K. Shea on August 25, 1934. She predeceased him August 28, 1981. He had been employed at Eaton Manufacturing until his retirement in 1973. Leo was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and was an avid football fan, especially of the Green Bay Packers. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Bender and Mary Gail Kohlschmidt, both of Saginaw; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special neighbors Judy and Don Kirby. Leo was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donne Bender, and by three sisters and three brothers, Sister Rose Hellmich, Sister Theodorita Hellmich, Hildegarde Hellmich, Edward, Frank and Theodore Hellmich. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 1999 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Emmett Marceau will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at St. Helen Catholic Church where the family will be present on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Passed away Tuesday, February 16, 1999, at Martin Luther Home, after a brief illness. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Johann and Emma (Rau) Hensler was born August 9, 1909 in Freeland. She was a graduate of the County Normal School and became a teacher, teaching in the Freeland and Saginaw Schools for many years. She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and currently a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. She attended the U.A.W. Local #668 Retirees. Surviving are two daughters, one son and their spouses, Bonnie and Norman Bergdolt, Vassar; Lois and Randy Donohue, Charlotte, Mich.; Timothy and Marian Ludlum, Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, Debra Marzluft, Mike Bergdolt, Bethany McFarland, Deanna Scherpereel, Eric Bergdolt, Virginia Bergdolt, Brian Donohue, Carol Huhn, Cora, Tiffany and Carrie Ludlum; three great-grandchildren, Megan Scherpereel, Mason McFarland, Kaylynn Marzluft; five sisters, one brother and their spouses, Edna and Al Buetow, Thelma Lohrmann, Rhea and Richard Grass, John and Millie Hensler, Zona and Gerald Beeman and Donna Turner; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Agnes Klein, Clarence Hensler, Clemens Hensler, Amelia (Millie) Sparschu. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 1999 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5250 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. J. Kincaid Smith will officiate with burial in Kochville Cemetery. Age 75 years. Died 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 1999, at her daughter's residence in Missouri City, Texas. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 22, 1923. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1940 and St. Mary's Nursing School in 1942. She married W. Tracy Ellis November 13, 1943 and moved to Marion in 1948 where she had resided since. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana for over 50 years. She was a registered nurse and worked at the VA Hospital for nine years, retiring in 1985. Prior to working at the VA, she worked as school nurse in the Marion Public Schools for 22 years. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #94. Surviving are are husband, W. Tracy Ellis, Marion, Ind.; one son, Tracy C. Ellis, Rochester Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Bonnie L. (Garry) Driggers, Houston, Texas; Sandra K. (David) Folk, Pataskala, Ohio; sister, Melva Miller, St. Simons Island, Ga.; sister-in-law, Arline Beeker, Saginaw, Mich.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 1999 at the Raven Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Rev.
