PATRICIA SUE MOREY
Patricia Sue Morey of Vassar, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at her home. She was 65 years of age.
Mrs. Morey was born August 6, 1935 in Saginaw, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Laura (Davies) Enos. She and Guy D. Morey were united in marriage June 30, 1953 at the Vassar United Methodist Church.
She attended Chapel Hill Assembly of God in Vassar. Mrs. Morey enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and crocheting.
Surviving are her husband, Guy D. Morey of Vassar; three children, Sharon Ziegler of West Branch, Kimberly and husband Dennis Sargent of Grawn, Lance and wife Cindy Morey of Millington; grandchildren, Clint and Curtis Morey, Adam, Sarah, Kaitlin and Caleb Sargent, Ryan Ziegler; step-grandchildren, John, Joe and Lindsay Mallard; sister, Walla Beth and husband Harley Tedford; sister-in-law, Gloria Terry of Rochester; nieces and nephews, Steven and wife Cheryl Terry, Jeffrey and wife Mary Terry, Tracy and Mary Lou Terry, Laurene and husband Gary Sabo, Michael and wife Donna Tedford, Don and wife Jean James; and many cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 27, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Wally Reams officiated. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Bay City.
Arrangements were in the care of Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel, Vassar.
ANNIE E. STACER
Mrs. Annie E. Stacer of Vassar, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 while at the Covenant Health Care Center Cooper Campus of Saginaw. She was 80 years of age.
Mrs. Stacer was born May 18, 1922 in Saginaw, the daughter of Arthur and Beatrice (Puttock) Purkis. She marred R.D. Stacer on Oct. 26, 1946. They shared 55 years of marriage together.
Mrs. Stacer resided in Vassar most of her life and was a member of the Vassar United Methodist Church. She loved playing games with the grandchildren. She loved to knit, read a good book and loved playing bridge with her lady friends once a week.
Surviving is her family, husband, R.D. Stacer of Vassar; children, Jim and Annette Stacer of Vassar, Nancy and David McKinnon of Chelsea, Janet and Mike Graham of Owosso, William (Bill) and Julie Stacer of Vassar; also nine grandchildren, Angie and Jimmy Stacer, Jill Tallman, Kristen McKinnon, Katie and Michael Graham, Brad, Josh and Brett Stacer; two sisters, Betty Penney, Ruth Hewitson; a brother, Ted Purkis; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Purkis.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. Pastor Steve Woodford officiated.
Memorials may be directed to the Vassar United Methodist Church.

JEAN R. ROSS
Mrs. Jean R. Ross of Vassar, died Monday, September 30, 2002 at her residence. She was 80 years of age.
Mrs. Ross was born on February 19, 1922 in Mayville, the daughter of Phillip and Vera (Rice) Schank.
She graduated from Millington High School, class of 1941. On September 27, 1941 she married Sim M. Ross and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage. She was a member of the Vassar Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served on the Dorcas Society.
Surviving is her family, husband, Sim; two daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Robert Taylor, Bonnie and Lee Simonson, all of Vassar; three sons and their wives, Larry and Lois Ross of Thousand Oaks, California, Lanny and Roselie Ross of Vassar, Gary and Connie Ross of Vassar; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Reta Murphy of Millington, Norma Marcy of Vassar; and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service was held Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor Nathan Renner officiated.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Hope.
Arrangements were in the care of Hanlin Chapel for Funerals, Vassar.
ROGER A. BERGMAN
Mr. Roger A. Bergman of Vassar, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper. He was 53 years of age.
Mr. Bergman was born in Pigeon on July 6, 1949. He was employed by Super Foods/Nash Finch and was an honorary member of the Cass City Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, auction sales and spending time with his family. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild. He will be missed and remembered by all.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lorna Wurst; three children, Kristy Bergman, Carrie Bergman and Jason (Amy) Bergman; his mother, Florence Bergman of Frankenmuth; his brothers and sisters, Ed (Deb) Bergman Jr. of Vassar, Norma (Roger) Hartwick of Millington, Jim (Brenda) Bergman of Gainesville, Florida, John (Julie) Bergman of Cass City and Nancy (Rick) Mallory of Cass City; several nieces and nephews, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Bergman Sr. and a sister, Mary Rucker.
Funeral service was held Monday, June 2, 2003 at Penzien-Steele/Hanlin Chapel in Vassar. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.

R.D. STACER
Mr. R.D. Stacer, lifelong resident of Vassar, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 while at the Covenant Health Care Center Harrison Campus in Saginaw. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Stacer was born January 31, 1924 in Vassar, son of Rudolph D. and Bessie (MacLean) Stacer. He was a graduate of Vassar High School, class of 1941. He served our country during W.W. II and was trained as a Naval Aviator. After his discharge, he returned home and married Annie Purkis. Together he and Annie celebrated 55 years before Annie passed in September 2002. Mr. Stacer loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the cabin. Over the years he became an accomplished woodcarver. His favorite pastime was flying. For many years he flew his Piper Arrow taking friends and family on many trips. He was active in the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also active in the Vassar Rotary, the Atkinson American Legion Post, and the Millington Masonic Lodge #470 F. & AM. For many years he and his brother Mac owned and operated Stacer Sales & Service which had been started by their father. He retired in the mid-1980's.
Surviving is his family, children, Jim and Annette Stacer of Vassar, Nancy and David McKinnon of Chelsea, Janet and Mike Graham of Owosso, Bill and Julie Stacer of Vassar; grandchildren, Angie and Jimmy Stacer, Jill Tallman, Kristen McKinnon, Katie and Michael Graham, Brad, Josh and Brett Stacer; a sister, Lora Ann Beidler of Grand Rapids; a sister-in-law, Nancy Stacer of Vassar; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mac.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 25, 2003 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. Pastor Steve Woodford officiated.
Gifts of remembrance may be made to the Vassar United Methodist Church or the Vassar Boy Scouts Troop #201.

LEOLA M. DICK
Mrs. Leola M. Dick of Vassar, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003 while at the Brian’s Hospice House in Bay City. She was 64 years of age.
Mrs. Dick was born on September 12, 1938 in Saginaw, the daughter of Shelton and Gladys (Prestage) Glynn and had been a life long Vassar resident. On March 12, 1960 she married David R. Dick Jr. and they celebrated 43 years together. Mrs. Dick was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar.
Surviving is her family, husband, David R. Dick Jr.; children, son, David L. (Tyke) Dick and daughter, Charlene Dick, all of Vassar; godson, Ryan Swaffer of Linwood; two sisters, Alice Reil of Arizona, Velva and Jim Rhoten of Vassar; brother, Clarence and Evelyn Glynn of Millington; sister-in-law, Violet and Sam Licavoli of Millington; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Shelton Glynn; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Reil.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Vassar with burial following at the Millington Township Cemetery. Pastor James Naumann officiated the services.
Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Lutheran Church or to the Brian's Hospice House.

ALAN JAMES WARNER
Mr. Alan James Warner died on Saturday, June 28, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 50 years of age.
He was born on October 25, 1952 in Saginaw, the son of Lee and Florence (Perkett) Warner.
Mr. Warner is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter, Julie Warner, six grandchildren, sisters, Carol Kruger, Janet Nykamp, Barbara Warner and one brother, Jerry Warner.
He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Warner.
A memorial service will be held at Grace America Lutheran Church at a later date. Interment will follow at Vassar Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
