Gordon Dean Wilkinson
Of Vassar, age 64, died Monday, February 19, 2001 at St. Marys Hospital in Saginaw. Gordon was born September 5, 1936 in Stanwood, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Walker and Lora Lucille (Vredenburg) Wilkinson. He and Marjorie McCarthy were united in marriage May 28, 1955 in Big Rapids. He had been employed with Kroger and Kessel as a meat cutter for 20 years. Gordon was a member and past president of Vassar Eagles #2380. Surviving are wife: Marjorie; children, Gordon Wilkinson, Jr.; Leonard Wilkinson; David Wilkinson; Steven and wife Kimberly Wilkinson; Douglas Wilkinson all of Vassar; Donna Gamm and Brian Timko of Millington; Kevin and wife Sharon Wilkinson of Carlton; 13 grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, Stephanie, Charlotte, Doris, Michael, Trisha, Shannon Wilkinson, Ben Petz, Nick Petz, Leann Gamm, Jamie Gamm and Jessica Gamm; sisters and brothers, Phyllis Biglow of Morley, Herbert and wife Rosemary Wilkinson of Grand Rapids, Linda and husband Jim Sanders of Stanwood, Darrell and wife Connie Wilkinson of Stanwood; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place 11:00 am Friday, February 23, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 6-9pm Wednesday, 9am-9pm Thursday and 9am until time of service on Friday. Glenn Neil Shores
Age 80 of Mt. Morris, died Friday February 16, 2001 at McLaren Hospital. Funeral Service will take place 1:30 p.m. Monday February 19, 2001at the Miles Martin Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sat. from 6-9 p.m. 2-9 Sunday and on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family. Glenn was born December 7, 1920 in Flint, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Florence (Drake) Shores. Glenn and Marty Herzberg were united in marriage Feb. 14, 1941, a marriage that lasted 60 years. He retired in 1982 from General Motors with 30years of service. Glenn also enjoyed flying and golfing. He is survived by his wife Marty of 60 years. Children: Marlyn Wiedman of Birch Run; Glenn and wife Carol Shores of Millington; Patricia and husband Judd Judkins of Mt. Morris; Gordon and wife Reno Shores of Birch Run; grandchildren: Glenn, Chris, and Stephen Shores, Kari Judkins, Landon, Tyler , Cody and Jordan Shores, also great grand daughter: McKenzie Shores.
Lorna Jo "Thayer" Massey
Went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 15, 2001 at her residence. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday February 19, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Eldon Busenitz officiating. Morris; Jane and husband David Crane of Mt. Morris; Kelly Massey and fiancé Mark Jenkins of Mt. Morris; Larry and wife Kari Massey of Chapel Hill, TN.; 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sisters and brothers: Marge Johnson ; Frankie LaFlam; Roberta Burris; Leon Thayer; Raymond Thayer; Ethelynn Gonzlas; Jack Newberry. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, and 1 sister.
Frances "Fraciska" Antonette Hendrickson
Age 77 of Genesee Twp. died Wednesday February 14, 2001 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday from Our Saviour Lutheran Church 6901 N. Saginaw, Flint. Pastor Joe Cottam will officiate. Mrs. Hendrickson will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call after 12noon Friday. Family will be present to receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm Friday. Saturday morning she will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of services at 11am. She was born December 11, 1922 in Bertha, Minn. the daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Emma (Gaedke) Rosenberg. She and Wallace Hendrickson were united in marriage March 21, 1964. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, L.W.M.L., Deborah Circle, and the American Legion Swartz Creek Post. Frankie retired from AC Spark Plug division with 27 years service. Surviving are her husband: Wally; Brother: Roland Rosenberg; 9 Sisters: Selma Heuer; Martha Lindemier; Helen Hartung; Hilda and husband Henry Grabow; Sidonia Jacobs; Esther Breese and husband Brooks; Barbara Moore; Ruth and husband Robert Haase; and Marion and husband Robert Urbon. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Ernest F. Aiken
Age 74 of Mt. Morris died Wednesday February 14, 2001 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Richard Cook officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to recieve friends 3-9 pm Thursday. Ernest was born January 2, 1927 in Asheville, North Carolina the son of Ernest F. and Bertha (Lominac) Aiken. Ernest and Norma L. Brown were united in marriage October 10, 1953. He was employed by Chevrolet V-8 Engine with 30 years of service. He also drove school bus in Mt. Morris for 30 years. Ernest was a security gaurd at Forest Lake Condominiums in Cocoa, FL for 8 yrs. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Survived by wife: Norma; son & daughter: David & wife Shirley Aiken of Mt. Morris; Denise & husband Mikel Whitcomb of Mt. Morris; 5 grandchildren: Robert, Michael & Maria Garza, David Aiken & Jennifer Perryman; 2 great granddaughters: Ashlyn & Alyssa Perryman; Several nieces, nephews, cousins. Louis Paxton
age 70, of Clio died Tuesday February 13, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Cntr. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday from Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Douglas Klein will officiate. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Mr. Paxton wuil remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call Thursday 6-9pm and all day Friday. Family will be present to receive friends 6-9pm Thursday and Friday from 11am-2pm and 6pm-9pm. Saturday he will be taken to church to lie in state from 10am until time of services at 11am. Memorials may be directed to Crossroads Village Restoration Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. He was born at home in Vienna Twp. March 25, 1930 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Abbie (Dunham) Paxton. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict serving with the Air Force. He and Milli Shaver were united in marriage in Mt. Morris June 5, 1953. Louie graduated from GMI and retired from Buick Motor Division with over 30 years service as a machinist and machine repair. He Volunteered and was a life member of Crossroads Village where he was involved with restoration and the train crossing. Louie had over 4000 hours of volunteer time and was known and labeled as "Mr. Fixit". He planted hundreds of trees on his property and elsewhere. Surviving are his wife: Milli; Brother: James Paxton of Clare. He was the special uncle to many nieces and nephews, and loyal and special friend to many.
Perry Dale Whitetree
Of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday February 13, 2001. He was born March 23, 1955 in North Carolina. He is survived by his wife Robin, her children Dale, Orvil, Ardith, Robert, Natasha and their spouses, Emily and Elizabeth at home. 15 grandchildren, parents Charles and Nancy Whitetree, and several members of the Whitetree family. He was preceded in death by son Anthony. Cremation has taken place, no services will be held.
