Juanita Janie Isbell
Age 68, of Flint died Saturday February 10, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday February 13, 2001, at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. P. Thomas Wachterhauser to officiate. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home, 4-9 Sunday, 12-4, and 6-9 Monday. Juanita was born December 19, 1932 in Flint, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Catherine (Curtis) Wyles. Juanita and Hugh N. Isbell were united in marriage August 23, 1952. Survivors include: husband Hugh; 5 children: Norman and wife Patti Isbell of Davison; Kim Newton of Flint; Bryan and wife Tina Isbell of Mt. Morris; Diane and husband Frank Sposeto of Atlanta, GA.; Ward and wife Lisa Isbell of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, and 2 sisters: Dallas and wife LaDonna Wyles; Beverly Wyles; Muriel and husband Lyle Laidler. She was preceded in death by son Bradford and her parents.
Mary Kathleen Laurin
Age 87, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, February 9, 2001 at her son's residence. Funeral Mass will be held 12-noon Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-9pm Sunday, 9-9pm Monday and 9-11am Tuesday at Miles Martin Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held 11:15am at the funeral home with procession to church for the 12-noon service. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday, followed by a K of C Memorial service at 7:30 pm. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Vincent DePaul. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mary Kathleen was born March 3, 1913 in Mt. Morris, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas and Mary (Hoag) Dolan. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Adult Choir, the Ladies Altar Society and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, bingo, and playing cards. She and Joseph Napoleon were united in marriage January 15, 1936 at St. Marys in Mt. Morris. He preceded her in death on May 13, 1988. Surviving are 4 children: Patrick Laurin of Nebraska; Arthur and wife Donna Laurin of Clio; Theresa Ashlock of Flushing; Rose and husband Stuart Schultheiss of Davison; grandchildren: Arthur and Anjanette Laurin, Lisa and Tony McKerchie, Angela and Kraig Slick, Lori and Scott Keyes, Kelly and J.B. White, Celeste and Robert Tinetti, Dennis Schultheiss; great grandchildren: Ashtyn, Morgan, Alexis, Alexander, Andrea, Brenden, Samantha, Laurin, Mackenzie; 2 sisters-in-law: Madeline Dolan and Marion Dolan; many nieces and nephews, and special friends at Elmcrest Village in Flushing. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Leo, Francis, and Bill.
Vilas Mildred Gordon
Of Akron, age 94, died Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Brian's House in Essexville. Vilas was born August 26, 1906 in Fairgrove, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Laura (Davis) Pike. She and Glen J. Gordon were united in marriage December 26, 1929. He preceded her in death in August 1983. She was a lifelong member of the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Prior to her retirement she had taught school in various schools in the area. Surviving are two daughters and one son: Lee and wife Marsha Gordon of San Marcos, Calif.; Sharon and husband Ron Cottle of Gladwin; Joan and husband Wayne Elliott of Akron; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 1 sister: Winifred Uhan of Akron. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Davis Pike. Funeral services will take place 11:00 am Monday, February 12, 2001 at the Fairgrove Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Hollenbeck officiating. Burial at Brookside Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Fairgrove 1-9pm Sunday. On Monday morning Mrs. Gordon will be taken to church to lie in state where friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. John R. Dubaj
Age 91, of Mt. Morris died Wednesday February 7, 2001 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating, burial at Calvary Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Thursday 6-9, and Friday 2-8. Friday evening 7:30 pm family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at the funeral home . Saturday morning family, friends and parish will gather 10:00 am at the funeral home for prayers then precede to the church. John was born December 3, 1909 in Fosters, MI the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valintine and Agnes (Wachouicz) Dubaj. John and Helen were united in marriage at Assumption of B.V. M. Catholic Church in Fosters in 1938. He retired from General Motors with 37 years of service. Survivors include: wife Helen; sons: Richard Dubaj of Mt. Morris; Edward Dubaj of Genesee; John (Jack) Dubaj of Mt. Morris; 2 sisters Pauline Kettler of Montrose; Veronica Fedor of Gaylord. Several Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
Robert L. Alexander
Age 73, of Mt. Morris, died Monday February 5, 2001 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday from Miles Martin Funeral Home. Rev. Walter David officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home 12-9:00 pm Wednesday, 9:00 am until the time of service Thursday at 11:00 am. Robert was born May 30, 1927 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley and Bessie (Wilson) Alexander. Robert was an avid bowler, he liked fishing, camping and radio control planes. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. He retired from General Motors with 38 years of service. Survivors include: 3 children: Timothy and wife Alayna Alexander of Clio; Rob Alexander of Mt. Morris; Caroline and husband Jeff Winterlee of Mt. Morris; 7 grandchildren: Timothy J.; Kristin; Cole; Lyle; Jason; Alan and Jeremy; Brother: Doug Alexander of Davison; Special friend: Sharon Pagan of Grand Blanc.He was preceded in death by: wife Barbara Jean, 2 brothers: Lewis and Jack Alexander.
Charles Euel Martin
Age 79 of Vassar died Sunday February 4, 2001 at his home. Charles was born January 14, 1922 in Paris, Tennessee, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Sarah Ophelia (Johnson) Martin. He was a Veteran of WWII serving with the Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He and Evelyn Rasch were united in marriage April 26, 1946. Charles worked for Fleet Carrier Corporation as a truck driver for 30 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #108 - Oxford, VFW Post of Oxford, and the Teamsters Local #614. Surviving are his wife: Evelyn; Children: Jerry and wife Lori Martin of Oxfordl; Pamela Bovee of Taylor; Dennis and wife Nancy Martin of Suwanee, GA.; Charles and wife Karen Martin of Lapeer; Candace Martin-Albright and husband Charles of Buford, GA.; Lisa and husband Craig Gibisas of Vassar; 20 Grandchildren; 7 Great grandchildren; Brothers and sisters: William and wife Helen Martin of SanJacinto, CA.; Dorothy Puckett of Taylor; John Martin of IL.; Thomas Boro of IL.; Marge Houston of Rantoul, IL.; Vivian Haines of Grove, OK.; Marilyn Noller of Grand Junction, CO.; Joanne Schmuecker of Williamston; Gary "Dick" Martin of Redland, CA.; Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Raymond Martin, Robert Martin and Ira Martin. Funeral services will take place 12 noon Wednesday, January 7, 2001 from the Martin Funeral Home-Clark Chapel-Vassar. Sam Pace, Minister officiating. Interment will take place at 3:00 pm Wednesday at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MI. Marvell L. "Mert" Slocum

Marvel was born January 13, 1926 in Bono, Arkansas the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cleveland and Ruby R. (McGowan) Minton. She and Leon Slocum were united in marriage May 7, 1988. She retired from Ternstedt Division of G.M. in 1953 with 20 years of service. She was a seamstress that made clothing, baby clothing, alterations, and made hundreds of teddy bears. Marvel attended craft shows to look and also to display her own sewing and crafts. Prior to her accident she enjoyed traveling. Survivors include husband: Leon Sr.; son: James & wife Barbara Harris of Lennon; 1 granddaughter: Christina L. and husband Walter Mashburn of Oxford; 1 great granddaughter: Brice; 2 step children: Leon and wife Theresa Slocum Jr. of Davison; Lorelie and husband Tim Hennagir of Burton; 5 step grand children; 2 sisters: Myrtle and Betty both of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
