Sherry A. Allis
Age 54, of Montrose died February 1, 2001 at McLaren Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday February 5, 2001 from Montrose Wesleyan Church with Pastor Michael Stark officiating. Burial in Montrose Twp. Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society envelopes are available at the Funeral Home. Family will received friends 6-9pm Saturday, 9-9 Sunday. She will be taken Monday morning to Montrose Wesleyan Church to lie in state from 11-1. Sherry was born on May 14, 1946 in Tuscola the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald and Cleah (Pease) Plane. She and Robert were united in marriage on May 17, 1969 at the Mt. Morris Baptist Church. She was involved in Girl Scouts for many years and 7 years as a bandbooster. She lived to talk over the C.B. radio years ago. She also enjoyed oil painting, crocheting, plastic canvas, sewing, all crafts , computers and collected fans. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Surviving are husband : Robert; Daughters: Christi Cross of Mt. Morris; Cindy Allis and fiancé Jim Abrams of Cleveland, Oh.; 3 grandchildren: Jamie, Brittnie, and Caitlin Cross; Brother: James and wife Rosemary Pease of Davison; mother in law: Fern Busch of Phoenix, AZ.; brother in law: Ray and Connie Allis of Tacoma, WA.; Nieces and Nephews: Catherine, Caroline, Christopher, Jim and Leah; Special friends: Charlotte and Chuck Malcolm; Tom and Gail Sanders; Shirley and Dee Daniels; Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and Father in law Gilbert Allis.

Gary Eugene Countryman
Age 62 of Flint, died Friday April 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm from Miles Martin Funeral Home Wednesday May 2, 2001. Burial in Sunset Hills. Family will be present to receive friends Monday 3-9, Tuesday 9-9 and Wednesday 9am until time of service at 1:00pm. If desired memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Gary was born December 9, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thornton and Lena (Hopkins) Countryman. He was a Veteran serving with the Marine Corps. He was a Redwings fan and enjoyed deer hunting, golfing and his grandchildren. He was employed by AC Spark Plug and a member of the Local UAW. Gary and Susan Wildbore were united in marriage June 19, 1971 in Howell. Surviving are: wife Susan; 5 children: Gary Jr and wife Sandy Countryman of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle and husband Rickey Moon of Columbus, OH, Penny Hamilton, Bobby and wife Jennifer Countryman of Flint, Lynn and husband Dan Howko of Flint, 13 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Tomma, Cheryl, Patti, and Karen; 1 brother, Gerry; many nieces and nephews, dear friend Pete Plummer. The family wishes a special thank you to Genesys Home Care Nurses.

Harvey "Joe" Joseph Newcombe
Age 60, of Mt. Morris, died Friday April 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday April 30,2001 at the Mt. Morris Church of Christ Elder Garfield Cooper officiating. Burial at Flint Memorial Park . Family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends 9:00 a.m. to 9:00p.m. Sun. and at the church on Monday from 12- noon until time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt. Morris Church of Christ. Joe was born in Mt. Morris, July 7, 1940 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth C. and Mary Jeanette (Kern) Newcombe. He and Joan Elizabeth Oliver Faust were united in marriage March 14, 1975 in Mt. Morris. He retired November 1980 from Wickes Corporation as a Supervisor of administration in Saginaw with 6 years of service, and prior to that with McLaren General Hospital as supervision of Housekeeping with twelve years of service. He loved to watch boxing and Television, and enjoyed fishing during the summer months. He spent 5 years with Genesee Fire Department #1 as a volunteer fireman. He was a member of National Executive Housekeepers Association. Survivors include: Wife Joan of 29 years; Children: Fred and Corrine Faust of Sterling, Michigan; JoAnn and Tom Leineke of Mt. Morris; Kathy LaBine of Hastings, Michigan; Teresa Newcombe and fiance' Tim Gleffe - Holland, Mich. Debra and Ron Compton of Birch Run; Daniel and Sandy Newcombe of Clio; Mark and Tammy Smith of Gulfport, Miss.; 21 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren brother: Kenneth E. and wife Andrea Newcombe of Mt. Morris; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter -in- law Beatrice, nephew Joey and 1 great grand daughter.

Vernon W. Fettes
Age 83 of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, April 26, 2001 at McLaren Medical Center. No services will be held. Vernon was born February 16, 1918, in Harrisville the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Myrtle (Cade) Fettes. Surviving are, his wife, Mildred, daughter, Gwen and husband Mike Rosa, sister, Buelah Cole, and several nieces and nephews.

Bessie Marie Shanks
Age 85 of Mt. Morris and Fife Lake, Michigan died Tuesday April 24, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday April 27, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Mt. Morris. Pastor Richard Cook officiating, burial at Mt. Morris Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Children's Wish Fund at Hurley. Family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends 9am-9:00 pm Thursday. Friday morning Mrs. Shanks will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Bessie was born August 04, 1915 in Bannister, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman and Addie Mae (Jones) King. She and John D. Shanks were united in marriage October 5, 1946 in Angola, Indiana. Bessie retired from Buick Main Office in January of 1976 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Industrial Bus Girls Retirees. Survivors include: husband John ; 4 daughters: Sharlene and husband Bob Reinicke; Jeanell and husband Don Ellis; Susan and husband Larry Adams; Sheila and husband Carl Moore; 2 sons: John and wife Kathy Shanks; Bryan and wife Brenda Shanks; 15 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; 2 sisters: Doris Snyder of Argentine; Louise Petz of FL. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 grandson Adam Moore. Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, loved by all.

Mary Louise "Monie" Bonk
Age 67, of Mt. Morris, died Tuesday April 24, 2001 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday April 27, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Thursday 12-7:00 pm. Monie was born July 30, 1933 in Onaway, MI the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Jessie (Brown) Robideau. She and Frank were united in marriage June 5, 1954. Monie enjoyed bingo, lottery, cards and reading. Survivors include: husband Frank of 46 years; daughter: Susan and husband Randy Johnson; son: Russell Bonk; grandson: Jason Bonk; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 grandson, and 2 sons.

Patricia Sue Morey
Of Vassar, age 65, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at her home. Patricia was born August 6, 1935 in Saginaw, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Laura (Davies) Enos. She and Guy D. Morey were united in marriage June 30, 1953 at the Vassar United Methodist Church. She attended Chapel Hill Assembly of God in Vassar. Patricia enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening and crocheting. Surviving are, husband, Guy D. Morey of Vassar; three children, Sharon Zeigler of West Branch, Kimberly and husband Dennis Sargent of Grawn, Lance and wife Cindy Morey of Millington; grandchildren, Clint and Curtis Morey, Adam, Sarah, Kaitlin and Caleb Sargent, Ryan Ziegler; step grandchildren, John, Joe and Lindsay Mallard; sister, Walla Beth and husband Harley Tedford, sister-in-law, Gloria Terry of Rochester; nieces and nephews, Steven and wife Cheryl Terry, Jeffrey and wife Mary Terry, Tracy and Mary Lou Terry, Laurene and husband Gary Sabo, Michael and wife Donna Tedford, Don and wife Jean James; many cousins. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, April 27, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Pastor Wally Reams officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Family will present to receive friends at the funeral home 7-9pm on Wednesday, 1-4 pm and 6-9 pm on Thursday. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Bay City. envelopes are available at the funeral home.
