Helen A. Kenny
Age 88, of Birch Run Twp. Died Tuesday April 3, 2001 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday from Mt. Morris St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek and Rev. Fr. Robert McKeon officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kenny will remain at the Miles Martin Funeral Home where friends may call 5-9:00 pm Wednesday and all day Thursday. Wednesday evening the Clio Eagle Aerie #3609 and Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426 will gather at the funeral home 5:00 pm and Eagles memorial at 7:00 pm. Thursday afternoon St. Mary Alter Society will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary at 2:00 pm and the parish and family will gather to pary the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Friday morning Helen will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of funeral mass at 11:00 am. Memorial may be considered for St. Mary Church, Genesys Hospice, or the charity of your choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. She was born May 20, 1912 in Taymonth Twp. The daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Casimer and Margaret (Pawlanta) Toddish. She and James A. Kenny were united in marriage September 20, 1936 at St. Casimer Catholic Church in Saginaw. He preceded her in death September 17, 1971. Helen and her husband Jim were active members of Sacred Heart Parish in Birch Run until 1959 when they moved to Mt. Morris and became active and involved in St. Mary Parish. Helen was a member and past member of St. Mary Altar Society and St. Rose build, member and past Madam president of Clio Eagles Aerie #3969 and member of Birch Run Moose Lodge #2426. She was loved and admired by all whom knew her. Helen spent her life working for her family, her church, her friends, and her community. She loved to cook, garden, play shuffleboard, watch football, play Euchre and reading. Left to cherish her memory are her 8 children; 5 sons: Tom Kenny of Mt. Morris; Joe and wife Judy Kenny of Birch Run; Bob and wife Diane Kenny of Birch Run; Jerry and wife Rosemary Kenny of Columbus, IN.; John Kenny and friend Linda Delecki of Clio; 3 daughters: Lois Hughes of Clio; Lois Kenny of Flint; Kathy and husband Dale Kujacznski of Clio; 16 grandchildren: 17 great grandchildren; sister: Frances (Babe) Nagy of Saginaw; 2 sister-in-laws: Wanda Kenny of Saginaw and Helen Toddish of Birch Run; numerous nieces and nephews, and a unlimited number of friends; her beloved pets Buffy and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband , daughter Carol, granddaughter Kathryn, sister Eleanor (Toby) Japcinski, and brother Casimer (Bud) Toddish.
Warren George Denniston
Of Vassar, Age 69, died Monday, April 2, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. George was born August 23, 1931 in Hersey, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. and Leah (Steinfoff) Denniston. He and Rose Klein were united in marriage on November 10, 1956. He was a laborer at General Motors for 29 years. Surviving are his wife of 44 years Rose of Vassar; Two daughters: Rose & husband Donald Sebert of Vassar; Anita and husband Larry Pion of Davison; 4 sons: Warren Jr. and wife Linda Denniston of Vassar; Allen Denniston of Saginaw; Earl Denniston of Mayville; Elmer Denniston of Petoskey; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will take place 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Rev. David Wermuth officiating. Burial at Tuscola Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends 5-9:00 PM Tuesday, 9:00 am - 9:00 pm Wednesday, and 9:00 am until time of services on Thursday.
Owen Levon "Big O" Dorff
Age 69 of Mt. Morris, formerly of Ludington died Monday April 2, 2001 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday from St. Mary Catholic Church. Rev Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Friends may call at Miles Martin Funeral Home Tuesday 2-4pm and 6-9pm and Wednesday 9-12noon. Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm the parish and family will gather at the funeral home to pray the Rosary. Wednesday he will be taken to church to lie in state from 1:00 pm until time of funeral Mass at 2pm. Memorials may be considered for UofM Cancer Research. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Born October 16, 1931 Lancaster, MN the son of Mr. and Mrs. Holger and Beta (Melin) Dorff. He and Deanna (Shinsky) McGuire were united in marriage December 20, 1981.Owen was a veteran of Korean conflict serving with the US Army. He was lifemember VFW Post # 6842, Lifemember of D.A.V. Michigan Chapter #30, and lifemember American Legion Post #64 and formerly of Ludington post #76, Charter member and Past President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #145. He was also a member of Flushing Moose Lodge #1437. "Big O" Worked as a Sheriff Deputy and Detective for 25 years retiring 1985 from Genesee County Sheriff Dept. After his retirement he traveled a couple years and then resided in Ludington for 13 years before moving back to the Flint area this past year. Owen enjoyed playing cards, golf, and sailing, and being with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife: Deanna 5 sons: Rodney Dorff of Flushing; Kevin Dorff of Bluff City, TN; James McGuire of Flint; Jerry and wife Dori McGuire of Otisville; Sean McGuire of Flint; 3 daughters: Judie and husband Michael Miljan of Spring Lake; Sheri and husband Samuel Aguilar of Montrose; Renee and husband Tracy Auten of Otisville. 14 grandchildren: Brother: Clifford Olson on Yuma AZ. Several beloved nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Lester Dorff and Virgil Olson, and sister Pearl Newsome.

Loving mother, wife, and friend. Age 37, of Swartz Creek, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, April 5, 2001 from the Miles Martin Funeral Home. Mr. Vernon Lawrence officiating with cremation to follow. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends on Tuesday from 6-9pm and on Wednesday from 9-noon and from 2-9pm. Susan was born November 11, 1963 in Cadillac, MI, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Marietta (LaMouria) Strachan. She and Douglas McTaggart were united in marriage on September 12, 1992. Susan was employed with Molly Maid for over 11 years and worked throughout Lapeer and Genesee counties. Surviving are her husband Douglas McTaggart Sr.; 2 sons: Steven and Andrew Vincent and their father Steven Vincent; 3 stepsons: Douglas Jr., Justin Ray, and Travis James McTaggart; stepgranddaughter: Dylana Maylee Athey; mother: Marietta Strachan; father: Richard Strachan; 2 brothers: John and wife Amie Strachan and Rick Strachan; 2 nieces: Brittnnee and Brandi; special friends: Ken and Dorothy Brazier; many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Russell A. Goodrich
Age 57, of Fairgrove, died Wednesday May 30, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday June 2, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Burial at Brookside Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 10 am Saturday until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Russell was born July 29, 1943 in Alpena the son of Mr and Mrs. Russell and Dorothy (Geddart) Goodrich. Russell and Sandra J. Poppy Richmond were united in marriage July 29, 1977. He had been a self employed truck driver, and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Survivors include: wife Sandra; stepson: Gregg & wife Sara Richmond of Marquette; mother: Dorothy Goodrich of Alpena; 2 sisters and 1 brother; Sharon Holzwarth of Alpena; Rhoda Mills, Herron, MI; Bruce Goodrich, Ossineke.He was preceded in death by his father Russell.
Charles E. "Chuck" Pomroy
Age 40, of Mt. Morris died Wednesday May 30, 2001. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Saturday June 2, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Chuck was born October 30, 1960 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Arletta (Hicks) Pomroy. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1978. Chuck was involved in Mt. Morris Youth Football and Baseball. He and Kimberly Berry were united in marriage September 24, 1982. Chuck was employed by PJAX Freight System. Survivors include: wife Kim, 2 sons: Joshua, and Jonathon of Mt. Morris, parents Avis and Gerald Pomroy, sisters and brother: Shelly and husband Rick Huber of Montrose, Tammy and husband Alan Renico, of Arizona, Albert Pomroy of Birch Run, Tanya and husband Dick O'Connor of Clio, 2 step sisters: Judy and husband Bob Russell of Fenton, Jackie and husband Bill Morrison of Sutton's Bay, mother in law: Loretta Graves, mother and father in law; Kathleen and James Berry, brother in laws: James and wife Terri Berry, Rick Liddell, Dennis and wife Kim Liddell, Byrne and wife Stacey Liddell, Rob and wife Beth Graves, Scott and wife Lori Graves. Special people in Chuck's life included his aunt and uncle, Cheryl and Ken Johnson of Kansas, Cousins Douglas Dewberry and the Santino family. Also many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Arletta.

Age 2 ½ months of Mt. Morris died Saturday May 26, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center. Casey was born March 10, 2001 the son of Cheryl Lea Denty and William H. Thomas. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am Tuesday May 29, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek officiating. Burial at Crestwood Cemetery, Family will receive friends 2-8 pm Monday, 9 am until the time of service at 11am Tuesday. Surviving are parents: Cheryl Lea Denty and William H. Thomas; sister: Haley Ann Denty; half sister: Heather Thomas; half brother: Jorden Vinton; Grandparents: Merilyn and husband Lawrence Denty; Virginia Thomas; Great Grandmother: Rose M. Joseph; Many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
