Roger C. Morse
Age 56, formerly of the Flint area, died April 21, 2001 in Ruskin, Florida. Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday May 10, 2001 at Miles Martin Funeral Home. Deacon Jim Brown officiating, burial at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends Thursday morning starting at 9:30 am. Roger was born October 24, 1944 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin L. and Ellen J. (Roth) Morse. Roger served with the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. He was employed at Metal Fabricating with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed street rods, and was a member of several Car Clubs. Roger and Bethany A. Funsch were united in marriage December 10, 1966 in Flushing. He leaves to cherish his memory wife of 34 years: Bethany A. Morse; son: Robert N. Morse of Clio; mother: Ellen Morse of AuGres; sister: Linda and husband David Harmon of Twining; grandmother: Gladys Morse; special- in- laws: Janet and Don Mince; Bob and Bette Funsch. Several, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, infant son, and Roger Lawrence, father Calvin Morse and grandparents, Norman Morse, and Henry and Lula Roth.
Chad P. Conner
Age 28 of Clio died Thursady, May 3, 2001 at Hurley Medical Center. The family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home 10am-3pm Sunday. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the family. Chad was born March 2, 1973 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri the son of Mr. And Mrs. Paul Wisdom and Bonnie Conner. He is survived by his mother and step-father: Bonnie and Larry Anger of Clio. 2 brothers and 1 sister: Amanda and John McGinnis both of Mt. Morris, Curtis Anger of Clio. Several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Howard and Margie Conner.
Tony Asperger
Age 80, died Thursday May 3, 2001 at Caro Communtity Hospital. Tony was born February 12, 1921 in Caro, the son of Mr. And Mrs. George and Mary (Kreps) Asperger. He married Norma B. TerBush November 03, 1943. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Reese, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was also a member of the Reese American Legion Post #139. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at Turnsted-Coldwater Plant for 28 years. He is survived by: Wife: Norma of Vassar; 4 Chilidren: Gary & Gail Asperger of Vassar; Toni Kay and Dennis Hadeway of Fairgrove; Tom and Nola Asperger of Vassar; Scott and Beth Ann Asperger of Walled Lake; 10 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers and 1 Sister: George and Amelia Asperger of Dalton, Ga.; Paul Asperger of Flint; Helen Poppy of Caro. He was preceded in death by3 Brothers, John , Sylvester, and Martin, and a Sister Mary. Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Reese, Rev. Ron Vereb officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar. The family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home - Clark Chapel in Vassar from 3-9 p.m. Friday and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Funeral services will take place 3:00 pm, Friday, May 4, 2001 from the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Mr. Vernon Lawrence officiating. Burial in Montrose Cemetery. Family will be present at the funeral home to receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday, and on Friday from 12 noon until the time of service at 3:00pm. Donna was born January 28, 1918 in Mt. Morris, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude and Bessie (Leland) Rounds. She married Elisha A. Beach on Dec. 18, 1937 in Flint, the two divorced on March 29, 1948. She then married John Harvey on April 12, 1967, he preceded her in death on August 13, 1967. Surviving are, her son, Rex Beach, 2 grandchildren, Ronnie Dean Beach and Trent Lee and wife Dawn Lynn Beach, 1 great granddaughter, Noel Harris, sister, Rhea Mardell Mead, several nieces and nephews.
Louisa J. Tremonti
Formerly of Vassar, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at her residence. She was born May 12, 1924 in Detroit, the daughter of Titus and Theresa Tremonti. She had resided in Vassar before returning to Detroit where she had been employed for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company prior to her retirement. She is survived by 2 brothers, Chet Tremontia of Kewadin, Michigan and Reno Tremonti of Warren, Michigan; 2 nieces: Teresa Myczkowiak of Saginaw and Amy McConkie of Midland. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Curio. Private graveside service took place on Friday, July 6, 2001 at Riverside Cemetery.
Leslie Leo Crawford
Age 82, of Mt. Morris went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 29, 2001. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday July 3, 2001 at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Pastor Richard Cook officiating with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. Family will receive friends at the Miles Martin Funeral Home from 4-9pm Sunday, 10-1 and 4-9 pm Monday. On Tuesday morning, Leslie will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:30 am until the time of services at 11:30 AM. Donations may be directed towards the Mt. Morris First Baptist Church or to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church. Leslie was born October 15, 1918 in Dexter, Missouri the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Elbert and Emma (Gillis) Crawford. He and Rosalie Davidson were united in marriage on August 7, 1946 at the Birch Run Methodist Church. Before entering the service, he worked for the CCC's at Rapid River in the U.P. Leslie served in the US Army as a Tec 4 in the 12th General Hospital Group during WWII. He received the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal , European African Middle East Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, 1 Service Stripe and 5 Overseas Service Bars. Leslie worked for GM at Ternstedt for 35 years, and was a member of the UAW # 326, VFW Gordon R. Bennett Post # 1452 and he was a sunday school teacher for 10 years. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie, 3 children, Maxine (Mickey) and husband Gary Tanner, Leslie G. and wife Christiane Crawford, Matthew Wayne Crawford, 5 grandchildren, Krysta, Gary Dean and Nathan Tanner, Nicole Lynn and Leslie Jr. Crawford, Great granddaughter : Lindsey Nicole Bouchard, 3 sisters: Polly, Edna and Jeannie, several nieces and nephews, and favorite lap warmer: Trauma "the kitty". Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, sister Veda and brother Paul.
Betty Lou Slater
Of Vassar, age 73, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Betty was born September 21, 1927 in Vassar, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton and Gladys (Wagner) Grainger. She and Zenis Slater were united in marriage May 8, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1996. Surviving are 3 children: Charles and wife Debra Slater of Vassar; Kristine and husband Randy Vincent of Vassar; Douglas Slater of Bradenton, Florida; 5 grandchildren: Danielle Slater; Cory Slater; Jeff McCrandall; Jason Vincent; Kylie Vincent; sister: Bonnie and husband Gene Seney of Vassar; special friend Delores Oprea. A graveside committal service will be held 12:30 pm Saturday June 30, 2001 at Tuscola Township Cemetery with Rev. Cyril Haines officiating.
