James L. Holland
James L. Holland, of Reese, died unexpectedly, Tuesday morning January 25, 2005 at his residence. Age 72 years. He was born August 29, 1932 in Akron, Michigan, son of the late Oscar and Irma (Anderson) Holland. He served with the United States Navy from 1952-1953 and was employed for over 40 years at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring in 1991. He married Marie (Spiekerman) Damm March 18, 1989. She survives him. He and Marie spent many winter months in Florida after their marriage and he enjoyed watching sports on television, especially University of Michigan football, and talking and playing euchre with his many friends. Surviving besides his wife Marie, is his granddaughter and her husband, Tammy and Rick Harris and his great-grandson Dustin Harris all of California, his three sisters and one brother and their spouses, Odeal and Roy DeCaire, June and William McAlpine, and Howard and Deanna Holland all of Sebewaing, and Joyce and Warren Winters of Bay City. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his three brothers Roland, Leland, and Gerald Holland and his sister Orla Schweitzer.
Funeral and committal services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 9940 Saginaw St. Reese. Pastor Jean Larson of the Reese United Methodist Church will officiate with burial to take place later in the Denmark Township Cemetery in Reese.
Mr. Holland’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.

Martin J. Stockmeyer
Martin Stockmeyer Sr., of Reese, died early Monday morning, January 31, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Age 83 years. He was born August 19, 1921 in Blumfield Township, Saginaw County, son of the late Martin and Clara (Beyer) Stockmeyer and attended Reese Schools. He married the former Bobby Jean York in 1953. She predeceased him in 1972. Before World War II, Martin was employed at Universal Engineering in Frankenmuth. He then served with the U.S. Army 45th Infantry during WWII from 1942 until his discharge in 1945. Upon returning from active service, he became employed by General Motors Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw until his retirement in 1978. He also owned and operated Martin J. Stockmeyer Seamless Eavestrough Co. in Reese for many years. Mr. Stockmeyer was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese, The Reese American Legion Post #139 and the NRA. His hobbies included boxing, auto racing, especially dirt track sprint cars, and coin collecting. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Martin and Lisa Stockmeyer Jr. of Reese, Richard Stockmeyer of Grand Rapids, Julie and John Anderson of Freeland, Shelley Gross of Stephenville, Texas, and Karen and Roosevelt Sims of Saginaw, twelve grandchildren, Michael, Terry, Billy, Kim Jr., Kameron, Kandace, Jodie, Zachary, Matthew, Jacob, Kelly, and Melissa, six great grandchildren, Alexis, Shane, Katelyn, Hannah, Loren and McKinley and his brother Walter Stockmeyer of Reese. In honoring Martin’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2005 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 9940 Saginaw St. Reese. Rev. Douglas Kahl of the Christ Lutheran Church will officiate with inurnment to take place later in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. The American Legion Post #139 of Reese will present military graveside honors.

Davalyn Marie Edwards
Davalyn Marie Edwards, of Saginaw, died unexpectedly, Saturday afternoon, February 19, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Age 33 years. She was born February 11, 1972 in Saginaw, daughter of David and Rosalie (Burns) Edwards, and was a graduate of Beaverton High School class of 1990. Davalyn received her Associate Degree in Business from Delta College and was currently employed as a loan officer at the Bay Community Credit Union in Bay City for the past seven years. She attended both the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese and the Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She enjoyed playing golf and fishing and being with her family in Curtis during the summer months. Surviving besides her parents David and Rosalie, are her brothers and sister and their spouses, Rick and Wanda Baird of Saginaw, Bob and Toni Baird and Penny and Terry Patsey, all of Beaverton, two nieces and four nephews, Michele, Shannon, T.J. and his fiancée Barbara Hunt, Ricky, Jasen and David and her special friends, Debbie Bond, Manual Barajas, Jeff Sampson, and Scott Luna. Twin infant sisters predeceased Davalyn.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday February 25, 2005 from the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese. Rev. Douglas Kahl will officiate with entombment to take place at 2 p.m. in the Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw.

Delmar Kietzman
Delmar Kietzman, of Reese, Michigan, died Wednesday morning, February 23, 2005 at his residence. Age 73 years. He was born December 8, 1931 in Reese, son of the late Paul and Esther (Swanson) Kietzman and was a 1950 graduate of Saginaw High School. On July 3, 1966 he was married to Jackie Sage Gunlock in Saginaw. Mr. Kietzman was employed for 391/2 years as a railroad engineer with The CSX Railroad. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese, enjoyed being with his family, and playing cards. Surviving in addition to his wife Jackie are his children and their spouses, Mike and Dawn Kietzman of Cadillac, Tim and Sandy Kietzman, and Cindy and Roger Cruzan, all of Missouri, Marilyn Kietzman and her fiancée Dayton Krajicek, and Michael and Linda Gunlock, all of Illinois, David and Karla Gunlock of Richville and Michelle Goodrow of Reese, 18 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kietzman was predeceased by his three brothers, Eldon, Arnold and Robert Kietzman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday February 26, 2005 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Rev. Fr. Bill Gruden will officiate with burial to follow in the St, Elizabeth Cemetery.

Kenneth Kretz
Kenneth George Kretz, 83, of Midland went home to his Lord Friday, February 25, 2005 at Tendercare nursing home. He was born July 21, 1921 in Saginaw, son of George C. and Elizabeth (Colin) Kretz. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Signal Corps. On June 22, 1946 he married Zelphia Hardies in Detroit. She predeceased him in 1988. Kenn retired as a carpenter contractor, and had previously worked at Malleable Iron. He married Betty Long, and they have enjoyed sharing the last 15 years together. Kenn was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3651, enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at MidMichigan Medical Center, St. Mary’s Hospital, and the staff at Tendercare and Heartland Hospice for their outstanding care. Surviving in addition to his wife Betty are his step-children; Robert Long, Elizabeth Ann Holcomb, Sandra Shaffer, Brenda Hawkins, Michael Long, Thomas Long, children; Linda Page, Kenneth B. Kretz, Kathy Giltrop, Kirk Kretz, brothers and sisters; Jackie (Harvey) Wilson, Bev (Dick) Kelley, Tom (Sharon) Kretz, Betty (Dick) Rottman, Sharon (Jim) Howell, Gloria (Jim) Fruge, George Jr. (Ellie) Kretz, Barbara (Doug) Brockett, Darrell Kretz, aunt Lizzie Lishow, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His sister Elaine Kram predeceased him.
Memorial services for Kenn will take place at 3 pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2005, from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 W. Wheeler Street, with military honors presented by the Midland Area Veterans.

Kenneth J. Meyette
Kenneth J. Meyette, 89 of Saginaw, died Friday evening, February 25, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was born on August 1, 1915 in Pinconning son of the late Felix J. Sr. and Clara (Arquette) Meyette. Ken married the Former Nina Ritchie on January 18, 1936 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Pinconning. He was employed with General Motors Corporation, working at the Grey Iron Foundry for 42 ½ years, retiring in 1975. Ken was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and had owned and operated the Meyette Apple Farm for many years. He had enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, playing cards and dancing. Surviving in addition to his wife Nina of 69 years are his children and their spouses, Robert and Sally Meyette of Sanford, Gloria and Dale Binder of Saginaw; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Felix J. Jr. and Marilyn Meyette of Standish, one sister, Dorothy Dolson of Freeland and a sister-in-law, Delores Meyette of Moses Lake, Washington. One grandchild and two brothers, Albert and Emery Meyette predeceased him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2005 from St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Rev. Father Bill Gruden will officiate with burial in St. Andrews Cemetery in Saginaw.
