Jessie M. Coates
A Memorial Service for Jessie Coates, 94, of Plymouth will be held Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. at Risen Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Hugh McMartin, chaplain of the Lutheran Home of Livonia, officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim, Ontario.
Mrs. Coates was born March 26, 1908 in Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada and died Sept. 8 in Livonia. She came to Detroit in 1924 and was active in the women's club of Nativity Lutheran Church and worked as a personal shopper at J.L. Hudson Co.
She moved to Michigan upon his death. She was a 20-year resident of Plymouth and a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She loved her Main Street apartment, across from the old high school, because all the parades went right by her window. Her apartment was "parade central" for her many family members. She was a constant source of sound advice for her granddaughters on handling the daily stress of life. Examples of her needlework can be found in all of her families homes.
Mrs. Coates was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Coates, in 1974.
Survivors include son, Emerson (Diane) Coates of Plymouth; daughter, Maxine (James) Tudor of Livonia; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mehar Kaur Singh
Services for Mehar Singh, 79, were held Sept. 7 at Vermeulen Funeral Home with the funeral procession leaving for White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Mrs. Singh died Sept. 3 at St. Mary Hospital in Livonia
Mrs. Singh was preceded in death by her husband, Nazar Singh..
Survivors include children, Jerry Gurteg Singh (Gurjit Kaur), Baldeep Singh (Rajinder Kaur), Gurdip Kaur (Rachhpal Singh) Bhandal, Karamjit Singh (Harjinder Kaur), and Gunwant Kaur (Harminder Singh) Rai; and sisters, Mohinder Kaur Sandhu and Amarjit Kaur (Gopal Singh) Grewal.

Floyd E. Daugherty
Services for Floyd Daugherty, 70, of Northville, were held Sept. 7 at Vermeulen Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Frey officiating. Burial was at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.
Mr. Daugherty was born July 27, 1932 in Newberry and died Sept. 4 in Northville. He worked in assembly. He was a member of Plymouth Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Daugherty.
Survivors include wife, Nancy J. Daugherty of Northville; sons, Floyd E. (Debby) Daugherty of Columbus, Michigan at the Detroit Psychiatric Hospital and the Plymouth State Home. She came to the Plymouth community in 1984 from Detroit. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the Grand River Baptist Church in Detroit, now in Livonia. She enjoyed stained glass work, riding her bike across the state, and playing with her beloved pets. She enjoyed traveling and being with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Meryl Milton.
Survivors include daughter, Isabell Sand of Plymouth; foster daughter, Mona Howard Fryman of Cincinnati; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Salvation Army.

Herbert T. Fletcher, Sr.
Services for Herbert Fletcher, 90, of Plymouth were held Sept. 10 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Bixby officiating. Burial was at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
Mr. Fletcher was born May 10, 1912 in Buena Vista, Pa. and died Sept. 6 in Plymouth. He worked as a power house machinist for 42 years. He came to the Plymouth community in 1947 from Highland. He loved golf and bowling, was an avid sports fan and hockey and football were his favorites.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite.
Survivors include daughters, Flora (David) Hough of Ada and Ellen Hall of Plymouth; son, Herbert T. Jr. (Pauline) of Plymouth; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Wittbrodt of Sterling Heights.

Doris A. Fisher
Services for Doris Fisher, 90, of Westland were held Sept. 3 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. John J. Sullivan officiating.
Ms. Fisher was born Nov. 1, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. Stewart, who died Sept. 4 in Cincinnati, grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949. He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth. He graduated from the University of OH 45203.
Dorothy Lee Newman
Services for Dorothy Newman, 81, of Canton were held Sept. 9 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland with the Rev. Kurt E. Lambart officiating. Burial was at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia.
Mrs. Newman was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Michigan State University. He was a captain in the Calvary R.O.T.C. program, gaining national recognition for his fencing expertise leading to his designation as Michigan Affiliate Inc., 30600 Telegraph Road, Suite 2255, Bingham Farms, MI 48025 or Arbor Hospice, 2366 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

Genevieve R. Kappler
Services for Genevieve Kappler, 77, of Plymouth, were held privately. Mrs. Kappler was born Nov. 5, 1924 in Detroit and died Sept. 13 in Detroit. She was a bookkeeper in the clerical business.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon L. Merecki, and Janice M. (David) Weitzer; grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Julia and William; and sister, Irene Pickwick.
