LEONARD R. NOWACKI
Services for Leonard R. Nowacki, 92, of Livonia, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20 at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington with the Rev. Gerald McEnhill officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Mr. Nowacki was born Jan. 10, 1910 in Manistee, Mich. and died May 16, 2002 at Providence Hospital in Southfield. He worked in public relations for the auto industry and was a retired U.S. Navy captain. He was also past commander of the Broadhead Naval Academy in Detroit.
He is survived by his son, John (Carol); daughters, Mary Jean (Rick) Bollinger and Frances (James) Taylor; brother, Walter; and sister, Mary Ann. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanne.

PALMER J.A. WERNER
A Celebration of Life memorial service for Palmer Werner, 90, of Redford will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 20 in Clarenceville United Methodist Church, 20300 Middlebelt Road, Lvionia.
Mr. Werner died May 13, 2002, after an auto accident in Livonia. He was born Aug. 5, 1911, in Liberty, Ohio. He received his high school diploma as an octogenarian in 2000.
Mr. Werner was a combat veteran and P.O.W. during World War II. He was a member of V.F.W., American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
He was a a Member of Clarenceville United Methodist Church. Mr. Werner was a master photographer, and member of Detroit and National Professional Photography Association.
He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughter, Claudia; step-children, Jim, Tom and Marla; six grandchildren, Jim (Tami) Kimble, Holly Kimble, Randy Weaver, Heide Weaver, Brent Kimble and Ryan Kimble; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Callie.

MARJORIE L. VANSTONE
Services for Marjorie Lorraine Vanstone, 76, of Farmington, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. James Britt officiating. Burial will take place at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
Mrs. Vanstone was born Feb. 25, 1926 in Canada and died May 16, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She was a homemaker and member of Clarenceville United Methodist Church in Livonia.
She is survived by her sons, William Jr., Danny and Loren; daughter, Linda Hunt; brothers, John and William Campbell; sisters, Mary Pankow and Florence Stolliker; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband William, son, Charles and brother, Robert Campbell.
VIRGINIA L. WARD
Services for Virginia Lois Ward, 70, of Farmington Hills, were held May 10 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. William Hill officiating. Burial took place at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.
Mrs. Ward was born Feb. 25, 1932 in Detroit and died May 6, 2002 in Farmington Hills.
She is survived by her sons, Steven, Daniel (Michelle) and Donald (Ingrid) Ward; daughters, Connie Ward, Brenda (Wayne) Fillion and Karen Ward; brother, Robert (Helen) Boyd; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
DONALD C. SHERWOOD
Services for Donald Charles Sherwood, 72, of Grout, Mich., were held May 8 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Karen Blatt officiating.
Mr. Sherwood was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Detroit and died May 4, 2002 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland. He worked as a senior processor for Commerce Contrals in Novi and was a member of the Plymouth Rock Lodge #47 - Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Keith (Kimberely) and Steven (Sherry); and granddaughters, Karley, Hannah and Alivia.

Mrs. Mencotti was born July 27, 1914 in Hamtramck and died May 4, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Slesinski was born Nov. 18, 1925 in Detroit and died May 3, 2002 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor.

PAULA E. STOFER
A memorial service for Paula E. Stofer, 56, of Southfield, will be held at 11 a.m. today, May 9, at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with burial at Southfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Stofer was born Oct. 1, 1945 in Detroit and died May 4, 2002 at Providence Hospital in Southfield. She was a professor of history and English at Lawrence Technological University for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Michigan Historical Society, District VII Coordinator of Michigan History Day Program, the LTU Alumni Association, and numerous historical societies around the state. Mrs. Stofer was also a Civil War re-enactor and enjoyed woodworking.
She is survived by her son, Jason (Victoria); daughter, Sara Stofer; mother, Helen Tennies; brother, Dave Tennies; sister, Mindy Albright; nieces and nephews, Paul, Heather, Charity, Corrie, Jessie, Hillary, Shane, Kimberly, Katie, Emma and Natalie; and daughters of her heart, Meg Harkonen and Beth Kahn. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald.
