Mr. Brooks was born May 9, 1933, and died Aug. 24 in Wayne. He was a pipefitter at General Motors Hydramatic.
Surviving are his wife, Susan; stepsons, Mark (Kim) Dickins and Bob (Anne) Dickins; and four grandchildren.
Linda Marie Clippert
Services for Linda Clippert, 51, of Westland were Aug. 21 in Uht Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia. Officiating was the Rev. Jack Baker.
Mrs. Clippert was born Feb. 16, 1951, and died Aug. 16 in Southfield. She was a union representative.
Surviving are her son, Glenn (Renee) Clippert; daughter, Andrea (Art) Holman; parents, Glenn and Angelina Clippert; sisters, Cynthia (Mike) Lucas and Janice (DeWayne) McClendon; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Colin, Tina and Paige; and companion, Ed Wagner. Many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Clippert was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Cook.

Doris Elizabeth Sitok
Services for Doris Sitok, 82, of Westland were Aug. 17 in Uht Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Ron Callen.
Mrs. Sitok was born Jan. 16, 1920, and died Aug. 14 in Westland. She was a manager.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon McGuire; three brothers; one sister; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sitok was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jr.
Sylvia Laws
Services for Sylvia Laws, 61, of Westland were today, Thursday, Aug. 22, in Uht Funeral Home with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland. Officiating was the Rev. Roger Stombaugh.
Mrs. Laws was born Oct. 10, 1940, and died Aug. 19 in Garden City. She was a certified nurse's assistant.
Surviving are her son, Mark (Teresa) Vanderhill of Wayne; daughters, Brenda Frazier and Sharon (David) Jenks; brothers, Arthur Gabbard, Joe Gabbard and Herman Gabbard; sisters, Lauramae Chandler, Dorothy Wurts and Pauline Straw; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Laws was preceded in death by her husband, William.
Helen Maxine Weaver
Services for Helen Weaver, 80, of Westland were Aug. 19 in Uht Funeral Home with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland. Officiating was the Rev. Frank Graves.
Mrs. Weaver was born July 20, 1922, and died Aug. 15 in Westland. She was a line worker.
Surviving are her son, Robert (Suzanne) Weaver; daughter, Barbara (Ralph) Hustad; brothers, Jock Longstreet, Hal Longstreet, Hugh Longstreet and Paul Longstreet; sisters, Rubeden Hill and Marjorie Tossey; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, and brothers, Earl, George and Glen Longstreet.
Norman T. Wypycha
A memorial service for Norman T. Wypycha, known as Gunny, will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at VFW Bova Post 9885, 6440 Hix in Westland.
Mr. Wypycha, 65, of Wayne was born Oct. 23, 1936, and died Aug. 18. Funeral services were Aug. 21 at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Wayne, with the Rev. Rebecca Schrader offiating.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he obtained his nickname while serving as a gunnery sergeant. While in Vietnam, he was wounded, twice receiving a Purple Heart and numerous other commendations. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a career Marine with 21 years of service. In 1967, he was the Marine recruiter for the city of Wayne.
He was a member of the VFW Bova Post, Vietnam Veterans Chapter 387 and Marine Corps League of Northville.
He is survived by children, Toni (Oakley) Searls, Julie (Tony) Wypycha and Mike Wypycha; grandchildren, Anthony and Aleia; sister, Elaine (Nelson) Chapman. He was preceded in death by parents, Teofil and Anna Wypycha.
Alice V. Matthews
Services for Alice Matthews, 88, of Wayne were Aug. 13 in Vermeulen Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Drex Morton.
Mrs. Matthews was born June 22, 1914, in Buford, Ga., and died Aug. 10 in Wayne. She was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked in a factory. She owned a small neighborhood store in Detroit for a time. She lived Detroit 50 years and was a Wayne resident 25 years.
Mrs. Matthews enjoyed gardening, reading, working around her home, and arts and crafts.
Surviving are her son, Don (Sharon) Matthews of Westland; daughters, Nancy (Kenneth) Privett of Morrisville, N.C., and Jean Alcala of Livonia; three grandchildren, Donna, Guy and Kathleen; and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Matthews.
Darlene M. Bannister
Services for Darlene Bannister, 54, of Westland were Aug. 12 in Good Hope Lutheran Church, Garden City, with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland. Officiating was the Rev. Lisa Raylene Barnes.
Miss Bannister was born Dec. 10, 1947, in Dearborn, and died Aug. 9 in Westland. She was a pharmacy technician.
Miss Bannister is survived by her lifelong friend, Katherine "Sandy" Capley, and many friends.

Mrs. Persh was born April 6, 1963, in Livonia, and died Aug. 8 in Livonia. She was an executive manager.
Surviving are her husband, Timothy; son, Anthony Perry; daughters, Katelyn Persh and Kristen Persh; mother, Gladys Hanner of Gladwin; brothers, Thomas Hanner of Lake Orion and Gary Lowe of Detroit.
Mrs. Persh was preceded in death by her father, Dean Lowe.

Milton George Priehs
Services for former Westland resident Milton Priehs, 71, of Alpena, Mich., were Aug. 13 in Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, Plymouth, with burial at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens, Novi. Officiating was the Rev. Drex Morton.
Mr. Priehs was born May 22, 1931, in Ferndale and died Aug. 7 in Alpena. He worked in the maintenance department for Ford Motor Co., retiring after 29 years of service. He came to the Spruce, Mich., community in 1992. He was a member of UAW Local 900. Mr. Priehs enjoyed going to craft shows, bingo, bowling and the casinos.
Surviving are his sister, Nancy (Bob) Levesque of Westland; nieces, Linda Gabert of Westland, Kathy Potvin of Ortonville, Deborah Vamplew of Ortonville and Cindy Levesque of Detroit; several great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
Joseph Robert Hammel
Services for Joseph Hammel, 44, of St. Charles, Mo., were Aug. 14 in St. Michael Catholic Church. Officiating was the Rev. David West.
Mr. Hammel was born April 26, 1958, in Detroit and died Aug. 7. He was an electrical engineer.
Surviving are his mother, Carmine Hammel-O'Brien of Westland; brother, Jim Hammel, Mark (Char) Hammel and Tim Hammel; sister, Ann (Al) Sciberras; three nephews; and five nieces.

Arlene N. Wethington
Services for Arlene Wethington, 75, of Reed City, Mich., were Aug. 14 in Vermeulen Funeral Home with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. Ray Field.
Mrs. Wethington was born Nov. 7, 1926, in Lansing and died Aug. 11 in Grand Rapids. She was a factory worker.

Clara A. Cobb
Services for Clara Cobb, 93, of Westland were Aug. 15 in Vermeulen Funeral Home with burial at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Officiating was the Rev. James Roberts.
Mrs. Cobb was born May 13, 1909, in Canada and died Aug. 11 in Westland. She was a manicurist.
Surviving are her daughter, Beverly Moore of Westland; and five grandchildren, Dalene (Brent) Rowden of Sturgis, Kevin (Letha) Moore of Georgia, Shaune (Donald) Boren of Livonia, Wayne (Tammy) Moore of Redford and Daryl Moore of Westland.

Nicholas C. Nestico
A Celebration of Life Service for Nicholas Nestico, 78, of Livonia will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, in Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile, Livonia, with burial at Mt. Hope Memorial Gardens. Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, Aug. 18, in the funeral home.
Mr. Nestico died Aug. 15. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; children, Cheryl (Randy) Venier of Westland, Brian (Keli), Kenneth and Gregory (Michele); stepchildren, Ronald Stevens and Karen Silcott; siblings, James, Victor, Joseph and Lillian Muldowny; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Nestico was preceded in death by his daughter, Candace Addison.

Peter T. Demers
Peter Demers, 79, of Redford Township died Aug. 6.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Barbara; children, Dave (Anne) of Westland, Naomie (Scott) Forney of Southfield, Noel (Kate) of Southfield, Leonard (Patti) of Redford Township, Paul (Jinia) of Farmington Hills, Ruth of Livonia, Denise (Mark) Stein of Bloomfield Hills and Bill of Livonia; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Demers was preceded in death by his son, Glen, and granddaughter, Erin.
