Services for Eileen Freed, 81, of Westland were held Oct. 23 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Frederick Nichols officiating. Burial was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Livonia.
Mrs. Freed was born Nov. 11, 1920 in Canada and died Oct. 20 in Taylor. She was a retired head cashier at the Kroger store in Plymouth. She came to the Westland community in 1994 from Plymouth. She enjoyed needlepoint, crafts, and her dog, Buddy. She was a loving mother, grandmother,. great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Mrs. Freed was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Levon Freed.
Survivors include children, Gail (Edward) Davis of Ariz., Karen (Leon) Sheffer of Livonia, and Gregory (Ginger) Freed of Dearborn Heights; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Maxine Badder of Canada, Bernice (Pete) of Canada, Vern (Terri) Nantau of Canada, Douglas Nantau of Canada, Beverly (Robert) LaFave of Canada, and Virginia (Frank) Scruto of Canada.

Rans Merlin Vess
Services for Rans Vess, 86, of Westland were held Oct. 23 at L.J. Griffin Funeral Home in Canton with the Rev. Rockey Barra of Tri-City Christian Center officiating. Burial was at Knollwood Cemetery in Canton.
Mr. Vess was born Sept. 15, 1916 in Old Fort, N.C. and died Oct. 20 at Oakwood Hospital. He was a department supervisor for an automotive company.
Mr. Vess was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; son, Boyd Merlin Vess; and grandson, Justin Teague.
Survivors include daughters, Linda Wiley and Brenda (Richard) Teague; brother, Jimmy (Dicie) Vess; grandchildren, Rebecca (Greg) Stewart, Christopher (Mary) Wiley, Aaron (Julie) Teague, and Alicia Belcarz.

Vera A. Dyer
Services for Vera A. Dyer, 80, of South Lyon, were held on Oct. 24 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Mrs. Dyer was born Jan. 12, 1922 in Standish and died Oct. 21 in South Lyon. She moved to South Lyon in 1998 from Plymouth, where she resided for 57 years. Vera worked for Ford Motor Company Livonia Transmission Plant in Livonia for ten years on the assembly line. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Dyer in 1958.
Survivors include children, Darlene (Bennie) Richmond of Jonesville, Mich., Shelly Davis of Tennessee, Larry (Debbie) Dyer of Plymouth, Steve (Mary) Dyer of Garden City, Mark (Karen) Dyer of South Lyon; three brothers; one sister; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robson was born May 21, 1914 in Boston, England and died Oct. 21 in Canton. He worked in the automotive industry in the office.

Services for Evelyn Bailey, 79, of Ann Arbor (formerly of Plymouth) were held Oct. 24 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Cooley officiating.
Mrs. Bailey was born Feb. 8, 1923 in Conway Springs, Kan., and died Oct. 21 in Ann Arbor. She was a homemaker. She came to the Ann Arbor community in 1983 from Pueblo, Colo., she was formerly of Plymouth. She was a member of the West Side United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Bailey; and son, David D. Bailey.

Allan W. Price
Services for Allan Price, 57, of Plymouth were held Oct. 24 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. Doc Ortman officiating. Burial was at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
Mr. Price was born March 31, 1945 in Detroit and died Oct. 19 at Henry Ford Hospital. A 25-year resident of Plymouth, he previously lived in Garden City, Dearborn and Detroit. He retired after working for 35 years at General Motors.
He was a UAW member and also participated in the Volunteer Fire Brigade at General Motors. He received several perfect attendance awards during his career. Mr. Price had many interests, and had attended many continuing education classes, including auto body repair, computer classes and the Dale Carnegie course. He had an interest in antique and classic cars, and loved listening to Motown and Oldies music, and enjoyed working on projects at home. Along with attending his own sons' basketball games, he loved playing darts, softball and golf. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel for 25 years.
Survivors include wife, Marlene of Plymouth; son, Timothy A. Price of Livonia; son, Brian A. Price of Plymouth; brother, Melvin Price of Florida; sister, Jean Way of British Columbia, Canada; sister, Virginia Marrs of Florida; brother, Ronald Price of Florida; sister, Evelyn Logsdon of Plymouth; and brother, Philip Price of Florida.

Mrs. Huffmaster was born Aug. 7, 1911 in Duel, Mich. and died Oct. 22 in Westland. She was a retired salesperson at Federal's Department Store in Livonia. She came to the Westland community in 1998 from Canton. She was a member of Prayer Baptist Church in Westland. She also was a member of the Zester's Senior Group in Canton. She was a good Christian woman. She loved arts and crafts. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister.
Mrs. Huffmaster was preceded in death by her husband, George; brother, Paul Mieske; sister, Freda Adams; and sister, Martha Schmidt.

Mr. Erwin was born Dec. 28, 1913 in Jackson, Ohio and died Oct. 19 in Superior Township. He worked in research/administration for Parke-Davis before retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
