John E. McDevitt Jr.

Services for John E. McDevitt Jr., 76, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 14 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington with burial following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Mr. McDevitt died Nov. 10, 2002. He was the former president fo E.J. McDevitt Company (McDevitt's Hallmark) and a long time dealer/member of the National Church Goods Association.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen Corbett, John Michael, Susan (Paul) Heneks, Patrick (Bonnie) and Paul (Brenda); siblings, Mary Reid, Dr. Frank McDevitt, Betty (Ollie) Boss, Richard (Lea) McDevitt and Sister Mary "Nancy" McDevitt I.H.M.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and 35 nieces and nephews.

Otto A. Aporius

Services for Otto Albert Aporius, 89, of Farmington Hills, will be held today, Nov. 14 at Glen Eden Memorial Park Chapel in Livonia with the Rev. Chris Kramer officiating.

Mr. Aporius was born March 3, 1913 in Germany and died Nov. 12, 2002 at St. Mary Hospital in Livonia. He worked as a tool and die maker until his retirment in 1965.

He is survived by his son, Heinz; granddaughter, Heidi Talke; and grandson, Tim Talke. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elli.

Angeline Siatkowski

Services for Angeline Siatkowski, 86, of Highland were held Nov. 16 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Fred Kalej officiating. Burial followed at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.

Mrs. Siatkowski was born Nov. 30, 1915, in Detroit and died Nov. 14, 2002, at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital in Commerce. She worked on the housekeeping staff at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills.

She is survived by her son, James; daughters, Patricia Mahon and Darlene Meagher; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward.

Richard F. VanMeter

Services and burial for Richard Frank VanMeter, 77, of Farmington Hills were held Nov. 15 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Chapel in Southfield with the Rev. Jim Wright officiating.

Mr. VanMeter was born June 25, 1925, in Detroit and died Nov. 13, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center in Livonia. He worked for Wolverine Tube Co.

He is survived by his brothers, Howard (Theresa) and Donald; and sister, Mary Jane Bawal.

Margaret A. Longworth

Services for Margaret Ann Longworth, 94, of Farmington were held Nov. 15 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington with the Rev. Ronald Browne officiating. Burial followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Mrs. Longworth was born Sept. 21, 1908, in Barry, Ontario, Canada, and died Nov. 12, 2002, in Farmington. She worked as a salesperson for Sears and enjoyed watching Lions football, golfing and her family.

She is survived by her sons Robert and Michael; grandchildren Paul, Mark, Peter, Julie, Jessica, Shannon and Michelle; and great-grandchildren Shelby, Forrest, Hunter and Kevin. She was preceded in death by her husband, John.

Florence I. Arnold

Services for Florence I. Arnold, 85, of Farmington, were held Oct. 28 at R.G. & G.R. Funeral Home in Livonia with the Rev. William Hale officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit.

Mrs. Arnold was born Sept. 25, 1917 in Canada and died Oct. 24, 2002 at Bloomfield Orchard Villa in West Bloomfield. She was a dog groomer. She was also a member and Sunday School teacher at the Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Arnold enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, ceramics, cooking and sewing.

She is survived by her children, Fred (Doris) Arnold, Janet (Paul) Sollenburger, Mary (Layford) Wilson, Karen Morrison, Pamela Little and Christine (Elhannen) Stacy; brother, Paul (Faye) Pritchard; and 47 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Charles F. Makowsky

Charles F. Makowsky, 82, of Farmington, died Nov. 19, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills.

Mr. Makowsky was born Sept. 7, 1920 in Duluth, Minn. He worked as a test driver for the auto industry.

He is survived by his wife, Vera; sons, Charles (Lillian), James (Sharon) and Robert Watson; daughters, Patricia Clep, Laurie (Steve) Biegel and Barbara Watson; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son-in-law, James Clep.

Victoria Kerezsi

Services for Victoria Kerezsi, 83, of Farmington Hills, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 21, at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Ronald Kovel officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit.

Mrs. Kerezsi was born April 11, 1919 in Detroit and died Nov. 18, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington. She was a seamstress and enjoyed cooking and cats. She sang professionally with her sisters, in a musical group called the Francu Sisters.

She is survived by her son, John (Elsie); daughter, Karen (John) Martin; sisters, Elvira Serb and Mary Pescari; and grandchildren, Brian and John. She is preceded in death by her husband, John.

John P. Lapham

Services for John Patrick Lapham, 61, of Farmington Hills, were held Nov. 20 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Loren O'Dea officiating.

Mr. Lapham was born July 19, 1941 in Pontiac and died Nov. 15, 2002 in Farmington Hills. He worked as an Innkeeper for Holiday Inn and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He also worked for Marathon Oil, Clark, Royal Oak Bowl and enjoyed golf, bowling and sports.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; nieces and nephews, Matt, Colleen, Andrew, Melissa, Kati and Ben; and brother, Harry (Joyce Kelly). He is preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle.

Edward S. Glasson

Services for Edward S. Glasson, 82, of Farmington Hills, were held Nov. 18 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills with the Rev. Thomas Lange officiating. Burial followed at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.

Mr. Glasson was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Highland Park and died Nov. 14, 2002 at Botsford Continuing Care Center in Farmington Hills. He worked as a tool and die maker for Ford Motor Company and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his son, Richard (Debbie); daughter, Beverly (Sam) Sciberras; grandchildren, Debra Lurins and Marianne Reed; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Austin and Lindsay. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gordon and sister, Eleanor.

Charlotte Jung Moy

Services for Charlotte Jung Moy, 83 of Ferndale, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 21 at Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home in Berkley with the Rev. Wayne Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Detroit.

Mrs. Moy was born Sept. 4, 1919 in Carson City, Nev. and died Nov. 16, 2002 at Farmington Hills Inn. She owned Moy's House of Oriental Specialty, which operated stores at Westland and Northland Malls. She also taught sewing for the Detroit Public Schools Adult Education Program and was an official interpreter for the U.S. Immigration Service. She enjoyed the annual rummage sale at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church where she worked with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Dick; children, Dick Jr. (Sim), Adelia Soo and Gregory; grandchildren, Brian, Jadeen, Tiffany, and Jeremy; and brother, Sam Jung. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Sze and Filena Lee and daughter-in-law, Nancy Moy.

Arthur H. Sercombe

Arthur Hiett Sercombe, 80, of Royal Oak, died Nov. 20, 2002 at Hospice Home in Farmington Hills.

Mr. Sercombe was born June 26, 1922 in Detroit. He worked as an architect for the City of Detroit Planning Department.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Paul (Patty); and daughter, Sarah.

Mrs. Kacin was born March 13, 1921 in Detroit and died Nov. 21, 2002 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills. She was a homemaker and lifetime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; son, James (Cynthia); daughter-in-law Charity; and grandchildren, Joseph III, Russell and Carey. She is preceded in death by her son Joseph and sister, Helen Georgeas.

Walter R. Gazda

Services for Walter R. Gazda, 82, of Redford, were held Nov. 27 at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Redford with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.

Mr. Gazda was born Jan. 22, 1920 in Holyoke, Mass. and died Nov. 23, 2002 at Heartland-Dorvin Nursing Home in Livonia. He worked as a truck driver for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 1976 and was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Church in Redford.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; daughter, Sue (John) Buck; grandchildren, John Jr. and Anni; and brother, Stanley (Eleanor).

Hannelore Ronayne

She is survived by step-children, Susan Helmkamp, Louis Jr. (Deborah), Chris (Theresa), Mark and Jeff (Mary); 14 step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis.

Corrine W. Saunders

Services for Corrine W. Saunders, 89, of Howell, were held Nov. 25 at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. Charles Jacobs officiating. Burial followed at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.

Mrs. Saunders was born May 29, 1913 in Detroit and died Nov. 22, 2002 at Alterra Nursing Home in Farmington Hills. She worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Howell.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Diane) and John (Nancy); daughter, Marilyn (Jerry) Davis; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold.

Edith Buck

Services for Edith Buck, 94, of Livonia, were held at St. Gerald Catholic Church in Farmington with the Rev. Gerald McEnhill officiating. Burial followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Mrs. Buck was born Jan. 1, 1908 in Detroit and died Nov. 22, 2002 at Marywood Nursing Home in Livonia. She worked as a supervisor for the Detroit Shopping News and was a former member of St. Gerald Catholic in Farmington.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Seger; sons, William (Janice) and James (Sandi); brother-in-law, Harvey Buck; grandchildren, William Jr., Michael, Joseph, Allison, Raymond, Lisa, Geri, Ralph, Raymond John, Ronald and Ken; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond.

Arthur H. Sercombe

Arthur H. Sercombe, 80, died Nov. 20, 2002 at Hospice Home of Farmington Hills.

Mr. Sercombe was born June 28, 1922 in Detroit. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and served with the 451st Bomber Squadron as a navigator. After the war, Mr. Sercombe graduated from the University of Michigan in 1948 with a degree in architecture. He worked for the City of Detroit Planning Commission until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the DIA Founders Society, the Michigan Nature Association, the Sierra Club, the American Youth Hostels, the Michigan Audubon Society, the Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers, and Birmingham Central Kiwanis.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; son, Paul (Patty); and daughter, Sarah.

Dortch McInally

Services for Dortch "Dot" McInally, 82, Brighton, were held Nov. 27 at Herrmann Funeral Home in Brighton with burial at Riddle Cemetery.

Mrs. McInally was born Dec. 20, 1919 in Haydenburg, Tenn. and died Nov. 24, 2002 in Brighton. She taught for Farmington Public Schools and was a member of the MEA - Teachers Union.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Dennis) Wilcox; granddaughter, Sarah Wilcox; and sister Fay Mankin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane.

Gladys L. Bassett

Mrs. Bassett was born June 4, 1919 in Detroit and died Nov. 25, 2002 at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn.

She is survived by her sons, Charles, William (Nickey) and David (Barbara); and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy G. Janisse

Services for Dorothy Gertrude Janisse, 66, of Novi, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2 at St. Priscilla Church in Livonia with the Rev. Kevin O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.

Mrs. Janisse was born Dec. 5, 1935 in Livonia and died Nov. 25, 2002 in Novi. She worked for the City of Livonia and was a member of St. Priscilla Church in Livonia.

She is survived by her husband, Frederick; sons, Gary (Carolyn) and Anthony (Jill); daughters, Lisa (Gary) Abundis and Angela Janisse; sister, Mabel Jones; brothers, Ralph, Norman and Robert Derrick; and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Peter and Eugene Derrick and sister, Grace Anderson.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; sons, Michael (Jane) and Kenneth (Lori); daughter, Cathy (William) Schultz; brother, Jerry; grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Patrick, Matthew and Andrew; and great-grandchild, Tori.
