Arthur M. Wendt Jr
Services for Arhtur Wendt Jr., 69, of Livonia were today, Nov. 14, in Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, with burial at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.
Mr. Wendt was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Detroit, and died Nov. 10, 2002, in Commerce Township. He was a long-time resident of Livonia.
He worked as an automobile salesman in Metro Detroit, including many years for Jack Demmer Lincoln Mercury in Dearborn.
Mr. Wendt served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of The Friends of MacKenzie High School in Detroit. He was a long-time amateur baseball player, Class A, in the Detroit area. He played five years with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a pitcher.
Surviving are his children, Arthur Wendt III of Northville, MaryJo (James) Landon of Harrison Township, Gregory (Kathryn) Wendt of Glenn Ellyn, Ill., Ronald Wendt of Clinton Township and Christopher "C.J." (Lori) Wendt of Highland; brother, Charles (Geraldine) Wendt of Livonia; and five grandchildren, Adam, Alaina, Brian, Gordon and Alison.

Casimer J. Daksiewicz
Services for Casimer Daksiewicz, 85, of Livonia were today, Nov. 14, in St. Maurice Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. Sidney Eckert.
Mr. Daksiewicz was born March 3, 1917, in Detroit, and died Nov. 12, 2002, in Livonia. He was a machinist.
Surviving are his wife, Stephania; sons, Anthony (Judy) Daksiewicz and Daniel (Candice) Daksiewicz; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John "Jack" Atkinson
Services for John "Jack" Atkinson, 75, of Livonia will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, in Livonia, with burial at Glen Eden Memorial Park. His body will lie in state 10 a.m. until time of service. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 7, in Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia.
Mr. Atkinson died Nov. 4, 2002.
Surviving are his children, Lynn (John) Kachalla, Leigh Perkins, David (Tamara) and Nan (David) Frye; sister, Iris Gay; and 11 grandchildren, Ryan, J.J., Stacey, Jennifer, Brandon, Heather, Kelli, Kyle, Dylan, Autumn and Randi.
Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey.

Olga P. Kukla

Anna Gove
Services for Anna Gove, 81, of Livonia were Nov. 4 in St. Kenneth Catholic Church, with burial at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights. Officiating was the Rev. Joseph Mallia.
Mrs. Gove was born Dec. 7, 1920, in Malta, and died Nov. 1, 2002, in Westland. She was a homemaker. She came to the United States in 1951 and settled in the Detroit (Corktown) area. She enjoyed her work with the Riverside Park Church of God Day Care. She was a member of the Latenio Seniors Out-Reach Group in Detroit. Mrs. Gove loved to cook Maltese food and listen to big-band music.
Surviving are her children, Joseph Gove of Detroit, Helen (William) Chenevert of Livonia, Doris Gove of Detroit and Thomas (Veronica) Gove of Plymouth; brother, Edward James of Dearborn Heights; six grandchildren, Claudia, Philip, Susan, Julie, Matthew and Hannah; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jillian, Ella and Olivia.

Florian John Rusin

Mr. Rusin was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Detroit, and died Nov. 3, 2002, in Southfield. He was a repairman.
Surviving are his nephew, Richard Tabaczynski of Livonia; and step children, Paul Kozub, Marie Garavaglia, Ron Kozub, Tim Kozub and Robert Kozub.

Helen Namy
A Celebration of Life service for Helen Namy, 93, of South Starksboro, Vt. will be Friday, Nov. 8, in Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol, Vt. Burial will be at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
Mrs. Namy was born Nov. 14, 1908, in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, and died Nov. 3, 2002, at her home in South Starksboro, Vt.. She lived in Pennsylvania and Illinois until the 1970's when she returned to Michigan, where she owned and operated Bashor's Boutique, a candy and gift store. In 1999, she moved to Vermont to be closer to some of her family.
Surviving are her brother, Charles Bashor; sister, Margaret Berg; granddaughters, Cherrie Namy and John Dickason, and Linda (Bill) Namy-Miller; many great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, Alaina and Leyla Namy Dickason, Graham Namy Broadbelt, Sarah Namy Lawton, Sam Namy Lawton, Jake, Ben, Kristin, Erin and Tim Miller. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Sally. There are family members who reside in Livonia, Redford and Westland.

Raymond J. Filar
Visitation with the family of former Livonia resident Raymond Filar, 64, of Brevard, N.C. will be 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Southfield.
Mr. Filar died Sept. 22, 2002, in Brevard.
He was a graduate of Southfield High School and Michigan Technological University, where he received a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.
He spent his career working in the automotive industry, retiring from Daimler Chrysler in 2000.
He was a member of numerous professional organizations including ASM and SAE, of which he was Detroit Chapter president in the 1970s.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; children, Tracey and Adam; mother; brother; and grandchildren. Family members reside in Southfield, Plymouth, West Bloomfield and Auburn Hills.

Jack Allen Konkel

Mr. Konkel was born May 11, 1927, in Southfield, and died Oct. 25, 2002, in Farmington Hills. He was a carpenter employed with Clafton & Keating General Contractors, retiring in 1986 after 15 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Follmer of Novi, Penny (John) Ping of Farmington Hills, Patricia (Jerry) Norton of Howell and Lisa Gendron of Howell; eight grandchildren, Lauren and Parker Follmer, Jodi, Tracie and Anna Ping, Shawn Brach, and Paul and Andrea Gendron; and three great-grandchildren, Justin and Conor Brach, and Nathan Gendron. His cousin, Frank (Carol) Konkel, and friend, Mary Jardine, also survive him.

Lillian Bamford

Mrs. Bamford was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Detroit, and died Oct. 28, 2002, in Westland. She was a supervisor at Crowley's Department Store, Livonia Mall 1964-1980. She lived in this community many years.

Marion Katherine Van Camp
A memorial service for former Livonia resident Marion Van Camp, 85, of Arizona was held Oct. 18 in Phoenix.
Mrs. Van Camp was born May 5, 1917, and died Oct. 14, 2002.
She worked for Livonia Public School for 27 years. She volunteered in many activities in the communities where she lived. She received letters of commendation and was honored with many awards including being selected as the State of Arizona Volunteer of the Year 2001 and Volunteer of the Year for Maricopa County 2001.
Surviving are her children, Judith (James) Martin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Karen (Johnnie) Cook of South Lyon, Mich., Leon (Suyzanne) Van Camp of Las Vegas, Nev. and Dorene (David) Blatchford-Bailey of Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Van Camp was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, and son, Albert.

She was a dog groomer and a member of Assembly of God Church and a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, ceramics and cooking, and was also a seamstress.
