Shirley J. Cazan

Services for Shirley J. Cazan, 74, of Redford, were held Dec. 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, with the Bishop Brett Ellsworth officiating. Burial followed at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.

Mrs. Cazan was born July 23, 1928 in Detroit and died Dec. 13, 2002 at Providence Hospital in Southfield. She was a member of the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Dennis (Nancy), Keith (Pam) and Paul (Teri); daughters, Christine (Jerry) Gibson and Johanna (James) Hernandez; sister, Evelyn (Edward) Rozema; brothers, Doug (Mary Jane) Bohrer and John (Rita) Bohrer; stepbrother, Ronald Crozier; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.

Arrangements made by Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in Farmington.

Robert Bowen Teachout

Private services for Robert Teachout, 72, of Redford Township were held recently. Burial was at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.

Mr. Teachout was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Detroit, and died Dec. 8, 2002, in Ann Arbor.

He is survived by his daughter, Lee (Gerald) Cox.

Mr. Teachout was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry and Esther.

Arrangements were made by Fisher Funeral Home.

Margaret Ann Byerle

A funeral Mass for former Redford Township resident Margaret Byerle, 80, of Novi was Dec. 11 in St. Valentine Catholic Church in Redford Township, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. Thomas A. Belczak.

Arrangements were made by Fisher Funeral Home.

Elsa M. Provenzale

Services for Elsa Provenzale, 79, of Redford were Dec. 10 in Harry J. Will Funeral Home, with entombment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens in Livonia.

Mrs. Provenzale died Dec. 7, 2002.

Surviving are her children, Robert (Susan) Cieslak, Johnnie (Diana) Cieslak and Anna (Jim) Konarski; sister, Alba of Rome, Italy; grandchildren, Christina, Shelly, Carrie, Michael, Sarah, Delaney, Shannon and Matthew; and great-granddaughter, Kayla.

Marie Elaine Caswell

Services for Marie Caswell, 61, of Redford Township were Dec. 9 in Fred Wood Funeral Home, with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.

Mrs. Caswell was born in Detroit, and died Dec. 5, 2002, in Farmington Hills. She was a retail clerk at a department store.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, John; son, J.D. (Tanya); daughters, Sandy (Ed) Velasco and Jamie (Hal) Slatin; brothers, Burton David (Joyce) Pape and Tom (Ann) Pape; and nine grandchildren.

Frank Zaremski

A funeral Mass for Frank Zaremski, 79, of Redford was Dec. 5 in St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Officiating was the Rev. Dennis.

Mr. Zaremski was born July 14, 1923, in Plains, Pa., and died Dec. 2, 2002, in Garden City.

Surviving are his wife, Lydia; children, Gerald, Dale, John, and the late Thomas and Karen Marie; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Genisa.

Arrangements were made by Leonard A. Turowski & Son Funeral Home.

William Robinson Mudie

Services for William Mudie, 75, of Redford Township were Dec. 6 in St. Agatha Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. James Livingston.

Mr. Mudie was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Detroit, and died Dec. 3, 2002, in Farmington Hills. He was an electrical engineer. He lived in this community many years and was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Irmgard; children, Renée (Jim) Polidan, Michelle (Todd) McLeay, Marian (Jim) Pujdowski and Matthew (Dawn) Mudie; and two grandchildren, Ian and Colin.

Arrangements were made by Charles R. Step Funeral Home.

Reuben Clarence Remillard

Services for Reuben Remillard, 84, of Redford Township were Dec. 5 in Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. J.J. Mech.

Mr. Remillard was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Marquette, Mich., and died Dec. 2, 2002, in Farmington Hills. He was a courier. He lived in this community many years, and was a member of Our Lady Of Loretto Catholic Church.

Surviving are his children, Bruce (Shirley) and Therese (Chris) Baron; siblings, Robert and Myrtle Yerke; and friend, Adeline Elbode.

Arrangements were made by Charles R. Step Funeral Home.

Bueford Carl Davidson

Services for Bueford Davidson, 79, of Redford Township were Dec. 6 in Fisher Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Thomas Eggebeen of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Livonia.

Mr. Davidson was born June 3, 1923, in Paris, Ill., and died Dec. 3, 2002, in Garden City. He was a retired carpenter. He served in the United States Army in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Grace; children, Donna (Murray) Jordon, Gary (Susan), Becky Hopkins and David (Arlene); siblings, James Davidson, Thelma Davis and Vicki Stillman; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Mildred Gough

Services for Mildred "Millie" Gough of Redford Township were Dec. 2 in Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Redford, with burial at Grand Lawn Cemetery. Officiating were the Rev. Robert Goudie and Rev. Diane Goudie.

Mrs. Gough died Nov. 27, 2002, in Garden City. She lived in Redford Township since 1970.

Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen (Neale) Hoener, Nancy Gough and Mary (Robert) Lavine; brother, James Mawson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gough was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick in 1994.

Memorial tributes may be made to American Cancer Society or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were made by Fisher Funeral Home.

Geraldine Heintz

Services for Geraldine Heintz, 79, of Redford Township are 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 5, in Fisher Funeral Home, 24501 Five Mile Road in Redford Township, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.

Officiating will be the Rev. Stephen T. Baker from Covenant Community Church. Visitiation is 2-8 p.m. today.

Mrs. Heintz was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Detroit, and died Dec. 2, 2002, in Livonia.

Surviving are her children, Henry (Chris), David (Laura) and Mark (Victoria) Heintz; and five grandchildren, Amy, David Jr., Dana, Joseph and Andrew Edward Henry Heintz.

Memorial tributes may be made to American Heart Association.

Elsie Russell

Services for Elsie Russell, 93, of Livonia will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth Township, with the Rev. Joseph Mallia officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Neely-Turowski Funeral Home in Livonia. She died Saturday, Nov. 30, at Providence Hospital in Southfield.

Mrs. Russell was born July 12, 1909, in Germany and came to the United States at the age of 12. She lived in the Detroit area before moving to California when her husband, Walter, retired in 1965. She worked in industrial sewing for the automotive industry and in aircraft parts assembly.

Mrs. Russell enjoyed reading, baking, gardening and watching "Wheel of Fortune."

Over the years, summer visits to Michigan found Mrs. Russell working the Farhat family garden plot at Greenmead's community gardens, traveling Up North and spending time with an ever-expanding crowd of great-grandchildren. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her 11th great-grandchild in February.

Mrs. Russell returned to Livonia in September to live with her daughter, Betty Farhat, and enjoy time with her Michigan family.

During the past two months, she visited a casino with the Livonia Travel Club, attended Livonia Questers and Historical Society activities, saw Mandy Patinkin in concert while visiting her great-granddaughter at Michigan State University, traveled Up North to her grandson's cottage and volunteered at Seedlings Braille Books for Children. Watching her happily rake the fall leaves in her daughter's yard, one could hardly tell she was 93.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her brother, Albert, and sisters, Linda and Amanda.

Survivors include her children, Betty Farhat, Robert (Shirley) Russell and Barbara Watts, sister Faye Hewitt, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Seedlings Braille Books for Children in Livonia.

Kenneth Arden Bateman

A memorial service for Kenneth Bateman, 87, of Birmingham was Nov. 25 in William Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, Royal Oak.

Mr. Bateman was born July 9, 1915, in Denton, Texas, and died Nov. 22, 2002, in Royal Oak.

He was retired form Livonia Public School system where he was principal at Tyler School 1959-1981. He worked in Washington D.C. with the U.S. Education Office, Division of International Education, as senior specialist in International Education 1951-1955. He worked at Wayne State University assigned to Department of Elementary Education and Educational Sociology.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; children, Keith (Susan) Bateman of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Kim (Frances) Bateman of Huntington Woods; and four grandchildren, Karl, Virginia, Leigh and Carrie (Greg) Palmer.

Mr. Bateman was preceded in death by his brother, Murrell Bateman.

Patricia M. Smith

Private services for Patricia Smith of Livonia were held recently.

Mrs. Smith died Nov. 28, 2002.

Surviving are her husband, John; children, Gregory (Leah) Smith, Noreen Greenleaf and Steven Smith; siblings, Tom, Mike and Margaret Costello; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Ziomek Funeral Home.

Irene Nixon

A memorial service for former Livonia resident Irene "Winnie" Nixon, 93, of Crown Point, Ind. will be at noon on Sunday, Dec. 8, in Newburg Methodist Church, 36500 Ann Arbor Trail, Livonia.

Mrs. Nixon was born May 4, 1909, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and died Oct. 22, 2002. She was employed by R.L. Polk and Co., Detroit. She was the organist at Newburg Methodist Church, retiring in 1978 after 30 years.

Surviving are her son, David of Crown Point, Ind.; daughter, Carole Tompkins of Howell; grandchildren, Jeffrey Nixon of Cincinnati, Ohio, John Nixon of Cedar Lake, Ind., James (Jennifer) Nixon of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kimberley Brendel of Howell and Joseph Tompkins of Waterford; two great-grandchildren, Garrett Nixon and William (Adriene) Tompkins; and great-great-grandchild, Jacob Tompkins.

Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and sister, Elizabeth Minger.

Anna L. Zimmerman

A funeral Mass for Anna Zimmerman, 80, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in Assumption Grotto Church, 13770 Gratiot, Detroit. Her body will lie instate 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 5, in Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia. Burial will be Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Mich.

Mrs. Zimmerman died Dec. 2, 2002. She was a member of the Livonia Garden Club and the Legion of Mary Auxilary.

Surviving are her children, Larry (Sue), Janice (Kenneth) Krantz, Kay (Robert) Thomas and Brian (Susan); nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Many family members reside in the Livonia area.

Mrs. Zimmerman was preceded in death by her husband, Charles.
