William Preston Gillingham
Services for William Gillingham, 69, of Redford Township will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, in Charles R. Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly Road in Redford, with burial at Grand Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Gillingham was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Detroit, and died Oct. 31, 2002, in Farmington Hills. He lived in Redford Township since 1971. He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; brother, Donald Gillingham; and sisters, Audrey Fouch and Florence (Donald) Dragosits.
Jack F. Gaden
Memorial visitation for Jack Gaden, 85, of Redford will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Charles R. Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly Road in Redford.
Mr. Gaden died Oct. 16, 2002. He was a longtime Redford resident. He was a Veteran of World War II, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 6695 and the Redford Elks.
Mr. Gaden retired from Refrigeration Service Inc. (RSI) after 42 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Loraine; sons, C. Richard (Shiela), Jack (Patricia) and Gary; sister, Verna Schofield; grandchildren, Dawn (Ralph) Davila, Katherine, Charles Jr., Kevin, Andrew and Caitlyn; and two great-grandchildren, Christine and MacKenzie.
Memorial tributes may be made to Hospice of N.Y., and died Oct. 25, 2002, in Ann Arbor. She was a homemaker. She lived in this community many years.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Tom (Patti) Fitzpatrick, Terri (John) Dickey, JoAnn Fitzpatrick, Dennis (Ellen) Smith and Wendy Smith.
Charles E. Girard
A funeral Mass for former Redford Township resident Charles Girard, 92, of Farmington Hills was Oct. 16 in Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Officiating was the Rev. J.J. Mech.
Mr. Girard was born Oct. 22, 1910, in Montreal, Canada, and died Oct. 24, 2002, in Farmington Hills. He was a restaurant chef. He was a member of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church.
Surviving are his sons, Joseph (Linda) and Phillip (Joanne); daughter, Annette (Joseph) Eadeh; and seven grandchildren, Bradley Eadeh, Kevin, Steven, David, James, Jeffrey Girard and Stacey Donahue.
Arrangements were made by Charles R. Step Funeral Home.
Frances L. Engelhardt
Services for former Redford resident Frances Engelhardt, 80, of St. Clair Shores were Oct. 30 in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. William Lindholm.
Mrs. Engelhardt was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Detroit, and died Oct. 27, 2002, in St. Clair Shores.
She was a homemaker and she loved to play bridge and pinnocle, and to sing and whistle. Mrs. Engelhardt was a member of Teacup Chainers Square Dancing Club.
Surviving are her husband, George; children, Gary (Gail), Lynne (Larry) Haggart and Janice Bass; and two grandchildren, Kathy (Michael) Radtke and Alexander Haggart.

Elizabeth Dowden
A memorial service for Elizabeth Dowden, 62, of Livonia was Oct. 21 at R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Roy Forsyth.
Mrs. Dowden was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Clenchmorr, Tenn., and died Oct. 19, 2002, in Farmington Hills. She lived in the Livonia area 38 years. She was a private caregiver. She enjoyed gardening and was dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, John; children, William (Suzanne) Dowden of Redford and Kathy Stephens; parents, Stella and the late Rev. Link Phillips; brothers, Thomas Coy and Larry Phillips; sisters, Shena Sherrill and Imajean Nighbert; and six grandchildren, Timothy, David, Alexandria, Victor, Nicholas and Brooke.

Orval Dull
Former Livonia resident Orval "Mike" Dull, 81, of Elk Rapids died Oct. 20, 2002.
Mr. Dull was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Laverne, Okla.
He was a custodial engineer at Marshall Elementary School, Livonia, retiring in 1972. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of V.F.W. in Brooksville, Fla. Mr. Dull enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; son, Tim (Christina) Dull of Elk Rapids; daughters, Janice Dull of Redford and Pamela (Cary) DeLoye of Livonia; sister, Eunice Jones of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Michael Dull of Elk Rapids, and Ryan and Alan DeLoye of Livonia.
Mr. Dull was preceded in death by four brothers.
A memorial service will be at a later date.

Christy L. King
Services for Christy King, 43, of Redford were Oct. 19 at Crane Funeral Home, Romulus. Officiating was the Rev. Robert J. White from Grace Baptist Church.
Mrs. King was born Oct. 31, 1958, in Wayne and died Oct. 18, 2002, in Taylor. She was a 1976 graduate of Huron High School. She enjoyed many different sporting events.
Surviving are her husband, John; sons, John King and Jeff King, both of Redford; daughter, Rachel (Scott) Kosovac of Westland; mother, Martha Whitley of Gregory; sisters, Dawn (Ken) Lesondak of Redford, Sherry (David) Nola of Los Angeles, Barbara Whitley of Inkster and Peggy (David) Ford of Redford; and two grandchildren, Haley and Sidney Kosovac.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her father, William Whitley.
Irene T. Poremba
Services for Irene Poremba, 73, of Redford Township were Oct. 22 at Leonard A. Turowski & Son Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Roy Forsyth.
Mrs. Poremba was born March 14, 1929, in Detroit, and died Oct. 18, 2002, in Detroit. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her children, David (Kathleen), Mark, Marie (Mark) Brooks and John; eight grandchildren, Harold, Theresa, Joseph, Brian, Chelsea, Mark Jr., Jason and Brittany; and four great-grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Kyle and Samantha.
Michael J. Lemon
Services for Michael Joseph Lemon, 53, formerly of Redford, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Redford with burial at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be held 3-9 p.m. today, Oct. 17, at Charles R. Step Funeral Home in Redford.
Mr. Lemon was born May 27, 1949 and died Oct. 14, 2002 at Providence Hospital in Southfield. He worked for Chrysler for many years and enjoyed spending time with his children. He liked Harley-Davidson motorcycles and bowling.
He is survived by his son, Ben; daughter, Desiree; parents, Al and Evelyn; brothers, Jeff (Jackie), Steve (Becky), Dan (Debbie), Dave (Reenie) and Joe (Vera); sister, Lauri (Terry) Shaw; nieces, Marcella, Stephanie (John), Emily, Meaghan, Mallorie, Marmie and Molly; nephews, Terry, Jesse and Chris; and great-nephew, Brenden.
Larry Sheehan
A funeral Mass for Larry Sheehan, 70, of Northville will be 11 am., Friday, Oct. 18, in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, with burial at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 17, in Northrop-Sassaman Funeral Home, 19091 Northville Road (at Seven Mile), Northville and 10:30 a.m. until time of service Friday, Oct. 18, in the church. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Sheehan was born May 20, 1932, in Greenfield, Florida. He also founded Mother's Pizza in Plymouth. He was a retired Wayne County Jury Commissioner. He was the former owner of Sheehan's Hillside Lincoln Mercury in Pontiac.
Mr. Sheehan was a member of the Monaghan Knights of Columbus and Catholic Central High School Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Joan; children, Timothy Sheehan of Livonia, Thomas (Julie) Sheehan of Northville, Susan (Ken) Meeks of Franklin, Tenn., Pati (Richard) Thornton of Bloomfield Hills, Terrence (Mary) Sheehan of Jacksonville, Fla. and Daniel (Tina) Sheehan of Northville; sisters, Mary Barum of Northville and Joan (Joe) Hutton of Livonia; 12 grandchildren, Errin, Megan, Donovan, Patrick and Kaeleigh Sheehan, Nathaniel and Jonathan Thornton, Sarah (Nathan) Partain, Jesse, Joel, Bethany and Abigail Meeks; and nine nieces.

Dennis Ray Mathis
Services for Dennis Mathis, 66, of Livonia were Oct. 14 in Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, with burial at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth. Officiating was the Rev. Dewayne Walker.
Mr. Mathis was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Detroit, and died Oct. 11, 2002, in Livonia. He retired in 1997. He grew up in southern Texas, and died Oct. 9, 2002, in Livonia. She lived in Livonia since 1953.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; children, Carol (Hugh) Tupper, Vivian (Donald) Glowinski and Ronald (Cathy) Pearce; three sisters, Irene, Edina and Wilma; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Pearce was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Pearce (1987).

Getty Marie Lane
Getty Lane, 82, of Redford Township died Oct. 12, 2002, in Presbyterian Village of Redford Township.
Mrs. Lane was born June 12, 1920, in Akron, Oklahoma City, Okla., and died Oct. 14, 2002, in Farmington Hills.
She was employed for many years as an optician and was the first woman in Georgia, and son, James Jr.
Geraldine E. Hottum
Geraldine Hottum, 75, of Southfield died Oct. 7, 2002. She was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Detroit.
Surviving are her children, Billy Hottum, Gary (Teri) Hottum, Mickey (Pat) Hottum of Redford and Cindy (David) Mainland of Redford; siblings, Donald Buss, William Buss, Dolly Johnson and Judy Johnson; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements were entrusted to Fisher Funeral Home in Redford Township.
John D. True
Services for John True, 81, of Livonia were Oct. 12 in Manns-Ferguson Funeral Home.
Mr. True was born April 23, 1929, in Henryetta, Okla., and died Oct. 8, 2002.
Surviving are his wife, Julia; children, Laura Russell, David True, John True, Roxanne Ely and step-son, Dennis Scales; sister, Laura Cox; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Edwin F. Sarbinowski
Services for Edwin Sarbinowski, 84, of Livonia were Oct. 10 in St. Damian Catholic Church, with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Sarbinowski was born June 22, 1918, in Detroit, and died Oct. 7, 2002, in Livonia. He was a police officer and a member of Detroit Police Officers Association.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl; daughters, Dianne (Robert) Ziembowicz, Gail (John) Lemke and Judith (Richard) Robinson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Stella Rose Novack
Services for Stella Novack, 85, of Livonia were Oct. 10 in Fisher Funeral Home in Redford Township.
Mrs. Novack was born April 7, 1917, in Mt. Carmel, Pa., and died Oct. 7, 2002, in Livonia.
Surviving are her children, Thomas (Norma), James (Gloria) and Jean (Philip Sandberg) Novak; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Novack was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, and one grandson.
