Dorothy J. MacDonald
Services for Dorothy Jane MacDonald, 100, formerly of Farmington, were held Feb. 3 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton with the Rev. Ike Agunwa officiating. Burial followed at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Mrs. MacDonald was born Sept. 3, 1902 in Cascade, Iowa and died Jan. 30, 2003 in Brighton. She married George Macdonald on Dec. 6, 1930 and lived in Farmington until 1998. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton and the Farmington Neighbors Club. Prior to her retirement in 1967, she was employed as a bookkeeper with Montgomery Ward.
She is survived by her sons, John (Mary) and James (Sherrie); six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; one grandson and 10 brothers and sisters.

Sister Mary Thaddea Rivet
Services for Sister Mary Thaddea Rivet, 98, Sister of Mercy for 75 years, were held Feb. 5 at McCauley Center's Sacred Heart Chapel with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
She was born Margaret Elizabeth Rivet, the daughter of Charles and Emma Rivet on Feb. 6, 1904 in Escanaba, where she was baptized at St. Patrick's Church. She attended St. Mary's School in Bay City and did office work for a year before attending Bay County Normal. She taught school for two years before joining the Sisters of Mercy on Sept. 27, 1927 and made profession of perpetual vows on Aug. 15, 1933 at Mount Mercy Academy in Grand Rapids.
Sister Mary Thaddea earned a state life teaching certificate from Central Michigan University and bachelor and master of arts degrees from Notre Dame University. From 1930-1980, she taught in elementary schools in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Grand Haven, Traverse City, Saginaw, Cheboygan, Parnell, Pinconning, Bay City, Port Austin, Berkeley, Reese and Muskegon. She also taught for a year in Tucson, Ariz. After leaving the formal classroom, she spent several years tutoring students and in 1984 retired to a ministry of prayer at McAuley Center.
She is survived by two nieces; one nephew; and the members of her religious community.

Peter C. Fuoco
Services for Peter Carmine Fuoco, 60, of Mesa, Ariz., will be Monday, Feb. 3, at the Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mr. Fuoco died Jan. 29, 2003, at University Medical Center in Tucson after a brief illness.
Formerly of Westland and Novi, he was the longtime owner of A&F Water Heater and Spa Service in Troy. He retired in 1995.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing with his granddaughters, Samantha and Madeline, and watching sporting events. He was a retired member of the Michigan Multi-Lakes Conservation Association.
An advocate of organ donation, Mr. Fuoco received a heart transplant Dec. 17, 1995, at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, after his heart was stricken by a virus. In the seven years, he lived after his transplant, he moved to Arizona and worked tirelessly to mentor other transplant patients.
In 2000 and 2002, he competed in racquetball with partner Leo Levenson, during the U. S. Transplant Games at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Judith, former assistant treasurer for Suburban Communications Corporation, the parent company of the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers; a daughter, Christina of Mesa, Ariz. a former reporter for the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers; son, Tony (Christina) of Chandler, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Samantha and Madeline Fuoco; and sisters, Marianne Madonna, Kathy Wurn and Sylvia Demers.
He is preceded by his parents Antonia and Cosimo Fuoco; a, sister, Loretta Mounsey; and a brother, Charles.

Rev. Douglas K. Thompson
Services for the Rev. Douglas Thompson, 54, of Westland were held Jan. 31 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills with the Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial followed at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
Rev. Thompson was born May 24, 1948, in Toledo, Ohio, and died Jan. 28, 2003, in Livonia. He earned his BA from Michigan State University in 1973, and his Masters of Divinity at Ft. Wayne Lutheran Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Rev. Thompson was ordained June 26, 1977. He was Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, Mich.; Pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dearborn and then Senior Pastor; Pastor at Salem National Church in Westland; and most recently was Pastor Emeritus of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Farmington Hills.
Other positions include the Lutheran Layman's League and member of Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline; daughter, Heidi Fowler; and grandchildren, Katherine Fowler and John Fowler.

Paul J. Hagstrom

Richard B. Ruud
Services for Richard Brian Ruud, 66, of Farmington Hills, were held Jan. 21 at Hope Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills.
Mr. Ruud was born in St. Paul, Minn. and died Jan. 16, 2003. He worked in sales for the lawn care industry and the meat packing industry and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills and coached little league baseball for North Farmington and West Bloomfield. Mr. Ruud was a Civil War buff and enjoyed traveling.

William J. Felker

Mr. Felker was born May 14, 1956 in Detroit and died Jan. 14, 2003 in Farmington Hills. He worked as a pilot for Belgian Airlines/Carnival Cruises and previously Western Airlines. He was a member of the American Pilots Association and an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.

He was the owner of Bonen Drilling Company in Howell and a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Howell, St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans.

Arlene B. Curd

Mrs. Curd was born Oct. 1, 1922 in Canada and died Jan. 8, 2003 in Farmington. She was a homemaker and known by her close friends and family as the "Irish Queen."
She is survived by her husband, John "Uncle Jack"; sons, Michael (Carol), John (Susan) and Steven (Patricia); daughter, Patricia (John) Baligian; grandchildren, Michelle (Robert), Sean (Krysten), Elizabeth, Daniel, Andrew, Christopher, Alison, Brian and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Claire, Jack and Olivia; and sister Joyce Dobrick. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dulcie McKelvey.
