IVAN WALLACE MARRS
Former Garden City resident Ivan Marrs, 94, died May 26 at his home.
Mr. Marrs was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Tarkio, Mo. He lived in Garden City 21 years. He was a supervisor for Whitman & Barnes Tool Co. He donated money to build the original Garden City Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Emma; children, Charles, Ronald, Rusell and Mildred; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home.
SUSIE JOHNSON
Services for Susie Johnson, 81, of Garden City were June 5 in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. J.T. Milligan.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 15, 1920, in Napfor, Ky., and died June 2 in Livonia. She lived in this community 45 years.
Surviving are her son, James (Linda) William; three brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
DOYLE M. DICKINSON
Services for Doyle Dickinson, 79, of Garden City were June 5 in L.J. Griffin Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery. Officiating was Brother Gary Rollins from the Church of Christ.
Mr. Dickinson was born Sept. 27, 1922, in Little Rock, Ark., and died June 1 at his home in Garden City. He was a bulldozer operator for Wayne County.
Surviving are his son, Hoyle (Alice) Simmons; daughters, Lauren Dickinson, Lois (Jack) Burcham and Frances (Ken) Gullekson; one brother; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dickinson was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel.
MARK C. KARINEN SR.
Services for Mark Karinen Sr., 53, of Garden City were today, Thursday, June 6, in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Neil D. Cowling.
Mr. Karinen was born Sept. 14, 1948, in Detroit and died June 2 in Garden City. He was a machine repairman in the automotive industry.
Surviving are his wife, Linda; children, Mack (Sharon) Kollar and Shannon (Brian) Westphal; brothers, Edsel Jr. and Tracey; sisters, Bonnie Oila and Dale Cummings; and mother, Beverly Karinen.
KATHLEEN A. MILLAR
Services for former Garden City resident Kathleen Millar, 87, of Dearborn were May 28 in Henry Ford Village Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Arnold D'Achille of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Mrs. Millar was born Oct. 20, 1914, in Detroit and died May 23 in Dearborn. She was a homemaker. She resided in Garden City 1948-98. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Russell; children, David (Sandy) Millar of Pinckney, Alan (Nancy) Millar of Jenison, Ruth (Fred) Koloski of Atlanta, Ga., and Gary (Connie) Millar of Townsend, Tenn.; brother, William Walsh; sister, Wanda Lamb; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

ROBERT HARRIS
Services for Robert Harris, 69, of Garden City were May 22 in Vermeulen Funeral Home with burial at Adamsville Cemetery, Adamsville, Tenn. Officiating were the Rev. William G. Milligan and the Rev. Mark Frost.
Mr. Harris was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Adamsville, Tenn., and died May 21 in Westland. He was a welder, employed by General Motors.
Surviving are his children, Danny (Lorraine) Harris of Garden City, Tina (Paul) Dickhardt, Brenda Harris of Plymouth, Ronnie Harris of Lincoln Park and David (Nola) Harris of Nashville, Tenn.; siblings, Christine Simmons of Illinois, Lonnie Harris of Arizona, Peggy Slayton of Tennessee, Doug Harris of Illinois and Patricia Irwin of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ORA LEE SCHMITTOU
Services for Ora Schmittou, 91, of Garden City were May 15 in L.J. Griffin Funeral Home with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Harold R. McDonald from Fair Haven Baptist Church.
A homemaker, Mrs. Schmittou was born Aug. 4, 1910, in Dickson, Tenn., and died May 12, 2002, in Garden City.
Surviving are her children, P. Alfred (Ruth), Ernest and Helen Ridgway; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
RALPH A. DESJARDINS
Services for former Garden City resident Ralph DesJardins, 83, of Canton were May 14 in John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia. Officiating was the Rev. Donald Gregory from Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. DesJardins was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Detroit, and died May 10 in Farmington Hills. A truck driver, he lived in Garden City for 40 years before moving to Canton.
Surviving are his daughters, Ruth (Benjamin) Sanders of Arizona, Carol (Gary) Sewell of Canton, Alice (Donald) Bell of Westland and Linda (Jack) Chenault of Westland; brothers, Kenneth, Russell and Wilbur; sisters, Ruth and Grace; five grandchildren, Amy, Holly, Heidi, Melissa and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren.
FRANCES IRMA KIELTY
Services for Frances Kielty, 80, of Westland were May 11 in Vermeulen Funeral Home with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit. Officiating was the Rev. Leonard Partensky.
Miss Kielty was born May 6, 1922, in Detroit, and died May 8, in Livonia. A senior clerk at Ford Motor Company for 38 years, she lived in Westland for many years and was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
Miss Kielty was a 1941 graduate of Saint Gregory High School. She was a reading tutor for Michigan Literacy Program and received a merit award for the many hours she volunteered at St. Mary Hospital.
CLINT LEWIS
Services for Clint Lewis, 92, of Garden City were May 30 in R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Home with burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West. Officiating was the Rev. Jonathon Allen from Community Baptist Church.
Mr. Lewis was born Oct. 24, 1909, in Paris, Tenn., and died May 27 in Garden City. He was a carpenter, employed by the Carpenters Union. He was a member of Wayne Lodge No. 112 F. & A.M./Shriners.
Surviving are his children, Betty (Joseph) Signorelli, Helen (Ronald) Springsteen, Clint Jr. (Linda), Kay Lewis, Linda (Martin) Missig and James Lewis; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Mollie.
SHARON MCKEE
Services for Sharon McKee, 61, of Westland were May 30 in Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, Plymouth. Officiating was the Rev. Dan Perry.
Mrs. McKee was born Dec. 17, 1941, in Detroit and died May 26 in Wayne. She came to the Westland community in 1970 from Plymouth. She was a retired bank teller at Wayne Out-Teachers Credit Union. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur; children, Gary (Theresa) Strehl Jr. of Garden City and Christopher (Cynthia) Strehl of Commerce; parents, Dorothy and David Cell of Westland; brothers, Richard Cell of Houston, Texas, John Cell of Chicago, Ill., and David (Betty Ann) Cell II of Tampa, Fla.; and nine grandchildren, Trisha (Dave), Gary III, Andrea, James, Jessica, Christopher II, Jermey, Paige and Darine.
Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her daughter, Katrina.
