John William Fox Sr.

A funeral Mass for John Fox Sr., 62, of Livonia was today, Thursday, Jan. 16, in St. Aidan Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Mr. Fox died Jan. 13, 2003.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle (nee Ziemba); children, Danielle and John Fox Jr.; siblings, Thomas Fox Jr., Elizabeth (Richard) Hull, James (Marie) Fox, Kathleen (Gary) Pinkley, Jeanette (Peter) Boss, Alfred (Joann) Fox, Margaret (Richard) Vitale, Daniel Fox (O.F.M. Capuchin), William Fox, Robert (Anita) Fox and Ellen Fox; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fox was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Marsh and Ann Fox (George) McGrath.

Memorial tributes may be made to the Paul S. Ziemba Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory School or the Capuchin Monastery Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Harry J. Will Funeral Home.

Patrick E. Tausney

A funeral Mass for Patrick Tausney, 77, of Livonia was Jan. 7 in St. Genevieve Catholic Church.

Mr. Tausney was born May 6, 1925, in Scotland, and died Jan. 5, 2003, in Garden City. He was an electrician for the automotive industry.

Surviving are his wife, Winifred; sons, Colin and Brian (Jennifer); daughter, Maureen (James) McCracken; and grandchildren, Alison, Patrick, Christa and Ian.

Arrangements were made by L.J. Griffin Funeral Home.

Rita Louise D'Agostino

Services for Rita D'Agostino, 68, of Livonia were Jan. 8 in St. Aidan Church, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. Kasza.

Mrs. D'Agostino was born June 27, 1934, in Detroit, and died Jan. 4, 2003.

Surviving are her children, Francesca (Giovanni) Galati of Livonia and Dino (Karen) D'Agostino; sister, Angeline Divozzo; and grandsons, Giovanni Galati and Gino D'Agostino.

Mrs. D'Agostino was preceded in death by her husband, Dano.

Arrangements were made by Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, Farmington.

Janet K. Simmons

Services for Janet Simmons, 82, of Livonia were Jan. 7 in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville.

Mrs. Simmons died Jan. 3, 2003. She was a secretary at Livonia public schools and a member of St. Maurice Parish of Livonia.

Surviving are her children, Carol Simmons, Brian Simmons and Jim Simmons; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson; sister, Eileen Judd; and brothers, Bernard Mulvaney and James Mulvaney.

Arrangements were made by Dillingham-Liverance Niblack Funeral Home in Fowlerville.

Charles J. Martoia

Services for Charles Martoia, 73, of Dearborn Heights will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, in Our Lady of Grace Church, 23700 Joy Road, Dearborn Heights. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald Cyprys. Burial will be at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today, Jan. 9, in John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City. A Scripture service will be 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Martoia was born March 24, 1929, and died Jan. 6, 2003, in Dearborn Heights. He was a manager.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne; children, Dennis (Barbara), Alan (Sue), Chuck (Carol), Yvonne (Tom) Hughes, Sandy (Bruce) Henderson, Robert (Lynn) and Jeff (Karen); siblings, Jean Patterson, Ron Martoia, Bernetta Ratcliffe and Joseph Martoia; and 18 grandchildren.

There are family members who reside in Livonia.

Horace Westley Hillier

Services for Horace Hillier, 94, of Redford Township were Jan. 31 in Charles R. Step Funeral Home, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Officiating was the Rev. Leonard Partensky.

Mr. Hillier was born Feb. 27, 1908, in Kansas, and died Jan. 29, 2003, in Livonia. He was a painter. He lived in this community over 40 years.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; nieces, Denise Holloway and Carolyn Kirkwood; and great-nieces and nephews, Darlene, Deanne, Eric, Allison, Michael and Cheryl.

Peter G. McGeary

Services for Peter McGeary, 72, of Redford were Monday, Feb. 3, in St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

Officiating will be the Rev. Denis Theroux. Visitation is noon to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 2, in John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home, 1139 Inkster Road, Garden City. A Scripture service will be 7 p.m. this evening in the funeral home.

Mr. McGeary was born Jan. 25, 1931, in Detroit, and died Jan. 29, 2003, in Detroit. He was a journeyman mailer for the Free Press until the strike.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Frances; children, Terri (Tom) Schmidtke, Judy (Lindsay) Walker, Diane (Jamie) Walker, Cathy (Ron) Richard and Peter (Lisa) McGeary; siblings, Michael, Frank, Ann Carney, Margaret Brown and Sally Hillman; and grandchildren, Tommy, Lisa, Lindsay, Steven, Ryan, David, Ronnie, Michael, P.J. and Jordyn.

Memorial tributes may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Betty L. Algar

Services for Betty Algar, 79, of Redford were Feb. 2 in Charles R. Step Funeral Home, with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Bea Scotts.

Mrs. Algar was born March 29, 1923, in Detroit, and died Jan. 31, 2003, in Redford. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, William; children, James, Pamela (Andrew) Cobb, Susan Shields and Frank; sister, Helen Faraday; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Shields.

Mrs. Algar was preceded in death by her children, Barbara, John and Judy; and siblings, Richard and Kathleen Miller.

Anna Irene Sambrone

Services for former Redford Township resident Anna Sambrone, 74, of Farmington Hills were Feb. 2 in Northville Christian Assembly. Officiating was the Rev. Otis Buchan.

Mrs. Sambrone was born Oct. 9, 1928, in Plymouth and died Jan. 29, 2003, in Ann Arbor.

Surviving are her children, Andrew (Cathy) Sambrone, Sue (Ed) Stroud, Axie (Jim) Sheldon and Sharlene (Gary) Stout; brother, Paul Sambrone; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial tributes may be made to American Heart Association.

Arrangements were made by Fisher Funeral Home.

Donald Allen Mercer

Services for former Redford resident Donald Mercer, 76, of Farmington Hills were Feb. 5 in Thayer-Rock Funeral Home.

Mr. Mercer was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Detroit, and died Feb. 2, 2003, in Royal Oak. He lived in Redford 36 years before moving to Farmington Hills 13 years ago.

Mr. Mercer was a truck driver for Kroger 36 years, retiring in 1993. He was a former driver for Jefferson Trucking company & Excello Corp. He was a Union Steward for Teamsters Local No. 337. Mr. Mercer was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Marines.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Doris; sons, Robert of Farmington Hills, Dean (Sandra) Mercer of Michigan.

Tillie C. Pilszak

Servivces for Tillie Pilszak, 87, of Redford Township were Jan. 18 in Our Lady of Grace Church in Dearborn Heights, with burial at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights. Officiating was the Rev. Ronald Cyprys.

Mrs. Pilszak was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Great Barrington, Mass., and died Jan. 15, 2003, in Dearborn Heights, after a long battle with cancer.

She worked for 60 years as a beautician in her own shop "The Classic Beauty Shop" in the David Scott Building in Detroit. She retired at age 77. She never drove, but used the city buses. She was commended by the Detroit City Council at age 67 for 50 years of working in the city.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph; sisters, Jean Wozniacki and Christine Bykowski; granddaughters, Melanie (Ken) Graham and Linda (Paul) Klebba of Garden City; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Pilszak was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Morosky.

Memorial tributes may be made to the cancer fund of your choice.
