RUTH JEAN TERRANA
Services for former Livonia resident Ruth Terrana, 80, of Farmington were May 25 in Covenant Community Church in Redford Township, with burial at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi. Officiating was the Rev. H. Dalton Myers.
Mrs. Terrana was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Redford, and died May 22, 2002, in Livonia.
She was an active member of Covenant Community Church for more than 50 years.
Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Charles; children, Gloria (Jerry) Lewis, Lorranie (Gary) Zimmerman and Sandra (Donald) Mueller; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial tributes may be made to Angela Hospice in Livonia.
Arrangements were made by Fisher Funeral Home in Redford Township.

EDWARD FRANCIS GILMORE
Services for Edward Gilmore, 65, of Livonia will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, in Manns-Ferguson Funeral Home, 17000 Middlebelt Road, Livonia with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Gilmore was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Detroit, and died April 11, 2002.
Surviving are his wife, Cecile; son, Daren (Valerie); daughter, Diane (Kevin) Ray; siblings, Gloria Hartley, Jeri Agar and Robert; four grandchildren, Ashley, Steven, Rachael and Sean.
Memorial tributes may be made to Barbara Karmanos Cancer Institute.

LILA MARIE ELLIOTT
Services for former Livonia resident Lila Elliott, 83, of Brighton were April 12 in Herrmann Funeral Home with burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia. Officiating was the Rev. Gilson Miller from First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Elliott was born Nov. 17, 1918, in Edgemont, Ark., and died April 9, 2002, in Brighton. She was a 1937 graduate of Wallace Memorial High School in Lebanon, Mo. She lived in the Livonia area since 1942. She was a cafeteria manager with Livonia Public Schools, retiring in 1978 after 23 years of service.
After retiring, she and her husband, Earl, moved to their retirement home in Sterling, Mich. on the Rifle River. They lived there until his death in 1987. She then moved to Garden City until suffering a stroke in 1993. She has since been a resident of American House in Livonia, Woodhaven, Brighton and most recently Devonshire Manor.
Mrs. Elliott has always been creative and has enjoyed sewing for her family, gardening, cooking and nature.
Surviving are her daughters, Janice (Richard) Fernandez of Garden City, Sandra Hendricks of Brighton and Pamela Jo (Michael) Murphy of Brighton; brother, Robert McIntosh of California; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her husband, James.

RITA J. MACK
Services for Rita Mack, 66, of Plymouth were April 12 in St. Kenneth Catholic Church with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth. Officiating was the Rev. Joseph Mallia.
Mrs. Mack was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Kingston, Pa., and died April 8, 2002, in Livonia. She was a homemaker. She came to the Plymouth community in 1966 from Detroit. She was a member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Surviving are her children, Jim (Dawn) Mack of Westland, Larry Mack of Northville, Joan (Mike) Quigley of Plymouth, Lori (Rick) Blandford of Canton and Jeff (Maria) Mack of Westland; sisters, Carol (Brian) Fox of Livonia and Barbara (Richard) Gdowski of Taylor; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial tributes may be made to American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were made by Schrader-Howell Funeral Home.

LORETTA VIRGINIA HOLMES
Services for former Livonia resident Loretta Holmes, 70, of New Port Richey, Fla. were in Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home in New Port Richey, Fla. with burial at Trinity Cemetery, Trinity, Fla.
Mrs. Holmes was born June 23, 1931, in East St. Louis, Ill., and died March 27, 2002, in New Port Richey, Fla. She moved to Livonia, in 1934, and attended Clarenceville Schools. In 1963 she moved to Garden City, where she raised her family, returning to Livonia in 1980. She retired and moved to Florida in 1987.
Mrs. Holmes was a homemaker, active figure skater, a member of the Garden City Women's Synchronized swimming team, an accomplished oil painter and loved gardening. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garden City and also the First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, Fla.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Vernon; sons, Larry (Denise) Holmes of Redford Township and Allan Holmes of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughter, Vicky Parsley of Cleveland, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Holmes (1971), father, Ortwin Arndt (1980) and mother, Clara Arndt (1986).
Memorial tributes may be made to Children's Leukemia Society of Michigan.

MARSHALL S. MAHONEY
Services for Marshall Mahoney, 64, of Dearborn Heights were held May 9 at St. Thomas a'Becket Catholic Church with the Rev. C. Richard Kelly officiating. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Mr. Mahoney was born Aug. 8, 1937 in Detroit and died May 5 in Garden city. He was a design engineer for Ford Motor Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Mahoney; and sister-in-law, Mary Cullen.
Survivors include brothers-in-law, Michael Cullen and John Cullen; and sister-in-law Margaret Cullen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.

PAULA E. STOFER
Services for Paula Stofer, 56, of Southfield were held May 9 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington with burial at Southfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Stofer was born Oct. 1, 1945 in Detroit and died May 4 in Southfield. She was a resident of Southfield all her life. She was a professor of history/english at Lawrence Tech. University for more than 20 years. She was a graduate of Lawrence Tech and Oakland Universitys and received her Anthropology Doctorate at Michigan State University. She was on the Board of Trustees at Michigan Historical Society, District VII coordinator of Michigan History Day Program, LTU Alumni Association, numerous historical societies around the state, Civil War re-enactor. She enjoyed woodworking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Stofer.
Survivors include son, Jason (Victoria) of Southfield; daughter, Sara of Farmington; daughters of her heart, Meg Harkonen and Beth Kahn; nieces and nephews, Paul, Heather, Charity, Corrie, Jessie, Hillary, Shane, Kimberly, Katie, Emma, Natalie; mother, Helen Tennies of Charlevoix; brother, Dave Tennies of Canton; and sister, Mindy Albright of Farmington Hills.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ontonagon Historical Society, Northern Michigan University Archives, Historical Society of Michigan or LTU Library: Ronald Stofer Michigan Historical Collection.

GARY LEE BARNETT
Services for Gary Barnett, 61, of Canton were held June 3 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Adrianson officiating.
Mr. Barnett was born Oct. 11, 1940 in Linton, Ind. and died May 31 in Ann Arbor. He was a carpenter for 18 years. He was a building inspector in Canton from 1978 to 1991. He worked for the Public Works Department in Canton after retiring as the building inspector. He came to the Canton community in 1978 from Westland. He enjoyed restoring antique cars (mostly in the 1950s era). He enjoyed painting and cooking.
Survivors include wife, Marjorie Barnett of Canton; children, David (Lori) Barnett of Canton, Sheri White of White Lake, Kelly Crotteau of Lakeland, Fla., and Penny (Lloyd) Sanders of Canton; and seven grandchildren.
Arrangements made by Schrader-Howell Funeral Home.

WALTER C. MILLER
Services for Walter Miller, 83, of Canton were held June 4 at Calvary Baptist Church in Canton with the Rev. John Shinn officiating. Burial was at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.
Mr. Miller was born July 29, 1918 in Braddock, Pa. and died June 1 in Superior Township. He was a retired security guard for Cadillac Motor Car (General Motors).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Miller.
Survivors include daughters, Maggie (Dale) Reese of Plymouth and Carol (Tom) Andersen of Canton; brother, Woody Vogan; sisters, Lillian Parker and Gerri DeMeo; three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
