FRANCES M. MCKINNEY
Services for Frances McKinney, 69, of Plymouth will be held April 22 at the Livonia Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Paul Beer and Bishop Theodore Ratliff officiating. Burial will be at WashtenongokCemetery in Ann Arbor.
Mrs. McKinney was born June 23, 1932 in Detroit and died April 17 in Detroit. She was an assembler at the Ford Motor Company Sheldon Road plant in Plymouth. She retired after 29 years of service. She came to the Plymouth community in 1977 from Ypsilanti. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She also was a member of the U.A.W. Local 845. She loved to shop, visit with friends, and do geneology. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include children, Ruth (Warren) Ford of Onsted, Harold (Shelly) Richards of Onsted, Marcia (Bishop Theodore) Ratliff of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Lisa (Dave) Zanardelli of Allen Park, Maureen McKinney of Plymouth, and Martin (Lisa) McKinney of Berkley; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Huron Valley.

LOUIS L. KANKA
Services for Louis Kanka, 99, of Romulus were held April 11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with the Rev. Doc Ortman officiating. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Mr. Kanka was born Aug. 18, 1902 in Detroit and died April 8 in Romulus. He attended Stanislaus School in Detroit and was very proud of his Detroit heritage. He was a resident of Plymouth for 70 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel while residing in Plymouth and a member of the Knights of Columbus-Plymouth Council. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1919 to 1926, mostly in the Panama Canal Zone.
He retired from Unysis in 1968. He was also a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to participate in these adventures with his family. He was a self-taught man. He built his own home in Plymouth from the basement up. He was a very faithful man who lived his life in that manner every day.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice A. Kanka.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara (Paul) Denski of Belleville; daughter, Mary Elaine Kanka of Romulus; brother, Aloysius "Bud" (Eleanor) Kanka of Harper Woods; grandsons, Paul William Denski, Louis Denski, and Christopher William Voss; granddaughters, Suzanne Denski and Wendy Janine Voss; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital of Michigan City, Ind. and died April 15 in Superior Township. He was a machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include wife, Loreda Olweean of Ypsilanti; daughters, Deborah (Boyd) Harris of Ann Arbor, Lisa (Art) DeGroot of Canton, and Diane (Wayne) Westfield of Highland Township; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Thelma D. Berlin
Services for Thelma Berlin, 88, of Ann Arbor (formerly of Ypsilanti) were held April 13 at Faith Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti. Burial was at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
Mrs. Berlin was born June 24, 1913 in Huntington, Ind. and died April 9 in Superior Township. She worked for the Willow Run bomber plant during World War II, and retired from Concordia College food service in 1974. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Ypsilanti.
Mrs. Berlin was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Berlin; brothers, Wavel, John, Kenneth, Pete, Robert, Ted and Floyd Snyder; and one sister, Lucille Graham.
Survivors include sons, Harold Dean (Phyllis) Berlin of Ypsilanti, Edwin L. (Linda) Berlin of Canton; and Ron (Gail) Berlin of Dallas, Calif. and the Aleutian Islands. He loved woodworking.
Survivors include daughter, Marianne (Robert) Wieczorek of Plymouth; sons, Rev. Timothy J. Szott of Utica and Michael J. (Martha) Szott of Troy; grandchildren, Amy (Clint) Soldan of Troy, Emily Wieczorek of Plymouth, Mark Szott of Troy, and Jennifer Szott of Troy; and sister, Helen Ronewicz of Westland.
Memorial contributions may be made to St., Kenneth Catholic Church or Mass cards.

Mildred M. Schill
Services for Mildred Schill, 90, of Westland were held April 18 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with burial at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
Mrs. Schill was born Feb. 22, 1912 in Detroit and died April 14 in Superior Township. She worked as a clerk in the government field.
Survivors include daughter, Arlene (Joseph) McGarry; daughter, Kathy (Ron) Livingston; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the hospice of your choice or your favorite charity.

Richard R. Rinke, Jr.
Services for Richard Rinke, 76, of Canton were held April 17 at the Chapel of Flowers at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
Mr. Rinke was born June 3, 1925 in Detroit and died April 15 in Canton. He worked as a graphic artist for the Detroit Newspaper.
Survivors include wife, Sylvia; son, Richard R. (Marsha) Rinke III; and two grandchildren, Karl and Philip.

George Witkowski
A Memorial Mass for George Witkowski, 80, of Traverse City, will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Plymouth on April 19.
Mr. Witkowski was born Aug. 30, 1921 in Detroit and died April 14 in Traverse City. Formerly of Plymouth, he had been a resident of Traverse City since 1989. He graduated from Wayne County Community College and served in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman. He owned and operated the Plymouth Dental Lab from 1946-1962. During this time, he also was an elected supervisor on the Wane County Board of Supervisors.
Later he went on to be a cottage supervisor at the Wayne County Child Development Center, where he worked with developmentally disabled children. George was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, a former parishoner of Our Lady of Good Counsel of Plymouth, and was a parishoner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and dancing with his dear wife, Helen.
Mr. Witkowski was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; brothers, Mitchell, Alfred "Hank", Edward, and Casimer.
Survivors include son, George Witkowski II of Traverse City; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Vanderveer of Traverse City; sister, Delores (Harold) Michael of Livonia and Virginia Peters of South Lyon; several nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the George Witkowski Memorial Fund in care of his son, George II.

Eleanor Jane Andrews
Services for Eleanor Andrews, 85, of Livonia, were held April 18 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Towler, the Rev. Dana Runestad, the Rev. Robert Miller, and the Rev. Richard Iwick officiating. Burial was at Parkview Cemetery in Livonia.
Ms. Andrews was born Feb. 4, 1917 in Detroit and died April 15 in Livonia. She was a retired secretary for Barnes-Gibson-Raymond in Plymouth. She came to the Livonia community in 1954 from Detroit. She was a long-time member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Plymouth. She was a loving aunt and friend. She was a member of the Altar Guild at St. John's. She also was president of St. John's League. She was extremely dedicated to her church.
Survivors include nephew, Dennis (Sharon) Baldwin of Clare; niece, Julia (David) Katke of Kansas City, Kan.; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Livia) Baldwin of Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or the Salvation Army.
