James E. Taylor
Services for James Taylor, 90, of Canton were held Sept. 30 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Yarnell and Rev. Drex Morton officiating. Burial was at United Memorial Gardens in Superior Township.
Mr. Taylor was born Jan. 9, 1912 in Akron, Ohio and died Sept. 25 in Canton Township. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Taylor was an Army veteran from World War II who moved to Canton from Detroit in 1985. He had worked as a security officer for the City of Detroit. He was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Canton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene.
Survivors include son, Dana Gorzelski of Florida; step-son, Gordon (Patricia) Eddy of Plymouth; grandchildren, Michael Eddy of Farmington, Nancy Eddy of Houston, Texas, Scott (Sandy) Eddy of Brighton, Brook Eddy of Boulder, Colo., and Lola (David) Youngman of Raleigh, N.C.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Casmir Swastek
Services for Casmir Swastek, 77, of Canton, were held Oct. 1 at St. Thomas a'Becket Catholic Church with the Rev. C. Richard Kelly officiating. Burial was at St. Hedwig Cemetery.
Mr. Swastek was born Nov. 16, 1924 in Detroit and died Sept. 27 in Superior Township. He was a retired accountant from General Motors. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include wife, Dorothy Swastek; sons, David (Kathy) Swastek and Cas (Alice) Swastek; daughters, Mary Rose (Rob) Theis, Michelle Swastek and Anne (Andy) Seitz; sisters, Mary Kronk, Jean Duda, and Julie Miesiek; and 10 grandchildren.

Floyd L. Spaulding
Services for Floyd Spaulding, 85, of Plymouth were held Oct. 1 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeffrey Noble officiating. Burial was at Knollwood Cemetery in Canton.
Mr. Spaulding was born June 15, 1917 in Wayne, W.Va. and died Sept. 28 in Superior Township.
He was retired from General Motors Spring and Bumper Plant where he was a solution attendant. He came to the Plymouth community in 1955 from W est Virginia. He was a member and deacon at the Main Street Baptist Church of Plymouth. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to play pool with his grandchildren. He was an avid story teller and loved to garden. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.
Mr. Spaulding was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, and grandson, Kevin Spaulding.
Survivors include sons, Ray (Lottie) Spaulding of Livonia and Jay (Wanda) Spaulding of Troy; grandchildren, Ray (Jane) Spaulding of Livonia, Jamie (Mary) Spaulding of Troy, Tenn., Ron (Jamie) Spaulding of Canton, and David (Cheri) Spaulding of Troy, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Cayte, Jacob, Ethan, Waylon, Nathan, Cody, and Savannah; special niece, Jeri (Cary) Black of Canton; special great-nephews, Andrew and Greg Black; special friend, George Akers of South Fulton, Tenn.

Gilbert M. Wasalaski
Services for Gilbert Wasalaski, 71, of Plymouth, were held Sept. 30 at the Plymouth Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Fred Hall officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
Mr. Wasalaski was born Nov. 28, 1930 in Midland and died Sept. 27 in Superior Township. He was a carpenter.

Kenneth Dixon
Kenneth Dixon, 73, of Canton Township died Sept. 28 in Canton. He was born March 13, 1929 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a retired Human Resource Director for General Motors Corporation in Auburn Hills. He came to the Canton community in 1978 from Holbrook, N.Y. He loved the New York Yankees. His heart was always in N.Y. where he was born and raised. He was a loving father, brother and friend.
Survivors include sons, Neil Dixon (fiancee, Stacey) of Plymouth and Bryan Dixon of Canton; daughter, Carolyn Dixon of Canton; and brother, Buddy (Ronnie) Dixon of Elmont, N.Y.

William LaGoshphoto
Private services were held for William LaGosh, 87, of Plymouth, who was born April 25, 1915 in Detroit and died Sept. 29 in Westland.
Mr. LaGosh retired after 41 years of service as a civil engineer with the Wayne County Road Commission, Engineering Planning Department. He came to the Plymouth community in 1966 from Dearborn. He graduated from Lawrence Tech with a degree in civil engineering. He loved to garden, read and play golf. He served in the Army in World War II as a Master Sgt. in Luzon, the Philippine Islands, where he received a Bronze Star.
Mr. LaGosh was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Bryl.
Survivors include wife, Stephanie of Plymouth; grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Bryl Yardman and Emily Bryl; and several nieces and nephews.

George Andrews (photo)
Services for George Andrews, 75, of Plymouth were held Oct. 4 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Klump officiating.
Mr. Andrews was born Feb. 28, 1927 in Bitola, Yugoslavia and died Sept. 29 in Superior Township, after fighting a determined battle against leukemia.
Mr. Andrews was known for having a long and dedicated career in the fields of health care and fitness. Most recently he was instrumental in the development of TRACC (Total Rehabilitation and Athletic Conditioning) of Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills. He retired as director in 1994.
George Andrews' career spanned a broad range of experiences in the health industry, ranging from crisis management to wellness programming, including serving as Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation Center for the Geriatric Authority of Holyoke, Mass; establishing the curriculum of physical therapy at Wayne State University where he served as Director of Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Institute, Detroit; developing and initiating a cardiovascular conditioning program for General Motors' top corporate executives; as well as developing the program, Fitness After Fifty, at Schoolcraft Community College in Livonia.
He was actively committed to community and professional involvement, serving on many committees and chairing numerous professional societies, including the state and national chapters of the American Physical Therapy Association. Most recently he served on the boards of the Novi Chamber of Commerce and the Plymouth Housing Commission.
Mr. Andrews was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include wife, Elizabeth (Betty) of Plymouth; children, Laurie (Ken) Butman of Ypsilanti, Christine (John) Courtley of Franklin, Tenn., Janis (Bud) Burleson of Plymouth, and Greg (Jamie) Andrews of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Sophie Muirhead of Syracuse. Thomas Henry Millington, III
Services for Thomas Millington, 47, of Wayne, were held Oct. 3 at 1:30 at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. John Tapley officiating. Burial was at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.
Mr. Millington was born May 18, 1955 in Highland Park and died Sept. 29 in Ann Arbor. He was self-employed as a finish carpenter. He came to the Wayne community in 1992 from Redford. He loved to fish and hunt and woodworking was his hobby.
Mr. Millington was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Millington.
Survivors include wife, Donna Millington of Wayne; children, Alexus Millington of Wayne and Emily Millington of Wayne; brother, Robert (Mary) Millington of Charlevoix; sister, Kim (Steve) Kleckner of Iowa; mother and step-father, Charlotte Millington (Calvin) Perry of Plymouth; in-laws, Oscar (Ann) Lopez of Tenn.; and many friends and relatives.
