Driscoll, died of pneumonia. ========================================================= CHICAGOAN OF 'LOST BATTALION' BADLY WOUNDED. Lieut. Herbert F. Grobe Graduate of Fort Sheridan. A Chicago member of Maj. Charles W. Whittlesey's "Lost Battalion" -- the gallant band of Yankees which held out for five days and nights when cut off by the Germans in the heart of the Argonne forest and when asked to surrender told the enemy to "Go to hell" -- was reported in yesterday's casualty list as wounded severely. He is Lieut. Herbert F. Grobe of 761 Pine avenue. He was with Company F. Three Hundred and Eighth infantry. He was commissioned at the second officers' training camp at Fort Sheridan. He was formerly employed in the secretary's office of the Chicago and Northwestern railroad. A brother, Newton W. Grobe of the Three Hundred and Fourth cavalary machine gun company, is now home on furlough. Lieut. Archie M. Van Horn, whose name was recently carried in the Official casualty list as wounded, degree undetermined, was formerly and employe of THE TRIBUNE editorial department. He first joined the One Hundred and Twenty-second field artillery, in which he won his commission, and was later transferred to an infantry regiment, with which he went to France. Lieut. Frank T. Driscoll died of pneumonia at Camp Grant. He was formerly in the employ of the Western Electric company and made his home at 3006 Fillmore street. Relatives report that Private William A. Kovarik was wounded severely and gassed Nov. 11. He is with Company D. Fifty-fifth infantry. His home is at 3008 South Springfield avenue. Musician H. R. Vanderwort, Jr., headquarters company, One Hundred and Twenty-second field artillery, was gassed and wounded.
