21 Lost Lives In Struggle With Jap[ane]s[e] First Victim of War Was Pleasantville Sailor On Pearl Harbor Day 3 ARE PRISONERS To bring about the capitulation of Japan cost the Titusville region at least 59 casualties, a check-up of The Herald's records showed on the eve of the surrender. The total, complete up to this morning, includes 10 killed in action, two died of wounds, one died of disease, eight presumed dead, three prisoners of war, 34 wounded and three missing in action. There may be a few which have not yet been reported. The casualty list started on Pearl Harbor day, when Fire Controlman Third Class Robert W. Clark of Pleasantville lost his life in the sinking of the Arizona. Following is the list, giving name, age, date when becoming a casualty, place and parents." (It does not include casualties in the war with Germany, in training camps in the States or other accidents not related directly to combat.)
