Drowning victim Danny Eaton, loved hunting, fishing, trapping
If it was outdoors, Danny Eaton loved it.
The Foster resident, who drowned while fishing in the Ohio River May 13, died doing something he loved, said his father, William Traylor, of Falmouth. "Hunting, fishing and trapping, that was his life."
Mr. Eaton and two friends were thrown from their boat when it capsized in swift current near the Meldahl Dam.
Jeremy King, of West Berry, was picked up by a passing towboat and made it to shore. But Robert Wood, of Falmouth, also drowned.
Traylor and others had searched the river every day since his son was lost. On Wednesday, they finally received permission to search on the dam, where they found Eaton's body in a lock.
Mr. Eaton loved to trade in guns and knives, his father said. He loved to bargain and always had to leave a store feeling he had gotten a deal.
Mr. Eaton and his father worked together for the Rulin Co. in Cincinnati, primarily building bridges and overpasses for interstate highways.
Mr. Eaton, who dropped out of school after the 10th grade, was a "working fool, " his father said, sometimes putting in 80 hours a week.
The work never got too tough for him. "It was always, 'Well, let's go, hoss. Well, let's do it, stud, ' " his father said.
